How do you get good at Home Before Dark?

Here's a couple tips for maximizing your score.

1) Get only a couple webkinz across at a time. Every time they run a new path you get more points.

2) Focus on getting toys and putting them in party houses. (this is most important advice!!)

3) Get to where you only need one more webkinz across to get to the next level and then connect as many houses as you possibly can and get as many toys as you possibly can. Don't just get the exact number of webkinz you need on your last run. Get as many as possible!

Here is how important toys are to high scores.

If you get 1 toy, you get 3x the points in a regular house and 6x the points in a party house
If you get 2 toys you get 5x for a regular house and 10x for a party house
If you get 3 toys you get 7x for a regular house and 14x for a party house
If you get 4 toys you get 9x for a regular house and 18x for a party house
If you get 5 toys you get 11x for a regular house and 22x for a party house

That means if you have to turn off 4 other houses to get one toy into the party house, do it! You come out ahead! If you can pick up 2 or more toys, it is worth more than connecting every house on the board!

Here are the rules the webkinz follow when running to the houses. If you know these rules you can figure out how to get a toy into a party.

How webkinz travel:
1) Webkinz travel along the shortest route.
2) If there are two houses that are the same distance to get to, webkinz will take the path going up first (to the webkinz's left).
3) Likewise, if there are two paths they could take to get to the same house, they will take the path that turns upwards (to the webkinz's left) first.
4) after the webkinz gets to the house that is along the shortest route, the next webkinz goes into the uppermost house, regardless of the length of the path
5) the next webkinz goes to the next uppermost house and so on.

Again, let me say how important it is to get toys to parties. If you got all your webkinz into party houses one by one and picked up one toy along the way you would get SIX TIMES your normal score on that level!
