Yes, poofing up a unicorn? Well I think unicorn hair would be best for that! The unicorn's personality is much like yours, it is a strong fighter with an upbeat personality. It is also very magical, good for charm work like the spell lumos.

Now for length. You're wand needs to be thin so it is sturdy, but i think a length more on the short side will represent your strength. Say, 12 inches?

Hmmm, communication seems to be important to you. You also enjoy flying classes, making me think a flying animal would be best.
