My dog, Handsome Finn McCool *insert my last name here*, aka Finn for short, died March 30th, 2006. It was by far the worst day of my life. We had a special day at school that everyone dreads, I was sick, but for some reason volunteered to go to school, and could barely talk or breathe. And my dog died. Fantastic.
If I think about it for too long, I get sad. REALLY sad, like uncontrollable. It's a sad time, it really is, and I'm not going to lie, it's not easy.
I'm not going to tell you to take your mind off of Kasey. I think that is really dumb advice for people who have just lost a beloved friend. It feels like you're betraying them, like you don't care, if you forget about them. But don't think about them "dying". Think about them "starting a new adventure", because that's what Kasey is doing right now. She may not be with you physically, but she will always stay in your heart.
It will be awhile before you can talk about Kasey without getting that lump in your throat. But that's okay. It is normal to cry, and maybe you could talk to a sibling or parent about it and just let out all your feelings. People will understand. I am deeply sorry for your loss, I'm sure she was the best pet you ever had.
If you need to talk to someone, I'm always here..... and don't forget, thinking about Kasey now may have you break into tears, but eventually, when you think of her, you will smile. Smiling because she's moved on, she's in a better place. Smiling because she was the greatest pet ever.

P.S. I am praying for you and Kasey. |
