That's a really good question, because according to Justin's distribution of gems, there are sometimes more gems to be found in the mine than there are rocks shown (I've seen as few as 12 rocks, but all mines have 14 gems associated with them according to this thread).

My theory is that the rocks are not really "hiding places" - just click-spots. When you click, the program produces a random number, and either awards one of the gems associated with that mine, or slag, depending on the odds it has been programmed with. We've won a couple of crowns now, and all we ever do is click the first three rocks we see. The rest of the hints and tips are likely just hopeful superstitions.

If I'm correct, then the Webkinz diamond is always available (in the right mine!), but it may be "found" more rarely than others.

Thanks ever since learning where the gems are hidden, I was able to get my second crown of wonder much quicker then my first one!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish there was a way to avoid a particular gem. I've found the carat eclipse 5 times in a row. It's lurking in the mines that have the gems I need.

Guess it's better than slag.

What happens when you get all the gems and get the crown of wonder. Do your webkinz pets get to wear the crown? Do you sell it for a boat load of kinz cash? Is it just the satisfaction of completing it or is there a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
