We adopted 5 new pets. In the case of 4 of them, we held the boxes for 24 hours and then opened them. We received 1 Bed of the Pharoahs, 1 Aztec Fire pit, 1 Incubation Chamber (and I can't remenber what we received with the other) The 5th box we opened right away (kids can't wait) and received a 1,000 kc coin. Now, this was a particlarly fruitful opening of the boxes but this is not always the case. Often, it is either a coin or an exclusive. I was just reading some of the previous posts and I wanted to say that we didn't open these boxes at any particular time or in any particular room. We just waited until the next day. Just wanted to offer up a post of update for you... To date we have recorded opening of 723 blue boxes! Of that 723 boxes, 226 boxes have included rare items. Statistically, that’s 31% of boxes opened have contained rares, or just a smidge below a 1 in3 chance of getting a rare when you open a blue box... not much change there. These are overall findings. Those 723 boxes can be divided into two groups: those opened in the 30 minutes before the rare (our research group) and all other (control group). Control group: 428 (of our 723) boxes have been opened outside (not during) that “30 minutes before the rare” time, 151 (of our 226) have been rares. That’s 35% of boxes opened “at any time” contained rares, or just above that one in three chance of getting a rare when you open a blue box. Research group: 295 (of our 723) boxes have been opened before the rare, 75 (of our 226) have been rare items. That 25% of boxes opened contained rares, or about a 1 in 4 chance of getting a rare when opening. This is less than the average, which would suggest the theory in the first post is disproven. You may notice, though that there are 133 more boxes in the control group... best case scenario would be if we had more “research” boxes... the more even in number the two groups, the better able we are to compare them... so, please post those research boxes! I’ve also divided out the boxes opened on Asian accounts... Asian account data: 168 (of the 723) boxes have been opened on Asian accounts, of those 168 boxes, 47 have been rares. Statistically, that’s 28% of boxes opened have contained rare items... a little less than 1 in 3 chance of getting a rare, and again these are overall findings. This seems to show that getting a rare is just a little less likely on Asian accounts than on other accounts. The boxes are distributed very evenly into the research and control groups. Control group: 87 [of the 168] boxes have been opened outside (not during) that “30 minutes before the rare” time, 21 of which have been rares. That’s 24% of boxes opened “at any time” contained rares, or just below a one in four chance of getting a rare when you open a blue box. Research group: 81 [of the 168] boxes have been opened before the rare, 26 of which have been rare items. That 32% of boxes opened contained rares, or about a 1 in 3 chance of getting a rare when opening. This is better than the overall average and the control group average, suggesting that the theory in the first post is proven. Go figure... I’m hoping if we get more research boxes, the theory will bear out in the long run... but only time will tell! And if you're doing anything exciting with this info, please let me know! Thanks for all your help and posting... and keep opening those blue boxes! Peace, Jenn Dear Jenn, I just found your amazing thread. I never really thought about it before but I think when we adopted the Siamese Cat, we got an Egyptian television. I have never understood how/why we got it, but we sure are thankful. Great theory! Now I'll have to go back into the cobwebs in the recesses of my aging brain (& also quiz my daughter) to see if it happened with others, because I think they may have! I just opened a box at around 5:30 during the rare and got an Egyptian sofa. I really didn't think this worked, but never got to try it due to an impatient little boy lol We almost always get the stupid coin. Last week we adopted one and received an elephant fountain in the pet box then opened the blue box and tada! we got an elephant fountain. I'll have to try to make him (and me) wait from now on. I'll keep you posted if it keeps working for us. Thanks!

What if is the time in wich you get the box that is the one is inportant ? Oh wow. I adopted it during the rare too. I don't have enough money to test this that thoroughly. I opened a blue box at the same time Arte had a rare.
It was Saturday, 2/21/2009 (CST) but Sunday, 2/22/2009 on my Asian account.
The time was 11:23am Asian/Australian time.
Blue Box contents: a disco ball
$1,000 KC
Arte was offering the Experiment Station #3 for $1150
I hope I did this right. Your thread is so interesting. Thank you!

Hope this helps, it's hard for my dd's to wait to open the box. I did manage to hold 3 boxes to try it at once but I didn't want to wait til another rare on Tuesday. I'll try to open the next ones during the 1/2 before the rare lol Reya, Do you think it's possible that you got the Egyptian bed because you were in that room? Obviously the same theory wouldn't apply to the obelisk in the bathroom, though! I think I'll try that in the Egyptian & Medieval rooms? I going to have to set up a Euro account now.
