Fern’s Guide to Zumwhere

This guide is dedicated to all the Zums in Zumwhere!!
(And all of my WI friends! -tarsky)

11/7/09 ◇ Intro
Rule #1 of exploring Zumwhere:
- Never stop at Arte's Curio Shop for advice on what else you need to bring with you.
"Hi, Fern!"
"Hey Tucker. What do you want?"
"Do you want to go exploring with me?"
"Um... no."
"What? Aw. OK, fine. I'll go exploring with someone else. Maybe Eddie wants to go." Tucker trotted out of Fern's door and into Eddie's.
"Glad that's over." Fern sat down, bored, next to her Fortune Telling Pig. She was so bored, so she gave it a whirl:
'Oink loudly to be heard!''
Again.
'There's more to life than mud and slop!''
A third time.
'A pig's life is FULL of adventures! '
How nice- wait, what? Fern shook her head. Full of adventures? This was a new one. It must have been a coincidence, but she couldn't help the fact that Tucker had just asked is she wanted to go on an adventure.
"Wait, Tucker!" She ran into Eddie's room. "Where are you going on your adventure?"
"Kinzville Park!" He said, loud and proud.
"Oh." Fern rolled her eyes. The newest part of the charm forest sounds cool. I'll go on my own! she decided.
--
Fern was packed. She had a blue and yellow fleecy on, a pair of yoga pants, and a sparkly pink bow. She packed a Winterfest Parka and a pair of comfy PJ pants in case it got cold, a blue t- shirt and a swimsuit consisting of a wldflower swimsuit top and applique ripcord pants in the case of any circumstance she might face. She also had plenty of mud burgers and other foods (not bananas. She expected to find lots of those.) And, of course, a sleeping bag and her favorite TubbyTummies™ bear.
She stepped out of the door and slung her backpack across her shoulder. Full of excitement and thrill, she stopped to see Arte at the Curio Shop to ask if there was anything else she should bring.
"Well, Fern. I think you have everything you need but a RareRewardz Card. Every time you buy the item of the day, you get a stamp. Get 20 and fill up your gem box and you get another, free of charge!"
"Thanks, Arte! I'll stop by later." She lied. It was harder than earning recess with her own KinzCash!! She thanked Arte again and headed off to the Magical Forest. She saw Tucker and Eddie hard at work "exploring" the Kinzville Park. She waved to Mr. Moo, who was selling ice cream to the kinz at the park.
After a bit of walking, she saw a strange- looking orange butterfly-like creature fly above her. She must have been there!!!

Rule #2 of exploring Zumwhere:
- Try to find something interesting to do while you're there.
"Ahhh, this is-"
"Haha, you'll never catch me!"
"Ouch!"
Silence.
"I said, 'ouch!'"
Silence again.
"Ugh. What do you you want?"
"5 of each color of zummies."
"Of what?"
"Zummies- you know, those colorful marbles?"
"No, I don't know."
"You're useless, Pinky."
"Yeah. Useless."
"Whatever. What are you?"
"I'm Zalo, the Tricky Zum. What are you?"
"My name is Fern, and I'm a pig."
"Uh-huh. Interesting story." - Yawn- "Now... zummies?"
"I don't have any....."
"That's too bad, isn't it, Zorb?"
"Yep. Too bad."
"So. Zummies, or we follow you around."
"Yeesh! I'll get you the Zummies!!"
"Hey, what was that blur?"
"That? Oh, that was Zeela the Zippy Zum."
"Oh. Well. I'll ask someone else to show me around. You guys are probably going to try to tell a that tree I'm pointing to is a Magical portal to Lala Land."
No answer. Zalo pounded a fist into his other hand. "Darn!"
"Thbbbttt!!"
"Ack! Who was that?!"
"That was Zeva that Bratty Zum, with Zoola behind her."
"So. I'll be on my way... maybe I'll ask a Peeking Zum."
"But don't you want to go to Lala Land?"
"No thanks. Bye."
"OK."
--
"Hi... what are you doing?"
"What? Oh, sorry. That's a cool backpack. I'm Zahara."
"I'm Fern. I need directions around here... and Zalo and Zorb asked for 20 zummies. How do I get them?"
"You get them by catching zums on your camera."
"Oh. OK, thanks, Zahara!"
"Bye, Fern!"
"Woah. Um... hi?"
"Hey. You're tiny through this straw!!"
"Cool... umm... I'm Fern."
"I'm Zulu. You ever wanted to peek into a fruit, like a strawberry or something, before?"
"Nope."
"Oh. Well, I do!"
"OK." This was proving to be boring, Fern thought.
Sigh... She walked up to a little weird-looking house.
