Special Surprise
Holly is a Peppermint Puppy with many talents, living in the heart of Kinzville.
Since the local businesses are only a few pawsteps from her home, she has many friends, and often helps out at the Kinz Bakery, owned by Polly the Pink Poodle. It's the beginning of a snowy winter in Kinzville, so that means its time to start Christmas shopping. Holly continues to help Polly with the bakery, and since it gets darker earlier, she often has the chance to admire the Christmas lights as she walks home, and the chance to window-shop for presents. The businesses already have their lights, trees, and Christmas merchandise out, and it's only just about to be Halloween, so, everyone in Kinzville gets ready for Christmas early every year.

Chapter 1:
Ingredients to Perfection
Holly shuffled into the Kinz Bakery on a foggy Saturday morning in October. Polly the Pink Poodle was busy icing a chocolate cake, and didn't look up from her work as Holly padded to the counter. "Good morning, Polly." Holly yawned. "Mornin' Holly." Polly smiled, now adding sprinkles to the chocolate cake. "Got a good night's sleep?" Polly asked. Holly shrugged. "I guess. I was just thinking." She sighed. "About what?" Polly asked, looking Holly in the eye, sprinkles poured from the bag and onto the floor. "Oh!" She exclaimed, dropping the bag on the counter and grabbing a napkin. "Can you help me get those? Please?" She asked quickly, already on her knees attempting to clean up the colorful mess. "Sure." Holly grabbed a napkin from the counter and ducked down to help. "I was thinking about... Christmas." Holly explained, gathering some sprinkles into her napkin. "Christmas? Darlin', we aren't even past Halloween yet!" Polly exclaimed, nodding with satisfaction as she scooped up the last of the sprinkles. "I know. But it's hard not to think about it. I'm a Peppermint Puppy, everytime I walk past your bakery or water my candy cane plant, the ideas just flood in." Pepper smiled, tossing her filled napkin in the garbage can. "Ideas?" Polly raised her eyebrows. "About presents, about new cake designs... just all sorts of things." Holly grabbed another napkin and a small, green pen. She quickly sketched a Christmas tree cake on the napkin in green ink. "What do you have there, Holly?" Polly wondered aloud, peering over Holly's shoulder. "We'll have green icing here..." Holly murmured, tapping the pen on the tree's leaves. "And here... yellow, red, blue..." She pointed to little ornaments and lights she'd drawn. "And on the top.... a star." She quickly drew a small star at the very top of the tree. "I know its a tall and complicated cake, but think about how many of these we'd sell!" She exclaimed. Polly examined the design. "Not bad, Holly. You might be onto somethin'." Polly brought the napkin to her desk and pinned it to the bulletin board. "I'll try to make it tomorrow." She promised. "But, for right now, I have an order I'd like you to help me with. Its a new order, you haven't made it before, but its pretty easy, you'll like it." Polly hurried back to the counter and pulled out her cookbook. She flipped to a page with a cake shaped and iced like a Jack-o-Lantern, complete with gum drop eyes, a licorice mouth, and a candy corn nose. "Awesome! What are the ingredients?" Holly asked, her eyes glued to the page. "Well, the gum drops, licorice, and candy corn. The rest is what the regular cakes require." Polly smiled. Holly grinned and recited the basic ingredients required to make a cake. "That's right." Polly chuckled in amusement. "Let's get started!" Holly dashed to the ingredient cupboard and pulled out cake mix, eggs, butter, orange icing, a bag of candy, sugar, and flour. She spread her load out on the counter. "I can't wait to make it!" Holly exclaimed, skimming through the instructions in the cookbook. She was so busy reading the instructions, she didn't hear when the bell on the door tinkled and a customer stepped in. At first, she thought it was just Polly seeing how the bell worked, just incase they needed another, but after a few seconds, she looked up to realize it was a customer, a chocolate lab wearing ripped blue jeans, black sneakers and a purple t-shirt. The lab strode towards the counter. "Hello... I'm guessing you must be Polly? You look alittle young to own a bakery."The chocolate lab asked with a deep voice. "Actually, I'm Polly, she's Holly Stripes, my apprentice." Polly greeted the lab warmly. Holly smiled. Apprentice.... that must mean she really wouldn't mind having me around full-time to help out and learn! This is perfect! She thought. The lab grinned. "Hello, Holly. Hello, Polly. Nice to meet the both of you. My name is Marco Cocoa. I'm in need of a Halloween cake, are you able to make those?" He asked. "As a matter of fact, yes, we were just about to make one. Maybe it would interest you? If not, we have a nice selection of other kinds." Polly lifted up the cookbook and showed Marco the picture of the Jack-o-Lantern cake. "That would be great! It's exactly what I need." Marco smiled. Holly turned back to the cupboard. "What flavor?" She called over her shoulder. "Vanilla, if you can." Marco replied. "My friends voted and somehow, vanilla won." He explained. Holly returned to the counter with vanilla flavoring. "Looks like you're all set." She murmured, writing the order down in her notebook with her green pen. It read, "Jack-o-Lantern (pumpkin) cake. Vanilla. Marco Cocoa." She showed the order to Marco. "This is okay, right?" Holly asked. "Perfect. Thanks so much! I'll stop by tomorrow!" Marco waved one last time and, leaving the bakery, turned right to the candy store. Holly turned to Polly. "Am I really your apprentice?" She asked excitedly. "Darlin', I don't lie." Polly grinned. "Yes! Thank you!" Holly exclaimed, running to hug Polly. "You won't regret it!" She promised. "Ofcourse I won't, I've already seen what you can do."
Holly blushed. This is perfect. Just perfect.

Chapter 2:
Excitement
Holly grunted with the effort of pulling the weeds from the spot where her Candy Cane plant grew. "I really need to start shopping for Christmas gifts." She muttered to herself. She sat back and looked around. The garden was empty. It was only the plants and herself. Holly loved the peace and quiet. It allowed her time to think. About nothing in particular, just to think. Maybe to think about cakes, maybe about entertaining her zums. Maybe about her classes at the Kinzville Academy, maybe about re-designing her room for the holidays. It all depended on what day it was, what mood she was in. On Sundays, when the Kinz Bakery was closed, she had the most time to herself. Earlier that morning, she had stopped by Kinz Fashion to browse the Halloween costumes. Holly had found a costume she liked. It was a witch costume. It consisted of a black dress with orange belt, and a black witch hat with an orange ribbon wrapped around it. But she also liked a monarch butterfly costume she'd spotted hanging on a rack at the back of the store. Holly sighed. She didn't really have enough Kinzcash for the costumes. Holly figured it was time to start helping out alittle more at Kinz Fashion, and maybe as her pay if she worked hard enough, she might be able to have one of the costumes instead of Kinzcash. "Stop it! You're making it worse! Stop before you rip it!" Holly jumped up at the sound of Kylie the Timber Wolf's shrill voice. "Comet, no! Stop! There has to be another way to get it down!" She scrambled towards the sound of Kylie's voice. What are they up to? She thought. Comet was a Reindeer, her older brother, to be specific. She flung open the door to her bedroom and cut through the center to the backyard. Immediately, Holly spotted Kylie watching anxiously as Comet tried to climb a cherry blossom tree to retrieve Kylie's polka dot kite. "Be careful!" Kylie shrieked. Comet reached towards the kite and grabbed it, but as soon as he had it, he lost his balance and fell into the inground pool with a splash, bringing the kite with him. "Comet!" Holly gasped, dashing to the pool. "Are you alright?" She asked. "Me? I'm fine, that was fun, really. It's the kite I'm worried about..." Comet sighed, pulling the dripping kite from the water and setting it on the grass. Kylie knelt beside the drenched kite. "I wonder if it still works?" She sighed. Holly shrugged and reached a candy-striped paw towards Comet. "Grab my paw." She muttered. Comet reached up and took Holly's paw in his hoof. Holly slowly began to back away, pulling Comet from the chilly waters. "I'm guessing you could use this, Comet?" Kylie handed Comet a towel, from the poolhouse, Holly guessed. "Thanks." Comet coughed. He seized the towel and Holly wrapped it around him. "No, thank you. You got my kite down." Kylie smiled. "But I ruined it!" Comet exclaimed. "No, you didn't you just gave it a much needed washing." Kylie chuckled. The three Webkinz giggled. "I was wondering what all the commotion was about." Holly grinned. "Well, now you know." Kylie said. Holly nodded and wandered back through her bedroom and back into the garden. Exhausted by all of the excitement, she sat on the garden swing and sighed. The voices of her brothers and sisters could be heard from a few rooms away, and Holly dozed off on the swing to the sound of one of her siblings moving furniture.

Ooo, first post! This story is off to a great start! You seem like a very good writer! I can't wait until Chapter One! If you have a PM list for this, please add me! And if you ave written any other stories here on WI, I'd love to read them!
