Instead of showing my strategy for the next hole (#7) right now, I am jumping back to hole #5 and showing a very different way of playing that hole. Some might prefer this new strategy better.
The first way that I suggested for hole #5 had a very, very long 2nd putt to get the birdie. It was down hill and at a bit of an angle. If you have trouble doing that, here is a way to avoid the long putt.
Use full power and aim your tee shot directly at the middle of the large red flower above the tee, just like in the closeup picture below.
.
.
What should happen is that your ball will bounce off the barrier wall, go straight sideways to the right and through the shortcut opening between the center barriers.
.
.
If you can do that, then the ball will end up very close to the hole for an easy short birdie putt.
.
.
However, this strategy does come with some risk!! The tee shot can be a little bit off and still work, but if you do miss the opening of the shortcut path, it is a disaster!! Then, you will probably be unable to get back through the shortcut again and be lucky to get out of hole #5 with less than a bogey.
That is why I gave the safer strategy of going up the sloped hill as the prefered method.
Those willing to gamble can try the shortcut idea. | | | 08-01-2007, 11:30 PM | #14 | e need post #437,010 Gift Guru Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 51,604 | Re: [Verified] Minigolf "Hole By Hole" Hole #7 is another par 3, with 2 speed-bumps and a conveyor belt. Looks like the hole is much too far away to make a hole-in-one -- but it can be done!
Use exactly 90% power and aim just a bit before the spot where the first speed-bump meets the upper barrier wall, as in the closeup screen picture below.
.
.
This shot has to be very precise!!
But, with the right speed and angle, the ball will bounce off the upper barrier, quickly over the 1st speed-bump and just barely over the 2nd to then roll very slowly onto the conveyor belt's left corner.
That will usually send it right into the hole!!
.
.
Here is the ball just after leaving the conveyor belt and rolling towards the cup and.....
.
.
Whoopie! A hole in one!!
.
.
By the way, it is possible to get a birdie, or better, on every hole in Webkinz Mini-Golf.
Score in the pics above shows that I had made birdies on each of the previous 6 holes in this round of Mini-Golf. 5 points each, 6 times = 30 points. And 2 under par, like this hole-in-one on a par 3, gets 10 points. Last edited by BERT_X; 08-04-2007 at 12:50 AM.. You just need to practice the tips for each hole in this thread -- that will save you the many hours of time that I spent in figuring out how to best play the holes.
Almost every trick that I use to shoot rounds like this one below, will be explained in this thread. | | | 08-04-2007, 01:37 AM | #18 | e need post #437,010 Gift Guru Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 51,604 | Re: [Verified] Minigolf "Hole By Hole" Hole #6 is a par three and the best that can achieved on it is a birdie.
The strategy shown a few posts earlier requires a long birdie putt to put the ball into the cup. Here is a way to shorten that 2nd shot into a "mini-putt". (yes, pun intended)
The tricky angled side barriers on hole #6 seem to be create a big problem in getting close to the hole from the tee shot.
So, my solution is to completely ignore those tricky side barriers!
Use full power and aim straight up at the yellow center of the large white flower, as shown in the screen pic below. (click on zoom to see it better) The putt will bounce off at a right angle and go all the way up to the little sand trap at the top of the down ramp!!
.
.
Shot two, be sure to use at least 50%-60% power. Any less and the putt may get stuck in the sand trap, but too much power and the putt can bounce over the hole.
Because you will be going down a ramp, aim on a line about half a centimeter (quarter inch) above the hole, just like in the picture below. (click on zoom to see it better) It should get through the trap, bounce a bit down the hill and roll into the cup. | | | 08-04-2007, 02:34 AM | #19 | e need post #437,010 Gift Guru Join Date: Jun 2007 Posts: 51,604 | Re: [Verified] Minigolf "Hole By Hole" Well, next up in this series of tutorials on the Mini-Golf course, is hole #8, a par three.
There was only one conveyor belt in hole #7, which we used to our advantage. But, this time there are NINE conveyors and they create an impossible maze of those hazards to get through. Or do they?
No, a hole-in-one can be made!!!
First, I will explain the angle of the correct shot. We are going to aim at a spot about 1/2 down from the upper left corner of the conveyor belt that is just to the right of the tee. See the close-up below.
.
.
Next, the speed must be very precise here. It must be 70% power. Notice in the close-up above, that the power meter created a little white triangle shape against the barrier wall background. You will soon see why getting that exact speed is so important.
Now with a full picture of the course (see below), I will explain what should happen to the tee shot.
.
.
If the settings are correct, the tee shot will go onto the first conveyor belt and it's angle changed slightly to be going almost straight up.
The 70% speed should have just barely enough momentum to get to the far upper right conveyor belt before it runs o-u-t o-f g-a-s.
Hopefully, it's last roll will be to just touch the edge of that upper right conveyor, then be picked up and sent off in a new direction -- to the left (see picture below of ball rolling that way)....
.
.
and it goes into the cup!!!
.
.
An amazing shot when it works!! Last edited by BERT_X; 08-04-2007 at 08:42 PM.. I'd hate to call myself a pro, but I have won over 220 Mini-Golf tournaments in the last 2 months, including about 190 in-a-row, now. Until someone else better steps forward to post their strategies, I'll continue to show my methods.
OK, the next hole to discuss is #9, a par three with a raised tee and a dogleg to the left. A birdie is fairly easy to achieve here.
Use full power and aim on a line towards the large red flower at the bottom of the screen, as shown in the picture below.
.
.
Then blast away -- the shot will BRANG off of the invisible out-of-bounds barrier and bounce off to the left. You should end up a little bit above the small water hazard.
.
.
For shot two, use about 80% power -- that way if you do miss, the ball will not bounce too far from the hole.
Try to aim on a line of sight that would go just below the park bench. Or if you rather think of it this way, aim at the spot on the barrier that will make the ball bounce exactly at a 90 degree angle down toward the hole. The picture below shows the perfect angle and speed to use. Then click and...
.
.
.
it should go right into the hole!! | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
