Chapter 1.
"Run... Run..." the leader growled, his huge claws slashing at my side. "You cat, run like a wolf!" He slashed at me again before pounding off. My ears were folded back as he glared at me one last time.
My sister padded up to me, staring emotionlessly at the ground. She shook her head. "You know... You need to start acting like a wolf, Krava. The alpha's one the verge of kicking you out because your so weak to the pack."
Those words hurt me like fire that has just singed my fur off. I'm not weak... or am I? I'm slow, I guess. But not... Am I? Koovo wouldn't kick me out, would he?
With all these thoughts gong through my head, I didn't realize I had run straight into a tree. "Ow!" I hissed, rubbing my head with my paw. Shaking it away, he loped toward the rest of them.
"Hey, Krava!" Quienta padded over to him, smiling gently. "Nice move back there, eh?" She laughed, her voice like bells.
"Y-yeah. That was what I was aiming for."
What did I say?
She looked confused, her eyebrows folding in. "Right. You were aiming for a tree?" she clicked the top of his ears with her large plumy brown tail. "Nice."
"Yes," I replied, trying to speak correctly. "I'm a big fan of trees these days, did you know that?" I asked, grinning.
She laughed. "If the humans would stop cutting them down," she reminded him, smiling.
"Quienta!"the alpha called. "Come here! Were going hunting, and your coming with us... Krava, you can stay here. You'll just create more noise."
I curled my lip. Did he just call me fat? I guess not... I thought. As I watched them leave, I ran, gathering my strength, and loped out of camp. I'd get my own prey!

Chapter 2

I padded through the brush, perking my ears for any signs of prey. The forest seemed empty. Of course it's empty when I come. I sighed, padding faster. The prey had to be someone. It can't just disappear, now can it?
You can run, but you can't hide, I thought, crouching low and waiting for some kind of prey to just--
A ear-splitting howl echoed throughout the forest. Another howl answered.
My sister. Great. She wouldn't be there when I got back. Kill me now. Why does this happen to me? My, er, father, left me, so I had lost him, and my mother... Do I have to explain? She was killed by Koovo. She went into his territory with me, and I watched the whole scene. No wonder he doesn't like me. They had spared me because one of the members said not to hurt a pup, so I got to join. He should've killed me when he had a chance. right?
As I stepped through a pile of leaves, a bird let out a alarm call, alerting all the prey in the area. Angered, I used my forepaw to sweep a pile of leaves into the air. A tiny vole scattered out, terrified. Dazed, I hooked my claw into it skilled and killed it swiftly. That was lucky.
My paws felt hot. Burning. Searing. Ow! As a reflex, my paw hoped off. I had padded straight onto a highway. I had gone farther then I had thought... Shrugging, I padded forward, trying to block out the terrible smell of--
I didn't get to move. I was helpless. A big bolt of what felt like ton bolted me in the side, and I went flying. My eyes were open, and I had been thrown about five feet sideways. No... Please, no! Help! A tire surged forward, and my world went black.
