Excellent idea for a thread! I love collecting rares but I also like combining non-rare items with my rares so I am sure these ideas will be helpful. I have some additional things for your consideration some of which I came up with on my own (of course others might have thought of before me and I just hadn't seen it LOL!) and some I have seen in other's rooms.

Medieval Dining Chair - Captain's Dining Chair
Turquoise Dining Chair - True Blue Dining Chair (I liked this replacement so much that I left it even after I had the chance to get some Aztec dining chairs)
Screwy Lamp - Space Light Projector (note that the cheaper replacement is quite a bit bigger and does not go on a table)
Royal Estate Bed - Magical Dreams Bed
Medieval Dresser - Inspired Incantations Dresser
Medieval Flooring - Wizard Flooring or Classroom Carpet Flooring


Also these are not 'replacements' but the Space Coffee Table and the New Model Drafting Table go really well with the Science theme.
