I heard of a scam. it is with clothes. They want bunny ears and say can i try them on. They are just trying to be a naive. Same with decorations. They will say can i see what the nutcracker looks like in my room. You will never get your stuff back if you do that trade.

For everyone on .

I do agree.. When I'm in the trading rooms, if there is someone who wants something so bad but doesn't have as many things as I do even if it is w-shop items, I always trade with them..after all these are only pixels and if it makes them happy (scammers or not) more power to them.. It makes me happy to see them happy..
Thanks sab45.

I got scammed out of something a long time ago. I thought the Porcupine food was a bed. So, I traded, and figured out it was food... I never knew until now that that was Porcupine food. I still have that SAME EXACT food item today, still... lol

People will also say the Deer PSF is the "ultra" rare year one stump. I almost lost a super exclusive item for that, but luckily my friend told me over the phone that she/he was trying to scam me.

Lately the deer PSF being traded as year one stump is extremely popular. I've seen it WAY to many times

I also got scammed about a week ago. Here's what happened:

So I put up two Glam Boutique items and they love them. They say that they don't have much, but will give their best item for it. They then put up an Alyssa Plush and say it's the Male Fairy Plush. I'm not a huge charmer kinda person (I'm more an e-Store kid lol) so I didn't know what the Male Fairy Plush looked like. All I knew was it was worth a lot.

So I immediatly traded with them. After trading I went up to the webkinz and said "Thanks!" Then they said "LOL you got scammed," or something like that .

I met a Dolphin who told me the Beach Theme bed from the wShop was a super bed. I was angry that she lied to me and tried to scam me, but then I realized what if she got scammed into thinking it WAS a super bed? I asked her, and the person who traded it to her said it was a super bed. I told her it wasn't, it was wShop, and we proceeded to do a good trade.

One scam I have fell for as a newbie is a bad one that really angers me because it is so diliberate. The scammer puts up something you really want, a rare item. Then I put up a few rare items that would make a fair trade. They add a food or something, acting like they are being nice. You click the trade button as they are sooooo fast they rip down the rare item and hit trade or replace the rare with a w-shop item and click the trade button so fast. So they end up with your rare items and you end up with food and w-shop stuff. It isn't fair, it is so quick it is meant to be trickery. Has anyone else ever encountered that? That scam probably bothers me the most because it is so diliberate and thought out. It is really taking advantange. Then the scammer usually leaves the trading room right after, so you can't say anything or warn others. So when trading take your time. Don't let them rush you, or something is wrong.
I hope this helps someone else.

This is a great thread. I had a dolphin put up a very, very rare priceless pet item (trying not to disclose too much info) and asked me if I wanted it. I said yes, I would love it! And they asked me what retired items I had. So I put up my best retired items, three of them.. and they clicked TRADE right away- Thanked me and I clicked trade then they must have hit EXIT but not cancel because I was left out of the trading table thinking I had the item but did not! And the dolphin disappeared!! I was so upset. That was just a teaser.

Thanks for the tips about the :deer: ! I'll add that to the 1st post =)

That was very nice of you

I think there's something on the 1st post about that... how some people might not be scammers. {If not, I'll add it!} Thats good too because she now knows that its not a superbed and she won't get scammed next time!

Im sorry you got scammed... that has happened to me too. Its really awful how some people would rather take kids' items instead of doing the work and getting the items themselves. Were you able to report the webkinz?

Hi all, and THANK YOU!!!

My daughter is 6 and absolutely addicted to all things Webkinz - they have been all she has wanted for the past two year for xmas, birthdays, etc.

About a week ago she started doing some trading - and at first I didn't pay much attention other than explaining to her that once traded the items were gone (just liking selling items at Curio Shop) and making sure she only traded items of low value items - some clothing, recipes she had made after watching Gyspacho, and other low value items.

Tonight she wanted to trade a couple of rares and exclusives which she didn't like so we sat down together to trade. After reading this post I knew what types of things to watch for - and could not believe that over about an hour had seen almost all of them tried on her but thankfully to this posting we avoided the 'tricks'.

I can't say enough positive about this post - but the one criticisim I have is that we forget at times that many of the traders are young kids to whom 'rarity' means very little and 'but I really like that' is what closes a trade. In other words WIGEV never comes into the decision process.

After we traded her rares I watched her trade a and if I didn't know that she was 6 but only saw the trade from the other side I could see how she could have been seen as a scammer.

(Deleted)

From an adults take on things neither trade was 'fair' but as no real money was exchanged as long as the traders are happy with the trade is their any real victim? Although there definitely are many scammers in the Trading Room, I really don't think that trades simply being 'unfair' from the basis of item value should be a basis for branding the other trader to be a scammer.

I would really like if Ganz would address a critical flaw in the 'safety check' they have in the trading room whereby a 'scammer' can easily bypass the 'warning message' you are trading an item of value for a regular item by simply adding a recipe creation or chocolate ribbon or other low value item not normally available at WShop. As it is the message does more harm than good by giving a false sense of security that this 'final check' will catch a scammer. What a scammer does is adds one of these items as a 'bonus' to hide the fact they are trading a regular item for a rare. My daughter and her friend did a trade just to verify what I had thought that I had observed. (Deleted)

On another trade between friends trading a rare for a regular the simple addition of a food recipe creation to the regular item bypassed the message.

I am sure that this is the reason why so many people seem to add a food recipe when they put up a regular item for trade - it is not 'to be nice'.

I would love it is somehow someone could get the message across to Ganz that this message does more harm than good unless they use some other measure rather than just 'is it currently available at WShop' as the basis to determine if it is an item of value of not.

Trade descriptions are not allowed.

I don't know if someone has mentioned this, but if you put your arrow over their item during the trade it tells you what the item is. It even tells you if it is exclusive or rare. It is very annoying with scammers, especially if they constantly put up food items and ask you to trade your rare, exclusive, and retired stuff for them.
