Three of the items in the room are animated. As mentioned before, the surface of the water in the pool always shimmers subtly. That giant flame on the Ancient Brazier can be turned on or off, and it flickers in a very non-subtle manner. And, of course, the Twister in a Pot is constantly doing the hula.
By the way, I've noticed that the Ancient Brazier always turns itself off when you leave the room. I suppose this is some sort of built-in fire-safety feature? | | | 07-25-2009, 01:06 PM | #12 | oohoo!!! If you used the Ancient Civ. walls, that might give the illusion of an outdoor colonnade. If you placed some rare columns along the walls, then used the trophy pedestals in the center of the room, that might look good. Or maybe even place the pedstals between the columns........ oh crud, I'm wondering if I now need to start another Ancient Civ. room....... sometimes my head hurts from all the ideas I come up with!
And I have to add that the spider plants look incredible on the trophy pedestals. I have them all over my Ancient Civ. room. | | | 07-25-2009, 03:50 PM | #13 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 144 | Re: Ancient pool Originally Posted by auntjenny7 Actually, Rodentmom, you could use green flooring indoors to mimic grass. And I have to add that the spider plants look incredible on the trophy pedestals. I have them all over my Ancient Civ. room. I think you're right about the green floor. If I want paths or the like, I am going to have to see what I can improvise with the variety of rugs available.
I've considered the idea that you mentioned of using the Ancient Civ walls. I've also considered trying to use walls painted in a dark color, such as the maroon or royal blue, to try to give a sense of depth and empty space behind the columns, since there would be a walkway behind them in a real peristyle. It just now occurred to me that I could actually set the columns out from the wall and have a real walkway behind them, but I am thinking that this would severly limit the space available in the garden itself. I'll just have to try it out at some point. (When I have more columns. Boy am I really regretting passing up that last chance I had to buy them.)
So if you might need to start another Ancient Civ room, are you certain that you don't need to start a third one...underwater? (That's assuming that the stuff can even be placed there.) | | | 07-25-2009, 04:06 PM | #14 | oohoo!!! In terms of improvising with rugs, maybe the tatami mats from the WShop Ichiban theme. The flagstone paths are outdoor only.
Check out the pic in this link, of an indoor pool surrounded by tatami mats: http://www.webkinzinsider.com/conten...esign-contestj
That might give you an idea what they could look like.
Or would the CSO royal red carpets work? They go better with the Medieval theme, but.... It's not surprising that it won. The nice thing about the tatami mats is that they seem to be only one square wide and either one or two squares long. (I don't have any.) I do have one of the royal carpets they are something like 3 squares long. (I think.) They are kind of an awkward color for an outdoor path.
The Green and Groovy Tile from the W-Shop might be a candidate. But it's two shades of green. Maybe I could contrast it with the green paint on the floor? If the Manhole Cover will go indoors as well as out, then it could conceivably be used for stepping stones -- as long as you don't mind "SEWER" being written all over your garden. | | | 07-26-2009, 12:26 PM | #16 | hen in doubt, pray! It has been a while since I have posted and WI has changed during that time, so I am not sure how to quote. I set up a halloween room for each of my sons. They love spooky stuff. I set them up a Christmas room as well. I hope that everyone is well. Lori | | | 07-26-2009, 12:34 PM | #17 | oohoo!!! I'm pretty sure the manhole covers are both indoor and outdoor.
If you like the look of the tatami mats, I think those would be your best bet. And yes, they are 1 square wide and 1 or 2 squares long. That may be to your advantage, if you use mostly the long mats, but then for some reason need to use a small mat. Although, if you use a 7x7 medium room, even though it's an odd number, the 2 square long mats would still fit (like in the winning entry). Or maybe you'll just like the look of the small mats better......
And I don't remember if the mats have a single-direction weave to them....... If they do, then when using the square mats, you could also try switching the direction of every other mat. (That's actually a really cool thing to do with the flagstone paths, to turn them in different directions.) | | | 07-28-2009, 08:28 PM | #18 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 19 | Re: Ancient pool inside only, i really like the wading pool, just wish my webkinz could wade in it | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
