Does anyone know why I keep getting Kinzcash when Doug takes my gems? I only have two items let and I only get Kinzcash now. Any ideas?

See Asterravo's response. Also, instead of answering him when you don't have the gems, either click on the x in the box or switch rooms and next time he won't give you cash.
