I did all the correct steps to insert a picture for the profile backround, but it still says 'invalid' picture. Any tips?

How do you upload an image that isn't your profile backround? There are ones that go up by the corner.

I have a problem....I did what you said to do the main background and I clicked preview and it didn't show up!So I just clicked save and it said my main background has to come from my albums and it is in one of my albums!What do I do?
