I saw somebody tonight saying they had "priceless" wacky jeans for trade. I announced to them, and whoever was watching, that those jeans may be valuable, but they are not priceless. They came over to me and said something stupid, and then left immediately. I love when we (the responsible traders) manage to scare off a scammer! | | | 11-19-2009, 09:26 PM | #15 | ishing & praying Gift Trainee Join Date: Oct 2009 Posts: 17,312 | Re: Witness a scam in progress and stopped it. I got lucky.. The trading room table wasn't working and somebody said, "You send me that and I will send you my stuff." So I was crazy and sent the item! Ugh. But, luckily, they kept up there deal and sent me my stuff. Too bad everyone isn't that honest!!! | | | 11-19-2009, 09:36 PM | #16 | rainbow9100 Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2008 Posts: 2,989 | Re: Witness a scam in progress and stopped it. <3 Orangie I know they are worth a good bit, but the way the person was acting, it was as if they had the first and only pair of wacky jeans ever made. It's just how I interpreted thier comments. They seemed like somebody who might have had 30 pairs of those jeans to trade, but were acting like they only had one and were trying to bump the price up unnecessarily. | | | 11-20-2009, 12:47 PM | #18 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2009 Posts: 343 | Re: Witness a scam in progress and stopped it. Wacky Jeans are worth ALOT. I know that the WIGEV technically no longer lists items as "priceless" anymore and only gives an exchange value, but they were and to most traders still are considered "big" priceless. With that being said, I understand what you mean. When the opossum first came out, people who traded for its item were asking for year one items, totally inflating its value and talking about it like it's worth more than it really is. Doing THAT is technically trying to rip someone off; saying that wacky jeans are priceless is not. | | | 11-20-2009, 05:21 PM | #19 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Oct 2008 Posts: 12,491 | Re: Witness a scam in progress and stopped it. congrats! its nice to help people that dont really know the do's and dont's for trading! | | | 11-20-2009, 05:49 PM | #20 | Gift Guru Join Date: Nov 2009 Posts: 14,408 | Re: Witness a scam in progress and stopped it. Good for you! You just saved some person from sending probably their most rare item(s) to the scammer; you should feel great about what you did! It's a shame this person decided to make a run for it; they probably would have been punished should you have reported them. However, the important thing is that you helped someone out. Here's a funny thought: I would have loved to see that person's face when you stepped in and revealed their scam! Probably something to the likes of this: ! | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
