I wanted to become a gift trainee but I didn't know how. I haven't been a member for 2 weeks but on the 18th I will be a member for two weeks in three days!

Gingerly, can you please explain your comment, "Threads don't count, only posts." Does that mean that when you post a reply to someone else's post (ie, a thread), that doesn't count? Do you have to start 50 new posts yourself to qualify?

Thanks for your help! I am working hard to contribute good information and discussion to the site, and I want to make sure I qualify before I ask to become gifted.

It closes ever so often so they can process everyone who has applied, don't worry, it will open again.

Replying to a post counts but when you create a thread, it doesn't. For instance, Gingerly would not get post credit for this thread she created because she made the thread. Everyone who post on it will get post credit if they are non-fluff ("great thread".."thanks alot"... are all fluff). Your post would not be considered fluff since it's well written and thought out and is an honest sincere post. The reason for the not allowing your own thread is, someone can create 50 threads and then apply but they have not gone out and got to know the WI community. The whole idea behind making a good post is to let your colors shine. Show the WI staff who you are, what your personality is, how helpful are you, how trustworthy you are becuase the GE is a big responsibility. They want to make sure they have a sense of who you are first. That's what the post requirement is all about. Short post don't tell them much.

Good luck! It truly is a great experience to be in GE and there are wonderful people... I'm sure all of you are wonderful too- make your post show that! It's very important to be yourself and have fun on the WI!
