Trading Card Deja Vu? Updated 11/05/09

Just for curiosity sake it would be interesting to know what cards come from what areas of the Country. I realize we cannot be specific in our location but maybe time zone? Or even State? Also, where are we getting the cards? Are the cards that are duplicate consistently coming from Hallmark for example or are these people ordering them online?

In an effort for that not to happen to us we purchase a mixed box. Our local retailer allows us to mix different series to add up to a box. This has seem to work very well for us. We don't collect the virtual trading cards so much but we have gotten numerous free pets. Generally we get at least one free pet but lately we have been getting at least two through this method.

Well, series 2 is the real bust for me, I get the farming frenzy as a duplicate every single time and 3 others I can't remember off the top of my head. This is now over 3 days, clearing cache, etc. I did call Ganz, but I think the person on the other end had NO CLUE whatsoever what I was talking about......all I wanted to do was report it.

Alas, I completely gave up on the trading cards a long time ago. After buying boxes and boxes of the Series 1 & 2 cards, I began to see the futility of ever completing my collections. At that point, I realized it would be irresponsible of me to spend any more money on the endeavor. There are so many better ways that money could be put to use. If Ganz is just trying to soak us for more money, it backfired. There's no way their programmers could be this lame, but if they are, they are costing Ganz big time. Opportunity cost is a very real expense and every dollar that people decide to quit spending on Webkinz, is an opportunity cost.

It was never this bad before. Series 2 used to be relatively easy to finish. The only reason, actually, I have any of the cards was that great Costco deal.....it is just disappointing there is a glitch they haven't fixed...

I couldn't be of much help there, because the ones I bought personally come from whatever warehouse from where ever to the store which is a small local one but probably come from another state from distributor so that's several locations right there. The ones I have traded from of course I have no idea where they come from {or all the different places} so that's another whole boggle right there. It is doubtful that many got them from Hallmark since so few carry them anymore, maybe some have the FYEs but more than likely scattered retailers so not sure if any way to even get the information or how to gather it {figuring out what to pick for location for example}. Also what I am talking about is exact mirror duplicates from cards that were gotten scattered all over the country and even from Canada so doubt that it's really a factor since it all keeps going back to being a major programming issue.

There are some that I have gotten duplicates of just about every time {sometimes double or triple even in the same 5} but lately it's not duplicates in the 5 it is duplicate OF the 5, over and over and over mirror image. Also I tallied up the total cards and 5 won't even divide in to it equally so it's gipping me out of cards to top everything else off plus if you look at the tally {it's probably first post this thread, if not would be in the glitch reporting section in my thead there} it's totally ridiculous not to have opened all the sections by now -- almost eight boxes! I also rarely doubt that the so called customer service has a clue; the only thing that would/could surprise me would be to actually get through to someone and/or have them seemingly know anything about the site!

They haven't even bothered to try, and why should they since their so called customer service and/or techs that are getting this information don't even have a clue what anyone is talking about, sheesh.

You know, I've always been curios about the code cards. Are these codes preset by Ganz to award a specific prize or do you get a random prize when you enter the code. As a matter of fact, this is the exact question I entered in the ask Plumpy contest. Of course my question wasn't picked so I'll probably never get the answer.

I think you get a random prize when you enter the code. I seem to remember that when the mohawk first came out, that people started getting them as one of their random prizes, but they weren't getting them before then. I doubt if your prize is pre-programmed for the codes on the cards. Once you enter a code from the card, then a request is sent to a program to give you a "random" prize. I have seen other areas of WW where the "random" doesn't seem very random!!

I remember someone saying one of the so called customer service people telling them the codes were pre-set but as you said how could they be when older cards now come up with items that were not available when they were brought out. I have also put in the other thread {wiki glitch} that their "random-izer" seems definitely to be broken, if it ever worked right to begin with.
