Sinuous muscles move 'neath a silken coat
Moon shining above lights movement remote
Appearing at repose, the beast lies in wait
Seldom does it doze and pity the fate
Of those...who play too close to the beast
(chorus)
The beast is savage
Seeking souls to ravage
Stalking by night and day
Raveneous for fresh prey
You'd best keep away
Don't play...too close to the beast
Eyes glow in the dark, the night is quiet
Of pity, not a spark, don't venture by it
The animal is restless, ready to pounce
Don't be defenseless, waste strength not an ounce
Senseless ...to play too close to the beast
Possessing power, its beauty is stunning
No matter the hour, remember it's cunning
Tender souls beware, evil is on the prowl
Scavengers sniff the air, mournful is the howl
Take care...not to play too close to the beast
J Swoveland- you can download a copy on poetry.com, if you want. Music has been composed for it by L Mitchell who has performed with Tracy Chapman, Billy Squire & Ric Ocasic (forgive me if I've misspelled names) but most of you wouldn't be familiar with 'em, anyway, right?
A little dark, ya think? But in WW, & , the lion can, & does lie down with the lamb! |
