i am on level five, but one time i was at level one, the next day i was at level two, the third day i was at level three, and then i was at level four for quite a while. so i don't think it takes a week : what i did was: tipped him one hundred dollars, bought three items(they weren't expensive) and sold all my gems that i found that i already had. hope this helps!
