Thank you to Monkeecj, JBone92 and Chapman12 for providing us with valuable information on Course 1 Kewl Runnings on our Polar Plunge - Course 3 Guide. We decided to create a new thread dedicated to Course 1 to cause less confusion. Trophy Update on 8 July, 2009:
Monkeecj won a trophy on this course today! Congrats Monkeecj!
Please see his screenshot when he received a surprise when he crossed the line at the end of this post. Photos of Tricky parts of this course

I tried taking the picture earlier but this is what I got! Of course, right after this I crash into that silly snowman about 5 items down. I was so excited to have jumped over the snowman, tree, snowman trio that I forgot to jump. According to Jbone I guess I am close. Thanks again! Snowman - Tree - Snowman at 6600
This is where my survival run from 6300 ended. Originally Posted by chapman12 OK.. I finally made it pass the hill. Im not sure if the ending was a glitch maybe because you arent supposed to get passed the snowman yet, but the ending came around 8000 if I remember correctly.I am not 100% sure for I made it down another time and it seemed completely different.
I am hoping soon that it will either happen to you so you can see what happens to you, or it happens to me again, or even better if it soon becomes possible to pass it most of the time. 18 Feb Originally Posted by webkinz_crazy He actually made it to 8200 points twice yesterday! The snowman that are positioned on the side of the downhill will kill you if you hit them, so make sure to get enough clearance of the side of the cliff. At the very bottom of this hill there are 3 (or 4, can't remember) trees that are evenly spaced for you to jump through... if you land in the correct position, that is. After these trees you are at about 8200 I believe and the course kept going! I think he died on something silly after that because we were both thinking that the course would be over after jumping those trees. I hope this helps a little bit. We are not very good at taking screen shots while we are playing the game! But we will try to get some next time! I am very confused though. This time seemed as if it were completley different. There is a big hill that just keeps going down with obstacles on it. I dont know if I was just oblivious to them last time but this time I recognized them and there are more than I thought. Originally Posted by chapman12 Thanks! Update on 26 July 2008: Here is an updated image because we got just a little bit further on this course.
Now we're stuck at the bottom of a long run down the hill and not sure what follows after the tree stump and snowman ... Update on 9 August 2008: Here is an updated image because we got just a little bit further on this course.
I crashed into the 3 snowmen. That's where the game ended. Updated 21 August 2009: Originally Posted by monkeecj

Update: 4/4/09 - Course completed last week, this the 8300 mark Updated 21 August 2009: Originally Posted by monkeecj After quite a few losses at those three snowmen, I am able to make some conclusions, although I am betting that you, commodore, already know of them all:
The reason one can lose at those three snowmen is because the second one is invincible - no matter how quickly you hit it, it will cause you to lose. Several snowmen in other courses do the same thing. In addition, however, this snowman has a sort of "force-field" around it that causes you to lose even if you just get very close to it and don't touch it. Another example of a "force-field" that I can think of is the igloo at the bottom of the final hill in Black Diamond which you have to jump significantly before reaching it or you will hit when still a bit away.
The only suggestion I have to passing these three snowmen is to slow down for just a moment before reaching the three of them, and THEN jumping over - what this is intended to do is cause your jump to be higher instead of farther. The issue when holding in the right arrow the entire time is that it makes the jump far instead of high which will cause you to "run into" the top of the second snowman. I suggest not jumping off of the cliff edge after the large pine tree and falling off instead for maximum speed (which is shown perfectly in the picture after the August 2008 update on the first post).
At least I THINK the above is correct.....
EDIT: I just had a very large and high jump that didn't even get close to the second snowman, and I STILL fell on the third.... Now I have no idea!!! Originally Posted by monkeecj After a few more wins, I am sticking with my opinion that it just has to be a HIGH jump instead of a far one - the higher you can go, the better (although you still have to go far enough to make it in the center of the third snowman). Maybe it takes some luck, too... I tested that it CAN be passed twice in a row, so there is no strange programming that makes it impossible to pass, and I assume that it is no different than any other spot on any other course - that there is no probability involved. You simply need a perfect jump!

Do you pros have any suggestions for the part of the course around 5500 points where there is a steep downhill with trees and at the bottom there is a snowman to jump, some steps, and then a tree? we can't figure out a consistant way to clear this part of the course. thanks! | | | 02-17-2008, 01:32 AM | #6 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 12,321 | Re: Polar Plunge - Information to Course 1 - Kewl Runnings with Photos Originally Posted by webkinz_crazy wow! thanks for doing all this work! this will be extremely helpful. my husband and I have been working like crazy on course 1. Hi webkinz_crazy, I have uploaded the stitched photo of the 5500 points mark of the whole clif.
It shows where I jumped at on the particular run which may help you. The last jump showing on the picture was too big a jump, but I have managed to slowdown and survived. | | | 02-17-2008, 02:01 AM | #7 | Gift Guru Join Date: May 2007 Posts: 1,303 | Re: Polar Plunge - Information to Course 1 - Kewl Runnings with Photos wow! that is amazing how you can put all of those screen shots together! thanks for the picture! | | | 02-17-2008, 02:05 AM | #8 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 12,321 | Re: Polar Plunge - Information to Course 1 - Kewl Runnings with Photos Originally Posted by webkinz_crazy wow! that is amazing how you can put all of those screen shots together! thanks for the picture!
