The fastest I've made it to level 7 was just under 4 weeks! I have multiple accounts and have 3 of them now that are at level 7! My advice is to tip (once a day) $100! Don't bother tipping him more than once. If you do, he will say something about not accepting charity! That just irritates him! Buying items helps, but mostly when you buy the more expensive rare items. If that is too hard to afford, then the tipping works best. Doing both is a sure way to move up fast!
I usually ask him about the daily rare item or the sales items and wait for his response. Then I tip him for giving me that information (even if it's worthless). haha That has worked out for me!
If you are moving up slowly, don't worry, you can always come here and find out when the rare item is going to be listed. That's about all you gain by being at level 7!
I've heard that if you stop tipping him once you made it to that level, you may get dropped back down to another level. I don't know if that's true or not. I can try it with one of my accounts and see. It might be nice to know!

I think you get to level 2 pretty quickly... after the first time you've been to the shop, he doesn't have to keep showing you what to do.

It can be anything, even the cheapest thing he sells. You have to tip him to move up, for sure! You can actually save money buying some "regular" stuff as it's discounted compared to the W Shop.

It's not always discounted, only sometimes! There are times I've seen Arte charge W100 more than the W shop though! What I like to do is look at the Curio Shop for the price, and open the W shop right on top of it, and see what the W shop charges. If it's at a discount, then I'll buy it at the Curio Shop.
