Since Izzi set up the wonderful A-Mazing Mazes round table (check it out if you haven't), I thought I'd set one up for gardens. Gardens are a fun, if time consuming, way to make money in WW.
We love flower gardens, vegetable gardens, green houses, conservatories and more. If you designed it, we want to see it here.
Here are some fun designs I've come up with: Follow the yellow brick road... (finally finished!) So, what do YOUR gardens look like? PS - The lovely flagstone tiles are in the Decoration section of the W-Shop, not Outdoor. I don't know why Ganz would do that, but that's the way it is. If that happens, your Webbie could get stuck in the door for weeks until Ganz gets around to fixing it (after you finally give up and tell them). And to fix it -- they'll have to remove every plant in the garden... sending you back to square one. So, long story short... don't do it. Always leave a path between the doors and never put more than 70-80 items in one room. GARDENING TIP #2 - Watering You don't have to water the plants (ever), you just need to weed and harvest. This will save you a lot of time. The plants will grow just fine without water. GARDENING TIP #3 - Harvesting (curtesy of jms40) You don't have to harvest the first day. You can actually hold the harvest for up to 4 days. This is useful if you missed raking and not all of your plants were ready on the same day. GARDENING TIP #3 - WHAT TO PLANT (curtesy of Hmm) Strawberries produce the most produce (1-5 strawberries per harvest, at 6KC a strawberry) Back when you could sell your strawberries for 7KC a strawberry, they were by far the most lucrative plants out there. Many people have legacy gardens of strawberries because they planted them before the change. I've kept many of my strawberries because they are pretty, but I don't think they are the most lucrative anymore. Carrots produce almost as much produce (1-4 carrots per harvest) and sell back for 7KC a carrot. And they are easier to weed. If you are just gardening for straight profit, I would go with carrots. Pumpkins and Watermelons produce the most money per click (10 KC per harvest) Pumpkins and watermelons are not quite as lucrative as carrots because they only produce one piece of produce per harvest. However, in general the most tedious aspect of gardening is selling your produce back. It is a real pain in the wrists to sell a ton of produce back to the W Shop. Pumpkins and Watermelons get you more cash with less work. What you choose really depends on your goals... Do you need maximum kinzcash? Do you want to save your wrists agony? Will your garden be used for recipes as well as KC? Do you want your garden to be decorative as well as profitable? More more information on which crops are the most profitable, check out Red Bear's fantastic Gardening For Profit thread. Last edited by Lotamoxie; 08-30-2009 at 07:28 PM.. 2) The green squares are the plants and the white the walkway needed. Yellow squares indicate any non-plant item, such as a bench since our Webbies need to take a break once in a while. Yellow squares aren't included in the number count, only the green.
3) The black are the door locations. :ccat: Last edited by Lotamoxie; 09-01-2009 at 04:10 PM.. | | | 03-07-2009, 12:03 PM | #4 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Oct 2008 Posts: 721 | Re: Gardens Galore Here's my checkerboard garden Last edited by suzy12356; 03-06-2011 at 01:22 PM.. | | | 03-07-2009, 12:42 PM | #5 | oohoo!!! My 14 gardens are purely functional, but I can see how arranging the plants could be more fun. I usually "zone out" while gardening, so this might be a great idea for someone who wants to garden for profit, but wants it to be less like work. | | | 03-07-2009, 01:11 PM | #6 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Jun 2008 Posts: 687 | Re: Gardens Galore Those gardens are awesome!! Just great designs~ And thanks for the info on filling one in completely. I didn't know that could happen, so thanks. | | | 03-07-2009, 02:03 PM | #7 | Diabetes Awareness Gift Guru Join Date: Sep 2008 Posts: 11,880 | Re: Gardens Galore Oh, I love the idea of collecting different garden ideas together! I want to decorate my gardens but am running into problems with the decorative items blocking plots and I can't do the gardening on those plots. I really like what has been shared so far.
Here is the one garden that I have a photo of. I want to change it up now that spring is here and already have some ideas from what has been shared.
I have another garden but have not taken a screen shot of it yet. | | | 03-09-2009, 06:46 AM | #8 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 5,583 | Re: Gardens Galore Great gardens, suzy12356 and jms40! I haven't tried a checkerboard one yet. | | | 03-11-2009, 07:53 AM | #9 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 5,583 | Re: Gardens Galore (new patterns added 3/11) I always try to figure out a garden's layout before I spent a couple thousand KC on buying plants. I created a template of an outdoor room in Excel to plot the rooms. Here's some designs I came up with (moved up above). I was thinking about a garden last night and it is the plan you have in #68. I hope to play with it soon. | | | | | | Tags | *chokes on tag*, awesome thread, bethany♥, corn, flowers, gardens, gardens rock, guitar guy has changed, hayegirl11, poguee_smiles:), sugarfrenzy was here, tomatoes, vegetables, wow!wow!wow!, zach parise<3 | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
