Default Helpful Booger Tips!

Ewww, that thread title sounds all wrong!

I've now got three Booger trophies, so I figured I'd share some of my tips with anyone who wants them. Be warned, this is a random trophy. I have filled the report card three times in one game many times, and it does not guarantee a trophy. I always stop playing at the end of level 21, because after that, your score does not get credited and you do NOT get the Kinzcash you've earned. And that really hurts, if you play for 45 minutes, earn 550 KC, and don't get it!

Tip 1: On lower levels, do one sum and then click the top to drop another row. Do another sum and click the top to drop another row again. Why? Stickers are hard to come by in the lower levels, and if you drop more rows, you're more likely to get all three stickers on the lower levels. You want to fill the report card on the lower levels because it's much easier!

Tip 2: Starting from level 6, always use up your 1s, 2s, and 3s first. This clears the maximum number of blocks from the board, so if you get stuck on a sum, you're not in danger of overfilling the board when the next row drops. So if the sum is 8, you want to click on eight 1s, or four 2s, or four 1s and two 2s, etc. On higher levels, save those 3s and 4s, because you'll find you never have enough of them when you need them.

Tip 3: You do NOT always get a trophy when you fill the report card the first time! I won trophy #2 when I filled the report card the SECOND time. I keep reading on the board that you should end the game after you fill the report card the first time. Don't! You might be cheating yourself out of a trophy, and you'll certainly be making less Kinzcash! You get the bulk of your Kinzcash in this game on the higher levels.

Tip 4: Apple stickers should be clicked LAST on lower levels. The apple sticker takes an extra two sums off the count. If you need the eraser sticker and you only have five sums left to do, clicking the apple sticker will leave you with only two more sums, which means you're far less likely to find the sticker and get a check on your report card. Apple stickers should be clicked as often as possible on the higher levels, because you lower the number of sums you need to do, which makes clearing the level that much easier.

Tip 5: Save your clock sticker for when your board is nearly filled. You'll need more time to clear blocks, and you want to use as many blocks as possible per sum in order to empty the board.

Tip 6: ALWAYS click the eraser sticker as soon as you see it. The more empty the board is, the less likely you are to lose a level. Just be sure that the eraser sticker is lower on the board than any clock or apple stickers you're saving, since you don't want to erase those by mistake.

Tip 7: Clicking stickers in combination is worth more points, and thus more Kinzcash. If you can, try to click multiple stickers in one sum.

Tip 8: For the bonus levels that come after every three levels (these are levels B1, B2, etc. and they show up after levels 3, 6, 9, and so on), pick a combination of numbers to do the sum and then keep clicking those numbers. Let's say the sum is 31. If you pick 15 and 16 and then click that combination very quickly, you'll be able to use all those numbers up and then move on to the next combination, say 11 and 20. The reason you pick one combination at a time is, you can find those numbers very quickly if you're used to looking for them. You will want to make as many sums in the B levels as possible, because you can't lose these levels and you can earn a ton of extra Kinzcash if you're fast enough. And in the lower levels, if you're lucky enough to get a sum that can be cleared by clicking one number, like 5, then for heaven's sake click all those fives!

Tip 9: If a number you need is waiting in the next row to be dropped, click on the rest of the numbers for your sum and then when the number you need drops, you'll just click that and be on your way that much faster. It's better to have a combination in your head and be waiting for the number you need than to keep clicking and unclicking numbers, trying to find the right sum. That wastes too much time!

Tip 10: Review your multiplication tables! Why? Let's say your sum is 28. If you remember your multiplication tables, you know in a heartbeat that you need four 7s or two 14s to make the sum. If your sum is 36, you know you need four 9s, two 18s, six 6s, or three 12s to make the sum. This saves a lot of time. Remember that addition and multiplication are very closely related!

Tip 11: Use those multiplication tables in reverse. If you need a 20 to complete a sum and you don't have one, use two 10s or four 5s. If you need a 24 to complete a sum and don't have one, use two 12s, three 8s, or four 6s.

Tip 12: Practice an addition table. If you know that 7 + 5 = 12, you will know that any numbers that end in 7 and 5, when added together, will always equal a sum in which the last digit is 2. So 17 + 5 = 22, and 15 + 27 = 42, etc.

Tip 13: Add out loud! You won't believe how helpful this can be, especially in the higher levels. A combination might sound good in your head, but if you say it out loud, you might realize you're wrong. (Or your math genius sister might be lurking nearby, hear you do the sum wrong, and shout out the right answer!) 26 + 17 = 53 doesn't seem right when you hear it spoken!

I hope this helps everyone get better at the game, and thus have more opportunities to get the trophy. The trophy kind of defeats the purpose of the game, though. This game is supposed to help you improve your mental math skills. The trophy, when clicked, turns into a real working calculator, which erodes your mental math skills. It's still a cool trophy to have, though.
