I don't know if someone has mentioned this, but if you put your arrow over their item during the trade it tells you what the item is. It even tells you if it is exclusive or rare. It is very annoying with scammers, especially if they constantly put up food items and ask you to trade your rare, exclusive, and retired stuff for them.

My Grandson got scammed with food...only he thought he was doing me a favor. I have all sorts of storage for food...from Fallfest, Halloween, Winterfest, etc....so he traded for someones pet specific food because he didn't recognize it. Now he only goes into the clubhouse to trade when I'm around. I know myself I've been offered food...a shame what some people do

Another one that you might wanna add is when people say that "My Parents got divorced".. or "My dad died..." they do it for items most of the time... after they said this they were asking for my items!! DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!!

For the buttons they press - I stopped trading for a while, when I had this happen. What I did, I clicked 'trade', then the person wasn't happy, so I started switching around my items, hoping they'd be happy. But, while I was doing that, and trying to work out what they did like, they obviously clicked trade, and I ended up with all my items and their trade items. I felt awful - they left the room. So, that may be how people are doing it deliberately too.
