Preferred Customer - without tipping!!!

I wanted to do a little test with Arte. He was happy to have me as a customer, "Ahh, one of my favorite customers..." And then I STOPPED TIPPING him. I never tipped more than $25 EVER. BUT I do buy often and I visit often.

I'm wondering if maybe you get advanced to a new level once you've spent a certain amount of money (either in goods or goods plus tips) within a time period.

I think it took me a month to go from 5 to 6, but only a couple weeks to get from 6 to 7. I don't recall spending much time on level 5, either.

1. First time shopper to let you know how it works.
2. "Welcome to the Curio Shop. Hope you find what your looking for."
3. "Welcome back. See if you can find a bargain today."
4. "Hey, welcome back, if you see something you like, let me know."
5. "Good to see you again. Have fun shopping."
6. "Ahh, one of my favorite customers. Let's see what I can do for you."
7. "There you are! Always great to see you, my shop is your shop."

Any similar experiences? Different?

I had the same thought. I gave up on tipping after I got to the 3rd level and became Arte's "friend" by buying things on sale.
For example:
The Ballet Coffee Table sell in the W shop for 300KC
If Arte has it on sale for 30% off, I wold buy it from him for 210KC.
Then, (since I already had one) I could sell it back to the W Shop for 150KC.
I got credit for 210KC with Arte towards becoming a friend, but really was only down 60KC (210-150)
...Does that make sense?
Obviously, you get the biggest bang for your buck by getting the items that are 30% and 40% off

I think that you are correct; on my other account I never tipped but bought whenever I visited and have progressed slowly but surely!

I'm on the next to the last level and my mom has been on the last for a long time. We tipped when we first went to Artes because we did not have enough kinz cash to buy items. She quit tipping but spends lots of money and moved up quickly. She buys expensive things we can't afford to send to us sometimes.

I think you are right. You can tip or buy, but you don't have to do both to move up. Maybe it is how much money you give/spend that lets you "buy" a level.

i almost never tip - but buy many CSO items or rares..sometimes we get "regular" stuff too- maybe it's a good idea tp buy on sale and then sell back to Wstore...thanks for the idea

I tip him 25 KC pretty much every day, but I have been stuck on level 3 for a while.

I never tip Arte--I just buy lots of rare and onsale items, and I have been on the highest level for more than a year.
