The Adventures of Laba! An Original Story by Wellowie This is approved ~MissGnomie All the released chapters are in the first post. Once I feel it's ready I'll post the next chapter :] I really want to hear your thoughts about the story too, so please post what you think. This isn't a story where you can skip around too. If you don't read it in order you will most likely end up lost. So yeah... Enjoy! Chapter One: The Great War Begins Long ago in a distant land, animals could talk. It used to be very peaceful with very little destruction. Flowery fields decorated the land with many colors. Lush, grassy fields rushed on and on like a never ending ocean. Thick forests gave shade on the warm summer days, and shelter on the cool winter nights. Snow peaked mounts peaked off in the horizon still and beautiful. All the animals loved their home here. Everybody loved the land, called by the name of Anilla. Two great red foxes ruled over Anilla keeping the world happy. Everybody loved King Mioto and Queen Allannia. They lived happily in their grand palace together. Then once day Queen Allannia didn't feel so well, so King Mioto called the best doctor. The doctor arrived and advised the King to stay out of the room. King Mioto briskly paced back and forth outside the room waiting to be let in. Then a faint sound came from the other side of the door. It was crying. Soon after the crying started the doctor opened the door and said, “Come in and see your new daughter.” The King gasped in amazement then rushed in to see his child. “What shall we name her?” asked King Mioto. “Laba,” Said the Queen, “Laba shall be her name” And so it was announced that the King and Queen had a daughter named Laba, and that a festival was to begin later that day. Invitations were sent out to anybody and everybody. Ribbons and balloons decorated the palace’s halls and rooms. The festival started out great. Gifts were unwrapped and joy spread throughout everyone that was there, well almost everyone. Little did anybody know that evil was arising before that day, but they were to figured it out soon. In the middle of the festivities a bunch of evil looking creatures silently went into the room. A scream was heard above all else in the rooms. In the middle of the room, standing completely still, stood a tiger frozen in fear pointing towards the location of Laba. Everybody turned and saw a very evil black wolf rise from behind Laba. Suddenly Allannia noticed what was happening and grabbed Laba barely missing the claws lunging into the spot where Laba had just lain. Allannia turned towards the head wizard’s young apprentice, Bertus the bear, and commanded him to turn her into a chick and to take her far away. Allannia knew it was the only way to keep Laba safe. King Mioto understood what Allannia was doing and tried to distract all the evil beasts away from Bertus so he could escape. Bertus nodded and ran. He kept on running until he was far from the castle, and didn't stop until he spotted the home of a chicken, Named Henna. He quickly explained everything to Henna and luckily, she ended up being a mother of a few newly hatched chicks. “I won’t let you down,” stated Henna as she whisked away Laba to the rest of the chicks. Bertus hurried back to tell the King and Queen about Laba’s new home. He searched the palace looking for somebody, until he stumbled into the grand ballroom where the King was finishing up a speech. “Today,” said King Mioto, “Today is the beginning of the Great War!” Chapter Two: A Bad Start Laba sat in her room all depressed. The Great War was getting so bad that she and her chick sibling weren’t aloud to go outside anymore. That just meant more torture for Laba, because Laba was the only one in her family that couldn’t talk yet. Every day Laba sat but herself in hopes that she wouldn’t get teased by anybody. “What’s wrong with her?” asked one of the chicks. “She’s special. That’s all,” stated Henna with a faint frown knowing that Laba really was special. “Why are you frowning?” asked the chick. “Oh nothing. Now who wants to hear the story of the missing princess?” asked Henna trying to change the subject. Even though she was unable to tell anybody, not even Laba, about Laba being a princess, she still enjoyed try to hint it. Laba sulked around the house thinking “what’s wrong with her” she though mimicking her sister. Then she started thinking of how she could get back at her. Oh I wish I was that missing princess! I would show them who’s in charge! I would make them be my maids and make them do anything I ask. ARG! Why would I want them in my palace then? It’s pointless. I’ll just have to send them far away so I can never see them again. Laba wondered off under the couch. Now that the story was over she wouldn’t be bothered by anyone on the couch. Henna got the rest of the chicks ready for bed then sat down on the couch. “What am I going to do?” Henna silently asked herself. “How will I be able to ever be able to explain to King Mioto how Laba can’t talk? This is pointless. Why did I agree to keep her?” Does that mean my voice is important, wondered Laba. I have to find my voice. And when I do find it I don’t want it to be here. Laba crawled back behind the couch and snuck off to her room. She found a small backpack and packed her flashlight, a blanket, some food, and a few other things in the bag. She scribbled something down then ran away. Henna walked into Laba’s room to tell Laba about her secret. Henna looked for Laba then spotted a note on the bed. It read: Dear Mom, I heard you talking about explaining me not talking to the king so I decided to try to talk. I didn’t want to stay there because everybody was mean to me. I hope you understand, and I will be fine, so don’t worry about me. ~Laba “She’s gone!” shouted Henna as she started searching for something in her hidden chest. Henna pulled out a gold whistle that she was given in case Laba was in trouble. Henna scribbled down a letter to Bertus and blew the whistle. A snow white owl appeared and got the letter to take to Bertus, and eventually to the King and Queen. The missing Princess was now officially missing.
Chapter Three: Ralphy I must find my voice, though Laba as she walked further through Foggy Forest. FWOOSH! Laba looked up at the sky trying to see where the sound came from and saw a pure white owl soar across the sky with a small scroll. I wish I could fly away like that owl, thought Laba as the owl flew off into the distance. Laba sighed and continued walking. Soon it became very dark. Good thing I brought my flashlight! A small light illuminated the darkness and guided Laba through the dark. Umm… I think I might just call it the night and find a place to sleep. Zzpp… Laba’s flashlight suddenly died. Aww man. She wondered around in the dark looking for a hiding place. Meanwhile another three strangers were close to Laba. “Look boss. An easy meal appeared, just for us,” pointed out one of the three creatures. “Shut up Srize. Razor go scout around the area to see if there are more, or if somebody else is here,” said the boss. Without a sound Razor disappeared. A few minutes later he reappeared. He gazed up at the boss with a stern look as if talking through his emotions. “Time to get that chick,” said the boss as the three got ready to attack. Crack! Laba swiftly turned to the sound of the cracking tree branch. She noticed three pairs of orange eyes glowing in the dark. “Hehehe,” came a low, growling voice. “What is a little chick like you doing out in this big, bad forest?” said the middle pair of eyes. Laba glanced around then started running. “Get her!” Laba ran and ran but as she ran she had dropped her bag. She was thirsty and really needed water, but she kept going. Laba decided and a little longer she would stop running, but she tripped over something then heard the three yell. “Is she trying to blind us with that stupid flashlight, Fang?” asked Srize trying to shield his eyes form the light. Oh my gosh, gasped Laba as she looked toward the three creatures. They’re wolves! Laba got up and ran as fast as she could. “She’s getting away!” yelled Fang, the boss, from a distance. Laba kept running and running until she ran into somebody else. “I’m Ralphy!” said a playful voice. Just then a flashlight flickered on. Laba looked at Ralphy and noticed that he was a red fox, younger than herself. I think, no I hope red foxes are good, thought Laba. “There she is!” shouted Srize who was just seeing Laba and Ralphy. “Come with me!” said Ralphy as he flicked off his flashlight and grabbed hold of Laba’s wing. Laba rushed off with Ralphy who led her to a small cave. “We should be safe here. Your name is Laba right?” Laba slowly nodded her head. Then Ralphy stated in a serious voice, “I’ve been looking for you”
Chapter Four: The Meeting? Ralphy Looked at Laba. “I can’t believe it’s actually you!” he shouted and hugged Laba. “Now where’s Bertus?” He asked. Laba shrugged. Why can’t he believe it’s me? I don’t even know him! “Everything will be explained when Bertus gets here,” said Ralphy after he saw Laba’s confused face. He got up and looked around the cave. “This is where we’re supposed to meet…” Suddenly a white owl appeared with a letter for Ralphy. I am unable to get to the cave. Please meet me in the back up place. I have something from the King and Queen. It will help us very much. ~Bertus “Back up meeting place? Oh yeah… Oh great,” said Ralphy in a sarcastic voice. He turned to Laba. “We better get going now. If we start any later we might get there too late.” Ralphy turned on his flash light and left the cave. “Are you coming or what?” I think I can trust him. Bertus… That name sounds so familiar. Laba ran out of the cave with Ralphy. I wish he told me where we were going though. Ralphy started running. “I can’t believe I’m with my sist-umm... the super awesome person I was looking for!” Ralphy hid his head. I’m not supposed to tell her that… Bertus is supposed to tell her everything like that…I get to show her the mirror though. Ralphy suddenly got very happy. Laba looked at Ralphy. He’s hiding something. I know it. The only problem is that I don’t know what… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ralphy and Laba walked for hours. It started to get colder. “Wh-why d-d-did w-we choo-choose he-here…?” asked Ralphy. I didn’t choose anything. Laba looked up ahead. No way. Ralphy looked up. “We’re he-here,” said Ralphy. “Le-let’s ho-hope he’s n-not too up-s-set.” He mumbled. If I'm right about this place I think we are going to be so dead thought Laba who was completely freaked out.
Chapter Five: The Ice Prince Laba and Ralphy looked over a huge frozen mountain range. Snow covered mountains reached as far as the eye could see. Ralphy started walking on the snow. “Come on! You better hurry! The Ice Prince isn’t nice when he’s angry,” said Ralphy as he jumped through the snow. Laba regretfully followed Ralphy. She waddled about in the snow, trying not to sink too much. She knew the rumors about the Ice Prince one glance in his eyes and you will freeze over. She shuttered at the thought, but continued to follow Ralphy. The last thing Laba wanted was to get lost in the Ice Prince’s territory. What’s that? Laba quickly turned and looked at a pile of snow, but nothing was there. She heard something else and glanced the other way. We’re being followed. The Ice Prince must know we’re here. “Is something wrong?” asked Ralphy. He had turned around to check on Laba and had noticed her glancing around. Laba shook her head no and they continued on. Laba’s Beak started to chatter from the cold. She folded her wings in hopes to keep a bit warmer. Shh… Shh… Shh- Laba glanced over at the sound. I thought I heard more footsteps… She hurried beside Ralphy and walked beside him. He noticed that and started to speed up a little. Shh… Shh… Shh- Laba glanced over at where she heard the footsteps. She turned back and noticed Ralphy was far ahead. “Sorry,” whispered a small voice. That was the last thing Laba remembered before she was attacked and knocked out.
Chapter Six: The Ice Castle Laba awoke in a nice, warm bed. A large fireplace was lit at the other end of the room. The walls were an icy blue. Crystal-like statues and furniture were scattered among the room. The most amazing thing was a giant tapestry hanging above the fireplace. It was made of warm colors like red and orange. In the middle of the tapestry was a fierce blue lion. It’s beautiful, thought Laba I wonder who that is. She glanced around the room and noticed that she was the only one in it. Laba crept up to two huge doors. She could hear two muffled voices arguing on the other side. I-I know that voice. It’s- “Ralphy!” shouted Laba as she quickly opened the doors and ran out to see him. “I was so worried you were hurt!” exclaimed Laba as she kept rambling on. Ralphy and the other animal were flabbergasted. Finally the other animal, a red panda, spoke up. “I thought you said she couldn’t talk.” Ralphy still looked surprised. “Well last time I checked she couldn’t.” Laba realized what was going on. “I can talk? I can talk! Oh I have to go home and tell everybody. The other chicks will be so surprised!” Laba looked around for and exit and spotted one she started heading for it until she was blocked by the red panda. “Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Wait a sec little chickie. You are not going to go back. Not after you’ve gotten this far.” Ralphy nodded in agreement. “But why can’t I go? I just left for my voice and I found it so why should I stay?” asked Laba. “Because I command you to stay,” boomed a voice from behind Laba. She slowly turned around and saw a large blue lion like the one from the tapestry. “I am the Ice Prince and I say who can come and go from my castle.”
Chapter Seven: Friends and Enemies? The Ice Prince walked in front of Laba. He looked uncomfortable talking to her, but he still kept most of his composure. “While you are in my territory you must do as I say. And I’m telling you that you must follow and eventually lead Ralphy and Pandi until your adventure comes to an end.” Laba looked lost. “Where would I lead them to? And what do you mean by until my adventure comes to an end? My adventure was to find my voice and I’m talking now so it must be over.” “Your adventure has just begun. And when the time comes, you’ll know exactly what to do,” said the Ice Prince. Laba was about to say something back, but Pandi, the red panda, stopped her. “Just trust us on this one okay?” Laba reluctantly agreed. While Pandi said that the ice prince had left. He was nowhere to be found. Pandi turned to Ralphy with a serious face. “Bertus was here a while ago. He knew he was still being followed and continued on. We better hurry and try to catch up to him. The Ice Prince said he was in some trouble.”

Oh cool, first to post on your awesome story!!! Now, Anilla, is that pronounced like vanilla except you don't pronounce the 'V'? And I could just see a bad part coming up! (Not bad as in written bad, bad as in evil...) A good story does that. And Mioto, is that pronounced my-o-toe? I think it would be a good idea to show how you want things pronounced. Enough of my babbling... this story is great!!! It's really too bad that everything got deleted. I always have a back-up document of something I can't lose. | | | 09-08-2009, 04:26 PM | #3 | Wellowie Webkinz :) Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 4,076 | Re: The Adventures of Laba!
