Do any of you miss the older style Trading Cards - Series I and II ? I know that you can still find them, but unfortunately they are hard to find and, of course, they dont have the newer free pets on them...
The new Series III and IV are ok too, in that they give you a slight chance of getting those elusive magical pets... but I dont care much for the stickers and I always found it exciting to rip open those packs and find that I had two, three or four codes to enter! .. even if some of them were recipe foods, it was fun!
I DO like the idea of not having recipe foods in the newer packs, but there are so many posters... at least thats mostly what I got in Series III!
Anyway, I wish they could have kept the newer TCs a similar style as the the earlier two series, but just made the prizes better! I still love them though!

I entered a bunch of codes for Series 1 cards the other day. Half of the prizes were Kinz Cash. I found it rather frustrating when was really hoping to get some of the TC exclusive items. I did get 9 of the game room theme items and 4 medieval theme rare items, some posters, clothes, 3 Webkinz Studio prize packs and a few other assorted items. Some were duplicates and out of the 38 packs I did get one Mystery Pet card, I think it is the Golden Retriever since that is the picture on the card but I didn't enter the code to adopt it yet. I managed to get the cards for $1 a pack at FYE. (I went to several to purchase what I could.)
I like the chances of getting multiple codes on the older cards but for Series 1 I found that the more codes per card the more $$ prizes I got and the other prizes from the 4 code cards weren't the nicer prizes.
I'm still working on the Series 2 cards but so far I'm a little happier with the prizes I'm getting but would rather have gotten the series exclusives rather than the regular w-shop items.
I don't really care for the posters but I've gotten a bunch of those from the Series 3 cards. Today I did score a Magical Retriever out of the latest 11 packs of Series 3 I got from fye. That was all they had & I'm gllad I didn't only take 10 and leave the last one.
I wish they were selling the Series 4 ones for $1 too but they are only running the $1 sale on Series 1, 2 & 3. I think I've cleaned out all my local fye's although I did leave most of the Series 3 ones at one store. I may go back there next weekend if I have time.
I too would much rather win the cooler series exclusive item prizes over the kinzcash, posters, food & w-shop clothing & furniture items. __________________ Karyn | | | 07-16-2009, 05:22 PM | #3 | this grandma is Gifted Join Date: Sep 2007 Posts: 20,734 | Re: Do you miss the older style Trading Cards like I do? ... or do you prefer Series III and IV?! i have such mixed emotions about the different series of cards. i DID like the multiple codes on the cards, but there were items that they could have done without.
there are the pluses to the 2 newer series.... the furniture and the character items are great, but the posters can get to be a bit too much.
i did like the series 2 for the gamer garden theme. especially since it goes outside.
i wish that they could reach a happy medium and find a way to give multiple codes, even if it means getting some food or kc... without the endless barage of posters.....
i do like the occassional kinzstlye or glam bag that popped up in series 2. those a re great.
just remember in series one... when they give you one of those OUTFITS.... always compare them to the w-shop, as they throw in kinzstyle pieces as a little extra surprise.
of all the series i guess i like 2 the best.
oh, and i love the trading cards, too!!! | | | 07-16-2009, 09:28 PM | #4 | sodaboytoy Gift Guru Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 6,554 | Re: Do you miss the older style Trading Cards like I do? ... or do you prefer Series III and IV?! Each series has unique items. I liked the goal of collecting all the cards to obtain another prize on series one and two. I think series four has some of the best prizes though. They are great to decorate with as well as the clothing you can earn with them. Amanda Panda, Dr. Quack and Kimmie have some neat outfits. __________________ Books are my escape from reality! I find series 1 and 2 great, but 3 and 4 got a little random, I always got packs and packs of series 1 and 2 but then some reason i stopped when they made series 4, I hope the prizes get better and where i am, its easy to find 1 and 2 Last edited by MissPuppy; 07-20-2009 at 10:07 AM.. | | | 07-20-2009, 10:05 AM | #9 | intermint Puppy is Gifted Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 4,698 | Re: Do you miss the older style Trading Cards like I do? ... or do you prefer Series III and IV?! I agree too! I loved the stars that were yellow and blue! I think it was way better then series 3 and 4. But I do like the idea of having a chance of getting the magical retriever (series 3) or the mystical panda (series 4). I also think that the prizes should be as good as series 1 and 2! | | | 07-20-2009, 12:10 PM | #10 | HOA! The older ones look like pokeman cards or at least the ones i have seen, the pokeman ones. i like quizing myself with the questions on the back of series 3 and 4, and i find them easier to sort. I tryed to sort my series 2 cards, and found it very frustrating! i like sorting, it makes me happy to do something with the cards, so overall, i prefer the newer series! remember this is based on the actual cards __________________ Click the Cupcake Cottage to visit my house thread!
