It may seem that they want attention, which sometimes is the case, but sometimes they may be going through a tough time in life, and feel like they need friends.
Take in the feelings of everyone and consider that.

You took the words right out of my mouth, thank you for posting this. We need to remember that everyone here is a real person with real feelings. Instead of assuming they are just searching for attention (which yes, may be the case) take a second to talk to them anyways, figure out if things are going ok. At the very least, spare a moment to make them feel welcome. People who did that for me are the only reason I'm still here

Yes I agree w/ this When I first joined I felt out of place like I didnt belong , & Kind People helped me too, even if it only takes a moment its worth so much more !!

I see where you're coming from. When I first joined, I thought it would be cool to be known as a regular member, who is known by everyone. And now, I am! But begging is NOT how you do that.

I have to put my two cents worth on here! Where some people may be posting things like that to get sympathy or popularity, I remember vividly when I first joined and would post something, it really seemed like there was this"inner circle" that already existed that I couldn't get into. It seemed like there were members who already knew each other so well, and my posts wouldn't get many replies at all. Now that I have been on here awhile, people have gotten to recognize me and I think everyone knows I am here to stay! I have realized going on the birthday list every day to wish people Happy Birthday, that there are members who join, post 2,3,or 10 times and NEVER come back. I don't know if this is because they got no answers, or if they just weren't committed to WI. I think it takes some time to grasp the concept of "being a contributing member" of WI. This was the very first "forum" I had ever taken part in and it was all so new to me. If I see a thread with no responses, I go and respond. I don't want people to come on here and then leave because they didn't feel welcome. I probably would not respond to a thread about feeling ignored. I would PM that person and ask specifics as to why they felt this way. That way, if it is someone actually feeling left out, I could find out. Just my thoughts!!!
