How do you get good at Home Before Dark?

I saw that someone had 20,000 points!!!! For the life of me I can't figure out how to get 13 pets home with only 4 houses on time. Usually only two of the houses are accessible anyway! What's your strategy?

Just keep playing. I'm steadily getting better, but it is a VERY slow progression-- I can't imagine EVER getting to 20,000 points!

I try getting as many pets as I can during one turn, so that I don't have to worry about rushing at the end. Then, before the sun goes down, I try to get extra pets home so I can get extra points.

I think there are people who somehow find a way to cheat. Some games I see scores and I think, no way! So, I play honest...low scores, but honest!

It's pretty easy to get in the 7,000-10,000 range without cheating, but I'm finding it hard to get above that point. Has anyone tried playing it on an old, slow computer? Would that slow the game down to where it was easier to play?

I played it on a slow computer, and I suppose you have more time to map it out in your head, but the tiles tun really slowly on a slow computer so it doesn't help too much.

Home before dark is fun, but 20, 000 points is crazy! Just keep on trying and you will get better! Also, people that get so many points must like not eat or sleep and bring a laptop everywhere! So if I were you, I would stick to getting the points you get now.

wow, that's pretty good!! What I do is I just start from the beginning. In just connect the sidewalks to the one's in the beginning and keep connecting till I get to a house. That can become pretty hard however near the end when there aren't that many houses anymore. Don't have that much advice to give you, sorry.
