Are you allowed to post your state? Because on an Open Mike topic someone wrote, "Do you live in ____________?" And a person answered, "No I live in ______."

Actually, the rule about children posting personal information isn't one that the moderators came up with. It's federal law. The law is called COPPA, Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998. So please, no ages, grades, cities, etc. It just makes more work for us.

Thank you for posting the rules, but can't we just say our country, maybe province or state? I mean, we can say it in our profiles... but I'd never say "my name is ____ and I live in ____ and here's my address ____"...

Of course I don't want to argue with a mod (not that I'd want to argue with anybody) but nobody can identify us by our countries, can they?

I don't know if this has been posted already, but everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) has their own IP address, and you can trace it back to your house and town etc.....

Anyone can access this if you know how to. The police (not the band LOL!!) use this to track people. This is why it is VERY important NOT to post any personal info.

They can identify you if you say what country, state/province, and street or town/city you live in. That is why it is not safe. Why can we put information about our age or birthday in our My WI profiles? Isn't that personal information too?
