MattzKinz' Operation Gumball Tutorial

First of all, I want to say thankz to heronbythesea for providing this strategy on her homepage. This strategyhelped me get my one and only Operation Gumball Trophy. Now to the tutorial.

When a red ball appears on the screen, that means the number is the right number, but it isn't in the right spot. A green ball means the number is the right number, and in the right spot. Some numbers won't even have a ball, because they don't even go into the answer.

If it is a three-digit level, I start by guessing 111. If one is correct, I guess 122. If one is in the wrong spot, I try 313. If one is green and one is red, I'd try 341. Two would be correct, so then I'd guess 351, 361, 371, etc., until I got it correct. Here is a snapshot of the stategy:

If it is a four-digit level, I start with 1111. Now say none are correct. I'd next guess 2222, and say one was right. Now guess 2333, which could get one red ball and one green ball. Next, I'd try 4324, which bring two green balls. Now guess 5325. Now suppose there's three green balls, you'd next guess 5326. This guess brings two green and two red balls. The only answer could be 6325. Here is a level with four digits:

I still don't get it. What do the red and green balls mean??

i am so confused! I usually just do 111, lets say then a green ball,222, none, 333,green, 444, none, 555, green. Then I do 135, none, then 531, and let's say I won that level. I did the easy mode once, and it was so easy I breezed by! To bad I didn't get a trophy.

thanks for posting your strategy. It's different from mine, so I think I'll try it.
My strategy is to use 012, then 345, then 678, etc. As the red and green balls roll in, I change my numbers to ensure I'm using the most correct ones. I've only gotten to six different numbers, and never gotten a trophy.
