Hole number 13 is a par 4, on a "S" shaped course, with the tee at the lower left part of the S and a drop-off ledge just before the final green. Sounds difficult, but it is actually the easiest of the remaining holes in Mini-golf.
Our goal on the tee shot is to get around the bottom curve of the "S" by double banking the ball off both sides of the barrier walls ahead.
Set the power indicator to exactly 90%. There just happens to be a white flower, with a yellow center, above the power strip that helps get this setting just right. Blue bar of power indicator should just touch the yellow center of flower.
The aim should be on a line towards the very bottom of the clay pot (the spiral bush) as shown in the close-up below. OK, now click!
If the settings were right, you will have just cleared the bottom curve of the "S", as show below. Perfect!
The next shot will go around the top curve of the "S" and, hopefully (fingers crossed), all of the way onto the green!!
Target for the 2nd shot is difficult to describe. Look at the long hedge at the top of the screen. Estimate the distance from the hedge's top corner to it's right corner -- then aim about the same distance to the left of that top corner.
The close-up below shows the correct aim. Use full power and then fire away!
If both of your shots were absolutely perfect, then the ball will just barely roll over the edge of the drop-off ledge that is before the final green.
Then, your 3rd shot from here is very short and easy for the birdie on this hole!!
But, usually one of the shots is not good enough and instead the ball will end up still on the upper ledge before the green.
To make the putt from here, use only 30-40% power. Now, aim at a spot that is about 1/3rd of the way down on the perpendicular wall from the upper-left corner.
Yes, that looks offline -- but, because your ball is dropping off a 3-D ledge, the angle to the hole is distorted.
Trust me! Aim as shown in the close-up below and then click!!
The ball will fly off of the ledge, over the hole, bounce off of the back barrier and roll back into the hole!!!
So sweet!!
This birdie, like each one in Mini-golf, was worth another 5 points. Added to the 70 points (shown in the pictures) that we had made on earlier holes and we're now at 75 points!! |
