Regarding inappropriate advertisements on Webkinz Insider

I believe there are two other factors that affect the ads that you see. Generally ads target specific audiences. One is the area of the country that you live in; different states and provinces will see different ads. The other is the other websites that you visit on your computer. If you go to other web-sites that contain inappropriate ads, you are more likely to get them on WI also.

Thanks for throwing this out! I haven't seen inappropriate ads yet, but I bought Insider Insider with my WI Bucks. Once my subscription runs out, I'll be sure to let a mod or admin know if an inappropriate ad slips through. Rep points for you!

Let me clarify this: if you (or someone in your family) visit dieting sites on your computer, or even just sites that have dieting ads, you will be more likely to see those gross diet ads here on WI, because they are both about dieting.

If someone plays games such as World of Warcraft or similar games, you will see more ads about that type of game here on WI, and on some of these ads, there are scantily-clad characters.

What you do on your computer is stored in the history or in the cookies, and it "attracts" similar ads. Google ads are programmed this way on purpose, to get to their target audience.

And that is one reason why some of you see more inappropriate ads than others.

I'm not sure that this is all there is to it - No one using this computer ever goes to those World of Warcraft websites, but I see those ads with the scantily clad women all the time. I never go to dieting websites, but I see all those half naked people all the time. I don't go to any websites that I wouldn't want my kids to go to, but I've seen plenty of ads on WI that I wouldn't want my kids to see. In fact, once, in attempting to report an inappropriate ad on a thread, I even got the *** editing for directly quoting what the ad said.

So I think a fair bit of the ads are simply random - If they can't dig up any garbage from your cookies they just give it to you anyways...
