☁Graphic Lessons

Attention:
I am sending out lessons [again]. I have 3 courses available. The lessons will be sent out via private message. Find out the details below.(:

Beginning: Does not involve any downloading. We will be using websites such as lunapic, glitterfy, sumopaint, picnik, and many others. I will also teach you how to own and operate a shop. This class is for those who can't download things, or are just starting out. (If you've read the information, put ducky in your form.) I'm no longer taking students for this class. Once our six lessons are done, I will start taking students again!

Intermediate: Involves downloading of GIMP. Making the basics, like blending, uploading brushes/fonts, making three-step signatures, and more. (If you've read the information, put Lana in your form)

Advanced: You can only take this course if you have a type of Photoshop. I use Photoshop Elements 6, so if you have that, this course will be a breeze. But the lessons I will teach you work for any other Photoshop, too. If you want to buy Photoshop, I suggest getting Elements 6. It's cheap and it works. But it's a real deal if you buy a Wacom Bamboo Tablet, 'cause then it comes free with it. To find the best bargain, look on amazon.com (If you've read the information, put Elementz in your form)

Things to Know:
•I will take 10 students per course.
•Classes will start once I have 5 people signed up, and after that, once I have made up a lesson.
•You may only take one class at a time. This is to insure that you have gotten all you need to out of the first class, before you move onto the second.
•Beginning class will have 6 lessons, Intermediate class will have 8, and the Advanced class will have 9.
•You are given one week to do your lesson. Two missed lessons without excuses and you are removed from the class.
•For every lesson, there will be a number in brackets '[ ]' next to your name.

Tips for Becoming a Better Graphic Designer

Creative Cropping
When making icons, (celebrity avatars), don't always center the image. Be creative. Just make sure it's appropriate. Instead of this: , try this: .

Use Textures.
Go to deviantArt and go to Resources/Stock Images, and it's basic from there. If you don't know how to apply textures to icons, I'd feel free to help.

General Graphics

NEVER!
Well, maybe not never, but don't put your name on EVERY graphic you make. It sort of ruins the quality. If you feel it necessary to put your name on your graphic, change the opacity (in gimp), or choose a color almost the exact same as your background, but still visible. Sometimes, using a symbol (see my examples or webkinzluver321's) works to, if it doesn't ruin the graphic.

Save!
Unless your image is animated, always save it as .png! When you save it, save your image as (filenamehere).png. It improves the quality, removing the pixel-y view of .jpg, .jpeg, and .bmp. If it's animated, it should automatically be saved as .gif

Image Hunting!
Don't always use bland google images. Try different places, like deviantArt, or Corbis images. But if you use DA, make sure you use the STOCK IMAGES! You don't wanna get caught in all that copyright junk. Glitter-Graphics still images are good too.

Deleting Site Names
If you want to make a graphic using a site like Glitter-fy or Glitter-Maker but don't want that annoying little site name in the corner, add extra white space to your graphic at the bottom. That way, after you've saved the glittered image, you can go to Lunapic and crop that part out of it.

Spoilers!
Use them! For your rules, entrances, side notes, whatever. DO NOT, however, put all your graphics on the inside of them. That way if people don't want to read the boring stuff, they don't have to go searching for the graphics. Also, to avoid confusion, title your spoilers. One example would be in my Forms post.

Solo or Partner?
Are you having trouble deciding whether you want to own a solo shop or a partner shop? Here are some pros and cons to both of them.

Solo Pros

Spoiler: show

1. You receive full credit.
2. There's no confusion "oh, who did you want to make this?"
3. You have customers who (usually) are less like customers, 'cause you can be more hospitable when you're solo.
4. You have more room on the front page for things like a school, tutorials, etc.

Solo Cons

1. If you're grounded or just can't get on, your shop is left empty.
2. Your shop is limited to what you can do.

Partner Pros

Spoiler: show

1. You have someone to assist with your orders when you're gone.
2. You have more creativity, because its what you and they can do.
3. You have more than one teacher if you want to open a school, or more than one person offering tutorials.

Partner Cons

Spoiler: show

1. You don't always receive full credit.
2. There's the confusion of "who makes this"
3. It's hard to find someone who's as good a graphics maker as you to match your expertise, so you may have less creativity in your shop then a solo one.
4. Your partner may not always be reliable.
5. You have less from to have things like a school.
