Am I doing something wrong?

I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing something wrong here ... I've never had this happen to me before.

I haven't found a gem in five days.

Does this happen to other people (I'm sure it does or has)?
Is there a way around this at all?

Happens to me too. Those gems are getting harder and harder to find. Even if I tip Arte, he doesn't seem to care anymore.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I'm glad to know that is does happen (I kind of knew it did, but it's nice to get the confirmation) and you're right, it does **** a bit lol. I won't give up of course. I want my second Crown of Wonder haha.

Sometimes this happens to me, but only for a day or two at most. I find it helpful to tip before I do the gem hunt. Yay 500 post!
