If you've made this far in your reading, you are almost home my friend. Welcome to post marker #21 (979 more records to go before we relocate again.) This thread, in my opinion, is one of the best of Webkinzinsider. I think the history was covered up there in the first or second post so you know how it all started. When I decided to take the leap, I didn't read any further back than a few pages. Because really, some of these people do like to talk and their posts are soo long...

Luckily for me I made the right choice, the original members each jumped in with the an answer that was amazingly warm and insightful. My first post was an awkward question about one of the jobs. Newspaper Delivery was driving me buggy because I couldn't complete the job with out getting three strikes right from the beginning. (I still despise that job)

They seemed almost happy to have a short visit from me and encouraged me to come back. And it's still like that to this day when a new face or avatar slips in with a question or comment. The welcome mat is always out and new friends are always welcome.

Since joining in February and making this one of my permanent stopping off places, I have read most of the previous entries on the old thread. I learned tips about trying new jobs and how to make sure your favorite job (Hamburger Cook) is available for easy money. The only level three jobs I can comfortably do is Burgers, Babysitting, Fence Painting, and Shoe Clerk. I like to play the dice game to earn my KC a little faster so I don't mind sticking with what I know.

Reading the old thread also gave me wonderful background into the personalities of this team, which I am truly honored to be included. Having a network of people that come together for a common purpose has enriched my life. I have made some remarkable, and I hope, life long friends in my journery here. This thread has a wonderful blend of knowledge, resourcefulness, competitiveness, humor, concern, sharing and sometimes, they take you to task. But that hasn't happened to me, I've never done anything wrong. (Not yet.- LOL- Hardy Har Har)

I hope you find your home here and feel as comfortable as I do in my first WI residence.

Glad you stopped in,
Dash

This little coffee shop on the long and windy EO Highway is reserved for Roomz. But not just any Roomz. Awe and shock, baby! Er, okay, pretty cool stuff instead. Enjoy.

INTRODUCING: The Long Delayed Theme from the Forgotten Realm of EO. All the accounts, past and present, all the time expired, and this thread an invisible nook in the cranny...and these are my favorite rooms.

The Crystal Mines have recently just been discovered in the Unicorn Forest, to everyone's great fascination. But has it drawn other attention? Alas, a second cave had to be closed due to, er, instability. Yeah, that's it!

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Webkinz World, a different bustle takes place in Fairy Aire, the only aire that takes you there! Three luxurious shuttles await you and your loved ones as you see wonderful sights...like the Crystal Mines.

And if you need time to kick back and relax, why not try the Castle Hall. Regal in every way, it exudes a perfect mixture between luxury and entertainment. Wrap that in a genuine feel for the time period, and you are sure to have a memorable experience!

Default Re: Employment Office Tips and Tricks

Ok, I am going to add some information as requested on completing

KinzPost Sorter at Level 3.

I have been doing it for the past few months at this level, and have learned some useful strategies which I want to share here. But first there are some rules you need to keep in mind:

#1. There are times when you simply cannot complete the round- you just can't because you get unusable boxes- I find that my winning ratio is about 3 out of 4 that are possible to finish.

#2. Don't be afraid to use the "Pause" button.... this will save you more times than you think.

#3. You are playing for 350 KC! So this isn't going to come without a bit of thinking!

Now onto the strategies:

You must focus on the stacks in this order:

1. SHORT STACKS WITH HIGH TOTALS

2. TALL STACKS WITH HIGH TOTALS

3. SHORT STACKS WITH LOW TOTALS

4. TALL STACKS WITH LOW TOTALS

Click the image to open in full size.

Here is an example of a screen I got the other day. You will notice that I have two very high piles. Normally this would be a bit nerve-wracking, but here is what to do....

1. IMMEDIATELY START FILLING YOUR HIGHEST PILES WITH WHATEVER COMES OUT ON THE BELT, UNLESS IT'S A "3" or a "2", (just stick those in your holding tank). The only exception to this is if your first set of boxes on the conveyor belt all have BIG values.... in which case you will just take them and start spanning them across your piles or putting them all into the piles that have the highest totals at the top.

This has a dual purpose:
i) You will get way more 2's and 3's than anything else and you can afford to throw them away if it comes down to that.

ii) The tallest piles are more forgiving to calculate. Because, what will USUALLY happen is that when you get near the top you will see you have almost made your sum- then you do a quick estimate- and it should be easy to see, whether or not you're OVER or UNDER and what kind of a number you need to finish that stack.

Keep this amount in mind- for example if I reached the top and it looks like I am over by a sum of 3, then I have 8 opportunites (the height of the tallest possible stack in this case) to see another box head my way that has a value of 3 less than one of my existing boxes in the pile, and I can switch it. It's a lot easier than painting myself in a corner waiting for a specific box with a specific value.

Plus, if you don't complete the sum of the large piles, they will act as extra boxes to pull from to help complete the shorter, more difficult piles (that have less combinations to complete the sum) and then, just focus again on the remaining tall stacks. The danger of doing this, however, is that you risk getting a bunch of 2's and 3's on the belt near the end and your big pile needs way more than that.

2. Now the next thing you concentrate on is placing appropriate values under stacks that they will work with (quick "guess"-timation). In the example above you see that the first stack only has three box spaces and needs to add up to 46... so I wouldn't put anything lower than a 15 in that pile AT FIRST (since 3 x 15 = 45) ... I may need to change those boxes later depending on what comes out on the belt, for example if I don't get much around the 15-mark but I start getting 21's or something. And then you see in the example I have a stack of seven box spaces that needs to total 66.... so I need 9's and up to put in there (or sums of 9 like an 18 so that I can pull my 3's out of my holding stack for later).

As the piles fill up, here is where you start clicking the "Pause" button and do your "Sorting". Since every game is very different, the circumstances you are working against will vary. But I find more often than not, I will get the shortest stacks done first and usually the next tallest after that.

As said before it is important to STAY AWAY FROM PILES YOU HAVE COMPLETED UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY! Once you're down to one or two piles it's easier on your brain to keep up in mind what you need to finish them.. and that is the best method... knock the piles off one at a time so you can concentrate on one or two remaining piles.

Also one more thing to keep in mind although it shouldn't come to this (but does on occasion):
When your holding tank stack is full, even though throwing away boxes knocks seconds off your timer... sometimes you must do it to get the values you need to finish your final stacks! There are times for example, when you have one or two stacks left that need specific box values (like 2s or 3s which you get a lot of). Sitting there waiting for the box to trail out and fall off the belt uses up way more time than just seeing what the value is and if you can't use it, grabbing it off the belt, throwing it away and letting the next one come out immediately! As I said, it rarely comes to this but sometimes as a last resort you must accelerate the box flow or end up sitting there as your clock ticks away and panic sets in.

So here's another example and the finished solution:

Click the image to open in full size.

The first piles that need attention are the 4-stack piles totaling 74 and 63 because they are the shortest and will be more difficult to get the right combination of values to finish. So right away I have made a mental note that ANY BIG BOXES need to go in there FIRST because there are only so many boxes which will total those higher numbers.

The second thing I noticed is that there's also a stack of 4 boxes which must total 36.. so what does this mean? I need 4 x 9 or at least 4 boxes between 7 - 11 to make this pile work.

And lastly I see that there are two remaining piles of the same height with rather diverse totals at the top. So guess what- I will probably be switching boxes between these two stacks... if the value is too high, it goes in the stack with greater total... if it's too low, it goes in the stack with the lower total. Make sense?

As you will see by the solution below, based on the stacks I completed with, what ended up happening is I got a bunch of high numbers right off the bat which went automatically into stack #4 totalling 73 (because as I said earlier you use these big piles for temporary 'holding tanks' so you can quickly pull from them to do the short difficult stacks), and when that pile got close to the total I either put them next into stack #1 totalling 74 or stack #5 totalling 63 because those all needed bigger numbers to complete. My mid-numbers went into stack #3 as you see everything in there was between 5 - 7 at first.... then I grabbed my 3's from the holding tank to finish my total.

IF I NEEDED TO CONCENTRATE ON THE SHORTER PILES WITH THE HIGHER TOTALS, WHY DID I START PUTTING THE LARGE BOXES IN THE TALL STACK WITH THE HIGH TOTAL?

Because I didn't know what was going to come out after that- so that large pile acted as a temporary holding tank and when I saw enough large boxes I gathered them and made my totals in the two short stacks with high totals FIRST. Whatever was leftover stayed there and added to the total of that stack, since I had my short piles done.

Ultimately everything else went into the remaining piles or in the holding tank- and as I got to the top of each stack I PRESSED PAUSE and sorted the closest piles to finish.... taking values I need from other piles and using them to knock off a couple stacks so all I had to concentrate on were the remaining ones.

and ta-daaaaaa......
Click the image to open in full size.

As I said before, there are times when this job is impossible- for example, once I had a stack of only 2 boxes high but it had to add up to 48- and I only got one box with a value over 23 until time ran out... so there was no way to win that time.

Another time I got all 2's and 3's on the conveyor belt for the first 60 seconds... making it virtually impossible to complete any of the piles since they all had high numbers.... I really cursed out loud that time!

And one more thing... don't let mean old Mrs. Von Meow aggravate you! When you lose three times and she kicks you down to a lower level, you will see that Level 2 is unbelievably easy and you will be back to level 3 in no time! Keep at it....

Happy Sorting!

Well hello to everyone at your new abode. I was so afraid I would not be able to find you all again. I have been out of pocket for awhile and trying to catch up on post, came in and saw the uprooting of EO and had heart flutters, I may not get to post much but I try to keep up with a couple of places here.
For Bert, I have the tractor but so want the (necessary outdoor room), I have decided if fate and luck gives me enough tokens that is going to be the first Wish.
Whimsy, I remember reading about alternative remedies for ear aches, does this work for swimmers ear also, I have one GD that is having a problem with this and she so loves to swim and this is the first year they have a pool and I so want her to enjoy the summer with ear pain . Will be back again.
