★☆ Chapter 1 ★☆

“I think we should burn it,” suggested Cassidy.
Hannah stared at the gargantuan mountain of white in the middle of Cassidy’s large room. Old quizzes, essays, and class notes from the previous year made up the large pile. “I don’t think this is such a good idea. What if you need any of this later on or something?”
“I’m never going to need this again, Han. Believe me! A bonfire party would be fun, actually…”
Hannah jokingly palmed her forehead to which Cassidy responded to with an eye-roll. The s sat belly-down on the fluffy white duvet atop Cassidy’s large bed. Hannah stroked the fluffy material and wondered how her friend managed to stay cool even underneath a six-foot-deep pool of fluff in the middle of June.
“What can I say?” Cassidy said out loud. “I’m just a generally cool person!”
Hannah gave her a playful shove and laughed. “I didn’t mean that way!”
“You need to think more clearly. I can hardly understand your thoughts nowadays,” Cassidy chided. She jumped up off of the bed, making a light thud as her feet hit the floor. She turned to her iHome to change the song from A Rocket to the Moon’s “Not a Second to Waste” to Brokencyde’s “Freaxxx”. The transition startled Hannah a little, but she was beginning to get used to Cassidy’s diverse musical taste.
“Yeah, I’ve just been thinking about a lot lately. My thoughts are no doubt all jumbled up,” said Hannah.
“What’s to think about? It’s summer! We’ve both got gorgeous boyfriends and hours upon hours to burn! Not to mention we can read minds! How much better can it get?”
A sudden feeling of excitement interrupted the s. No doubt Cassidy’s mom was giddily shuffling down the hallway. Not surprisingly, the door flung open moments later to show Mrs. Starr clutching a brochure in her hand as if it was a winning ticket, a huge grin pasted to her face. “Va-shun-ha-way-vil-be…” and other unidentifiable single-syllable sounds. The s exchanged glances, confirming that all they could both hear was radio static and bits of words.
“Guess what, g.irls?!” she squealed. “Oh, wait, I suppose you two have already figured it out…”
“What is it, mom?” asked Cassidy.
“Didn’t you s already hear my-”
“Never mind that,” Cassidy interrupted. “What’s so exciting?”
“You guys will just love this! I just got off the phone with your parents, Hannah. They both agreed to let you go on vacation with our family this summer! Isn’t that wonderful?!”
“Ugh, Mom. No offence, but Hannah’s not going to want to come with us camping this year. It’s so buggy and boring…”
“Oh, we’re not going there this summer! We’re going to Maui!”
“What!?” Hannah heard herself gasp.
The g.irls’ jaws dropped. They looked at each other for a good three seconds, stood up on the bed, and began to bounce up and down screaming their lungs out.

★☆ Chapter 2 ★☆

“That should do it!” Hannah said brightly as she zipped up her purple, over-stuffed suitcase.
“Hmm…” Cassidy mumbled, deeply immerse in a book.
“Cassidy!” Hannah said, with incredulity, “Have you even packed yet?”
“What?” She looked up, her mind still on her book; then, seeing the look on Hannah’s face, she said, “Sorry, it’s at a really good part.”
“It’s Ok.” Hannah said, smiling again, “Anyway, we’re leaving for Maui in two days, so you better get packing.”
“I know…” Cassidy marked her place with a bookmark and closed her book, “But I just don’t like packing.”
“You want me to pack for you?” Hannah asked, kindly.
“Would you?” Cassidy perked up, “Hannah, you’re the best! I owe you one.”
“Anytime,” Hannah smiled and then pulled out Cassidy’s orange suitcase and started packing.

“What do ya think?” Cassidy said, posing in her newly bought bathing suit. It was an orange with yellow polka dots one-piece bathing suit.
They were in JC Penny’s trying on different bathing suits for their trip.
“Perfect!” Hannah said, “Now it’s my turn!” she jumped in front of the full length mirror and turned. It was a black and purple striped , with a matching skirt.
“I like it,” Cassidy said, “Makes you look sophisticated.”
“Yeah…” Hannah agreed, thinking it over, “I think I’ll get this one.”
“Finally,” Cassidy said and they laughed.
“Yeah, shopping for the perfect bathing suit is such a pain. How long have we been here?” Hannah asked.
“Four hours and thirty-seven minutes.” Cassidy said, “Let’s call my mom to pick us up.”
“Meanwhile we can go eat something, I’m starved!” Hannah said, rubbing her stomach.

★☆ Chapter 3 ★☆

“No, way.” Cassidy gasped.
“Way.” Hannah grinned. They ran to look out the window.
“When can we go to the beach?” Cassidy asked her parents eagerly.
Her parents looked at each other, an amused smile played on their faces.
“We haven’t even left the airport yet, Cassidy, what’s the rush?” Her father grabbed their bags and handed them to the s.
“I know, but it’s been, like, forever since we last went to the beach.” Cassidy said.
“Yeah, we’ve spent a lot of time picking out our bathing suits and we want to use them.” Hannah agreed.
“Patience, g.irls.” Cassidy’s mom said, “You’ll be sunbathing soon enough.”
They dragged their luggage outside the airport and waiting for their taxi.
“I’m sooooo excited!” Hannah thought to herself.
“You’re sew exited?” Cassidy asked, a bemused expression on her face.
“I didn’t think that!” Hannah said, laughing, “I thought ‘I’m so excited’.”
“Oh,” Cassidy sighed, “Well…it’s seems we’re losing it.”
“Yeah….” Hannah mumbled unhappily. She scuffed her flip-flop on the walkway.
Finally their taxi came and they climbed in and drove off to their hotel.

Hannah and Cassidy looked up at the massive building. It was twenty stories high, and each of the rooms had a balcony and a floor to ceiling window.
There were tons of palm trees all around, and there was a huge swimming pool with a two diving boards, one was a high dive.
“Welcome to Nani Kahakai Resort and Spa,” Said the doorman, kindly. He smiled at them as they entered the huge hotel.
“Good evening, Sir.” Cassidy’s dad said politely to him. The g.irls followed Cassidy’s parents and then they waited while they checked in.
“I can’t believe we get our own hotel room to ourselves!” Hannah said gleefully. They sat down on a bench to wait, their baggage weighing them down.
“I know,” Cassidy agreed, grinning.
“May I take your bags?”
A teenaged boy said, holding out his hand. He was tall, tanned, with deep brown eyes. He smiled at them brightly.
Hannah blushed deeply and Cassidy giggled and said, “Why, thank you.”
He took their bags and followed them as the g.irls and Cassidy’s parents headed toward their rooms.
Up the fancy elevators, along carpeted halls, they reached the rooms.
“We’re on the eighteenth floor!” Cassidy whispered to Hannah, excitedly.
“Our luggage carrier is totally hot!” Hannah whispered back. Cassidy could have sworn she saw the guy smile when Hannah said that.
Cassidy’s parents went in room 1817 to unpack and get settled while Hannah and Cassidy entered room 1818. The luggage carrier set the ’s bags down and said, “Have a lovely stay in your room." And headed for the door.
“Wait!”
He turned to look at Hannah, who was blushing again, “Yes?”
“What’s your name?” Hannah asked in a rush.
“You can call me Kale.” He winked and then left.
Hannah let out a sigh, “Isn’t he just amazing?”
Cassidy softly punched Hannah’s arm, “Hey, don’t forget about your boyfriend and besides, he probably already has a g.irlfriend.”
“Well, I know, but still…”
“But maybe not.” Cassidy said, smiling mischievously.
“What do you mean?” Hannah asked, eyeing Cassidy with interest.
“Well it’s not like anyone back home is going to know what we do here.” Cassidy said, her deep blue eyes sparkling mysteriously.
Hannah grinned back at Cassidy and they high fived each other and then got to unpacking.
