~A Gosselin Story~Inspired By Jon and Kate Plus 8~~Book 1~

Chapter 1
"OK and action!" Scott, their camera guy, yelled.

Jon and Kate Gosselin sat in their famous chair, Jon's arm around Kate, Kate looking neat and tidy, as usual.

Jen, their producer, began talking. "So, what was happening today at your house?"

"We were having a sleepover with some of Mady and Cara's friends and the little kids' friends from pre-school and Church." Jon relplied.

Kate tucked her hair behind her ear. "We have never done anything like this. Taliah has slept over a few times, but other then that, no sleepovers. I mean, how can you with a house of eight."

"In order to prepare for the sleepover, we had to get A LOT done." John said.

And Jen played back the tape.

"Everyone upstairs, now!" Kate yelled down the steps that lead to their basement/toy room. "It's lunch time."

Cara, Mady, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel all came running up the stairs. Yep, eight kids. Cara and Mady are 8 year old twins and Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel are 4 year old s*extuplets. All of them jumped in their chairs. While Kate started to get everything onto plates, Jon tied bibs onto the 4 year olds and put out juice cups.

"We still had to do our regular routine," Jon recalls. "Feed them lunch and nap time, but we also had to get all of the food and set up the basement for the big sleepover. And the day was already going crazy."

Kate served their grilled cheese sandwiches (mind you this was whole wheat bread and organic cheese, only organic for the Gosselin kids) and the kids dug in while also talking. And then the usual misbehavior began.

Collin burst into tears as Mady smacked his arm for accidently knocking into her chair after coming back from using the potty.

"Mady hit me," Collin whined.

"Madyln Kate!" Kate scolded. "We don't hit, go to the corner, now."

Mady jumped up and ran to the corner. She sat down on the pink mat marked "Time Out" and crossed her arms.

The others ate and chatted until finally Jon went over to get Mady.

"Mady, do you understand why Mommy put you in time out?" Jon asked.

"Because I hit Collin," Mady mumbled.

"Yes. Now go apologize to Collin," Jon said. "And give him a hug and a kiss."

Mady nodded, stood up and went over to Collin who was now out of his chair and playing with Cara.

"I'm sorry Collin," Mady said and gave him a hug in a kiss.

But the troubles were just begining............

Chapter 2
"The little kids all came running downstairs after nap time, knowing their friends would be here soon," Jon said.

"I had asked Brittney to come over and watch the kids, while Jon and I got the stuff together. We wanted all of them outside, but it didn't work out that way," Kate added.

Hannah came running into the kitchen. "What are you doing Mommy?"

"Making snacks for your friends." Kate replied adding the peanut butter to one of the many batches of monkey munch.

"Why?" Hannah asked.

"Why? So your friends won't be hungry." Kate placed the bowl in the microwave.

"Oh OK," Hannah ran back out just as Mady and Cara came running in.

"Mommy, Collin is using my jump rope for his bus!" Mady whined.

"And Leah keeps drawing on my picture!" Cara complained.

"Mady, let Collin use your jump rope, Cara tell Leah to come inside," Kate instructed.

The twins ran out the door and soon Leah was in the kitchen. Kate picked her up and set her on the counter.

"Want to help Mommy make snacks for the party?" Kate asked.

Leah nodded. But soon Kate was becoming her usual clean self, not letting Leah help which was causing Leah to cry and yelled her usual phrase....

"JON!"

Jon walked into the kitchen from the living room.

"Can you please take Leah with you to pick up the other snack foods?" Kate asked.

"Why isn't she outside playing?"

"She's messing up everyone's drawings. Please Jon, just take her." Kate begged.

Leah, unaware that her parents were arguing over her, just played with the spoon her mom was using.

"Fine," Jon said. "Should I take anyone else?"

"No, just Leah." Kate replied.

Jon picked up Leah from the counter and carried her back outside. Leah put on her shows.

"I'm taking Leah to the store," Jon told Brittney. "Could you distract the kids, so they all don't feel left out."

Brittney nodded. "Hey guys, wanna do another project?" Brittney called.

All the kids, except Leah, ran over to Brittney.

Jon put Leah in the white mini-van and went to the store.

"So Jon, was it calm, just bringing one kid to the store?" Jen asked Jon.

"Very calm. Easy too. Leah's quiet usually but she talked a lot on the trip." Jon smiled. "She really does have a lot to say, but since she's getting canceled out so many times, she feels like she should be quiet."

At the store, Jon put Leah in the front of the shopping cart and got the stuff they needed for the party. When they were in the chip aisle, Leah started getting whiny.

"I wanna get out Daddy," Leah moaned.

"OK, but stay next to me," Jon lifted Leah out of her seat and set her on the ground next to him.

Jon took Leah to the juice aisle and remembers how Leah got loose. He turned his back for two seconds.

"A minute later I turned around and Leah was gone!" Jon recalls.

"Leah! Leah!" Jon yelled looking around for his daughter. When she didn't respond, he went to customer service and had them page Leah.

"But I didn't think she'd know where customer service was, so eventually it dawned on me where she might be," Jon said.

Jon ran to the bathroom and found Leah walking out. Jon picked her up.

"I was so worried," Jon whispered to Leah.

"I right here!" Leah said pointing to the bathroom.

"I know now, come on, let's go."

If only that'd be the only problem of the night.....

Chapter 3

"After Leah and Jon got back from the store, it was almost time for the kids to start arriving. I had Brittney take the kids inside. Mady and Cara took showers, the little kids took baths and all eight of them put on their pajamas, which had been sent once again from M.Tanner. Each one on the front of the shirt said their birth order number out of eight looking like a fraction and on the back it said their name and the pajama pants had eights all over them. It was so cute."

The eight kids all sat in the living room awaiting their guest. First Taliah. Then Lissy. And soon they began to come in quickly.

"Welcome!" Kate said to each one.

Jon would take their sleeping bags, overnight bags and coats. After their items were collected each child would run downstairs excitidly.

"Kate, how many kids had come to the party?" Jenny asked.

"Twenty," Kate replied. "And to all of you viewers, yes we are crazy. Five of them were friends from church for Mady and Cara, five were school and neighborhood friends for Mady and Cara, five were friends from church for the little kids and five were from pre-school for the little kids!"

"It was SO hectic," Jon added.

Once every child had arrived, Jon and Kate said good bye to Brittney and said hello to Nanny Joan who would be helping them out with watching the kids or cooking. Nanny Joan went downstairs and Jon and Kate began cooking. But downstairs, things were beginning to go haywire.

"Miss Joan!" Karen, one of Mady and Cara's friends, wailed. "I wanna go home!"

Joan put down Leah, and knelt down to Karen's level. "Why is that honey?" Joan asked.

"Because Lisa and Mady aren't talking to me!" Karen's big green eyes were filled with tears.

"You know what? I think I can show you a lot more fun then Lisa and Mady!" Joan said. She stood up, took Karen's hand and brought her over to Cara and Taliah. They were playing house. "Cara, Taliah, can Karen join you?" Joan asked.

"Sure!" Cara and Taliah said. Soon Karen, Cara and Taliah were all talking discussing who was Mommy, Teenager and Baby.

Joan breathed a sigh of relief, glad that one crisis was averted.

Soon Jon and Kate were bringing down trays of chicken nuggets, french fries, fruit salads, cold cuts, peanut butter and jellies, tuna fish, chips and assorted waters and juices down for dinner.

"Now, everyone either eat at the coffee table or on the big blanket," Kate instructed. She didn't want any more mess then they needed. "I'm going to put on a movie."

"Picking a movie, that kids of those age groups will enjoy," Kate began. "Is tough. You can't just show Sesame Street or the eight year olds will feel like babies. And if you pick something the little kids can't understand, that's even worse. But we finally agreed on Finding Nemo."

"Now, how many boys were at the sleep over? For Collin, Aaden and Joel?" Jenny asked.

"Five. We agreed that was fair. Five of each gender for each of the little kids' gender. And of course, there were ten girls for Mady and Cara," Jon replied. "No boys."

"I heard Cara wanted a boy," Kate teased.

"Not funny Kate," Jon said.

Kate laughed and more of the tape played.

As the movie played, Nanny Joan went upstairs to put the deserts on trays. While she was up there, she saw snow falling. Hard. It was a blizzard. Joan quickly took her cell phone from her purse and saw she was getting a weather alert. Power was going out all across town. Joan took a step to go downstairs and the lights flickered off.

Chapter 4

Joan screamed and could hear everyone else screaming downstairs. A minute later Jon was up with her, holding a flash light.

"Come on Joan!" Jon said. He took her hand and took her downstairs.

Kate was doing a head count to make sure all twenty-eight kids were there. Leah and Hannah were clinging to each other, as were Collin and Cara. Mady, Taliah, Lissy and Alexis were all in a circle, holding hands and crying. Aaden and his friends were all hiding under a blanket, scared. Everyone else was either with Joan, Kate, Jen or Scott. When Joel saw Jon, he jumped up and ran to him.

"Daddy!" Joel yelled.

Jon picked up Joel and stroked his hair. "It's OK buddy." Jon whispered.

Kate was trying to remain calm, but it was hard. Almost everyone was crying. And all twenty kids who had been invited were begging to go home.

"I was scared," Kate said.

"You could have kept your cool," Jon told her. "I think you made everyone more freaked out then they should have been."

"What was I supposed to do Jon? I think the kids were happy to have some equally scared," Kate shot back.

Jon rolled his eyes.

Kate gave him a "love tap" and smiled. "So we had to keep the kids under control. Jon got the extra flash lights while I tried to control these two little boys."

Ricky and James, two of the little boys that had been invited, were running around and scaring the others.

"Ricky! James! Over here!" Kate shouted and the two boys came by her side.

"They were just being boys, Kate," Jon told her.

"Yeah, but they were scaring everyone." Kate tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

As time went by, Jon, Kate and Joan tried to entertain the kids. They played "Shadow Puppets" and "Flashlight Tag". At some point Jen went upstairs and got the deserts and the kids ate those. At nine-thirty things began to get a little more quiet.

"The kids were beginning to look sleepy, but none of them wanted to sleep until the power came back on. But we told everyone to get into their sleeping bags and I read a story," Kate said.

All twenty-eight kids were snug under their sleeping bags (well Alexis and Lissy were snug in Alexis' basement bed.) and listened to the story. Some kids fell asleep. And soon everyone was asleep, but the three adults.

Kate, Jon and Joan all went upstairs. Joan looked out the window.

"It's still snowing really hard," Joan whispered.

"Don't go," Kate said. "I don't want you driving in this weather."

Joan agreed and Jon got some extra blankets and pillows and set them up on the couch in the basement. Even though it was only ten, all three were tired. Even the camera crew borrowed Jon and Kate's air mattresses and slept in the basement. And Jon and Kate went to bed in their own room, tired and wondering what tomorrow would bring.

Chapter 5

The next morning Jon and Kate awoke to the sound of kids cheering. The two of them ran downstairs and saw the lights were on! They cheered along with the kids, crew and Joan!

"We were so happy!" Kate said.

"But, we still had to see what damage the snow had done to the roads and driveway." Jon added.

Everyone ran to the windows of the livingroom and looked outside. Snow was piled everywhere. The roads were being cleared, but there needed to be a lot of shoveling done.

"Lotsa snow!" Aaden said.

"Gee Aaden I didn't notice," Jon said sarcastically.

Aaden laughed, although he didn't know what his dad had met.

"And just as we were about to give up on shoveling with all of the kids..." Kate began.

"All of the kids' parents showed up with shovels and snow clothes!" Jon said.

All the adults and eight year olds shoveled. The four year olds helped out for a bit, but then ended up playing in the snow.

In two hours, the job was done. Everyone went back inside and Kate, Joan, Beth, Jen and Jodi made a monster size breakfast for everyone. They all put blankets on the living room floor and ate in there talking and planning for the next sleepover which would take place at Beth's house!

"Looking back, the night was fun. Even though we had a power outage, the kids made the best of it," Kate recalls.

"My favorite part was playing in the snow," Cara said when interviewed with her brothers and sisters.

"SNOW!" All eight of the Gosselin kids shouted.

oh until i read a comment i thought this was true and also thought, their crazy for having more than 9 let alone 8 others for a SLEEPOVER. ha ha i feel stupid.....
