I wondered about this with the announcement about the Cheeky Raccoon. I believe the person who posted it - I wouldn't want to accuse anyone of fraud, when they were being truthful. But I just had to wonder how do you really know? I do a lot of image editing just for fun. I always make it very clear however that I have edited the image. Anyways, I am not the best at it, but I only have the cheap Paint program which comes with my computer. I imagine that some of these fancy image editing programs could really do an excellent job.
I understand if you don't want to answer this question. You would not want to give away any information that could make it easier for people to create fake images. I guess I'm just expressing my concern about the whole thing. I can't help but remain a little skeptical about some images, even when WI says they have verified their authenticity. I guess this is because I have done some image editing that was very convincing before, and I was not even trying to deceive anyone, and I only have a cheap program. |
