This game is hard! Any hints?

I don't really understand the tutorial!

the game is hard, i agree with you. the best hint i can give you is to take it one step at a time. find out where one number is, then the rest will fall into place. is there a specific question you have? i'm happy to help you, tell me where you are struggleing

It is a confusing game!
green-one ball represents one numer in your combination is in the correct place
red- one ball represents one number in your combination is correct, but it's in the wrong place.

example. Say the combination you're trying to get is:

1234


You try out the combination:

1892

you will receive 2 balls: 1 green ball. 1 red ball.
You will not receive balls for numbers that are not in the combination.

The green ball is for the "1" which is the correct number and is in the correct space.
The red ball is for the "2" which is the correct number but is in the WRONG space.

The difficulty is figuring out which numbers the red and green balls refer to.

So say the next combination you try is:

1765

You will receive 1 green ball.
Since you kept "1" the same, and received the green ball again, it must be in the right spot.

Now lets say you try:

1265

You will receive 2 green balls. Now from your last try, (1765) you only got 1 ball, which means that the numbers 7,6,5 are NOT in the result. So when you tried "1265" and got 2 green balls. Since 6 and 5 are NOT in the result, you know that the correct number in the correct spot must be "2"

Now you want to find the remaining spaces. What you KNOW currently is: 1 2 _ _

we know that 5,6,7,8,9 are not used based on our prior guesses. So what numbers does that leave? 3 and 4.

so you try:

1243

you get 2 green balls, 2 red balls.

You know 1 and 2 are correct and must be the green balls.
4 and 3 are the red balls, meaning that these are the numbers we're looking for, but they're not in the right spot. So you switch them and get:

1234

=4 green balls and you've solved it!

yes, luck is involved, but it also involves logic, & making educated guesses, & testing theories.
