I won one last year during the tournament as well. Took me all week. I kept getting 500-599 feet.

Just keep trying, and hope for the "Superman" move + the random extra power boost!
I'm sure everyone is capable of winning the trophy, as long as they hit at an angle between 43 and 48 degrees... those have been my most successful hits (I know, I know, I'm a math nerd for attempting to measure... but that's alright with me!)
