As the moon shone above the pine trees, all was silent.

Deep into the forest were four clans. FrostClan, MoonClan, StreamClan, and PineClan.

In FrostClan Crystalgaze was sitting at the entrance, she stood tall and proud. She glanced to her side and saw her sister, Diamonddust.

Tonight they sat vigil. Crystalgaze knew quite well to keep silent, it was cake. She knew Amberblaze, her other sister would have trouble. Along with Diamonddust.

Graywave it would be fairly easy. Crystalgaze was the quiet one. Amberblaze started to share tounges with Diamonddust and Graywave looked like he was about to fall asleep.

But Crystalgaze was so deep in thought she didn't hear the pawsteps, crinkling leaves and small whispers.

Finally she cleared her mind. CRACK

"Foxdung!"
"Quiet down! You'll wake up this entire pathetic clan!"
"I know I know."

Crystalgaze stood up, fur on end and started a low growl. Ambergaze looked at her and twitched her ears.

The voices started again.

"Come on. If we're going to ambush this clan we have to do it QUIETLY"

Crystalgaze's patience vanished. "AMBUSH!!!"

Ambergaze's eyes flashed as she sprang for the nursery, followed by Diamonddust. Graywave was over to the elders' den.

Graywave mewed desperately "Get out of here and into some place safe!"

Eclipsestar was at the warriors' den waking up all the warriors.

Crystalgaze stopped and echoed all the other voices out as she listened.

"See!? We've been caught!"
"It's not my fault!"
"Come on let's finish our mission!"

Crystalgaze glanced all around herself. Then appeared infront of her a ghostly, black spirit shaped as a cat.

"I am ShadowSpirit." it hummed "I'm here with a message..."

Crystalgaze stared in shock

Shadowspirit hummed, "When the sun is gone, the moon will explode and unneeded blood will be shed, and create an evil shadow among the clans."

Crystalgaze said, "What more can you tell me?"
"I'm afraid that's all. I must return to my clan now. Farewell my good warrior." Shadowspirit hummed.

Crystalgaze opened her mouth to object but the spirit was fading.

Silvershadow ran up to her, "What are you doing just standing there!?"

Crystalgaze twitched her ears and heard the ambushers arguing.

"They already know we're here! We're outnumbered!"
"Yeah lets abort this dang mission!"
"No! We can't!"
"Yes we can!"
"Great I'm alone. I can't do this alone! Abandon mission!!"

Crystalgaze sighed, "They are aborting their mission. There is no need to fuss."
Silvershadow blinked, "This is the weirdest vigil ever."
Crystalgaze laughed, "How do you know? Others have had weird vigils!"

Silvershadow nudged her. But all Crystalgaze could think about was Shadowspirit.

She imaged what it looked like.

The sun gone, the moon exploding, cats shredding other cat's throats and a shadow looming over everyone.
