I don't like the new images either. It seems like they take on new developers who maybe aren't as familiar with the code or aren't as in tune with the graphics as others. It's possible they just made the changes to maximize efficiency in the programming without realizing the full impact. Hopefully they welcome the feedback and consider reverting it until they can clean it up without losing the best parts that we all like. Good luck with your quest!

The new image looks pretty bad and the purple stripe is annoying. Why does Ganz waste their time on "updating" things that are already fine the way they are? I hope they switch it back too! | | | 10-02-2009, 06:55 PM | #15 | Gift Guru Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 18,001 | Re: Turning Secret Recipes Back to the Way They Should Be I am of the minority - I love the increased speed so much and the way it does not close the appliance that I can absolutely live with lower resolution pictures if that is necessary to keep the other improvements.
You guys obviously have more time invested in solving recipes so the changes resonates with you more but I do not really mind the change.
Recipe solving is changing dramatically now with the advent of the trophy and Ganz tracking the first solving. Nothing about solving will be the same again and this is a very minor change compared to the overall bigger change.
Just look at the Tusslepuff mess - its been solved but we have no clue what it is. So now whoever does figure it out here or post it here is just a second hand followup to the big announcement that was already made.
That change is way more important to me than a graphic. | | | 10-02-2009, 07:00 PM | #16 | I is a haven for a Gift Guru Join Date: Feb 2008 Posts: 10,143 | Re: Turning Secret Recipes Back to the Way They Should Be I agree. The swirls were the best part of creating a recipe-the excitement of seeing if you made something cool. But...now? Ew. GANZ, would it hut to ask your members before you do something drastic like this. | | | 10-02-2009, 07:40 PM | #17 | lorib64 Gift Guru Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 4,619 | Re: Turning Secret Recipes Back to the Way They Should Be Originally Posted by fumble99

. I think it will still be a big deal when we find out the recipe. I'm not sure how it's a mess. Just someone solved it first.
I like the older style much better, too. I don't think that the size of the image should be affected by the removal of the swirl screen. Don't you think that they could have dropped the swirl sequence and made the screen stay up without changing the size or quality of the graphic? In theory, that shouldn't have anything to do with the other changes. Why didn't they do that instead if they are so inclined? The size of the picture TRULY is very important to me; I am not just saying it to complain, I really mean it with all of my being.
Did you ever minimize the screen, and then bring it back up when cooking? That has always cut back on time, especially on a slower computer. On my old and very slow computer it used to cut a 12 second swirl sequence down to 5 seconds or so, and on my new one it can take a 4 second sequence down to 2 or 3 seconds. I never found that an issue. | | | 10-02-2009, 08:11 PM | #19 | Gift Guru Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 18,001 | Re: Turning Secret Recipes Back to the Way They Should Be I hated the swirl so I love its demise.
I know so many have been doing recipes for years longer than I and I realize everyone that solved a recipe has such an emotional attachment to it.
I have not experienced that and most likely never will, especially with the new tracking, that to me it is just a faster way of doing it and since I see gunk, gak, or blech everytime I do anything I have no emotional attachment to the representation of the failed recipe.
So I just do not have the emotions tied up in a graphic as to me the graphic has meant nothing but failure anyway.

To me the whole thing with tusselpuff is messed up as we know for a fact that it has been officially solved and someone has a lovely trophy for it yet we have no idea what it is. So if we still want to find out what it is we have to keep putting in the time and effort and massive amounts of KC into it for no reward. The other person will always be the one that solved it.
At least when other recipes were solved off of WI before it was always found out as someone posted the information somewhere else so we had all the info and it was done. This way is so unsatisfying to me.
Its funny - I was thrilled when clara was award the trophy for YTT, but now I am equally as dismayed the way tusslepuff has played out. When Ganz announced they would award trophies for solving the recipes I did not see it happening this way where they announced it was solved but leave everyone hanging for who knows how long. | | | 10-02-2009, 08:16 PM | #20 | Call me Pat! Personally if it meant that the recipes could go back to the way they were before tuesday I would give up my trophy in a heartbeat. I think it was a great idea by Ganz and I thank them for their generosity but I think it just adds a whole aspect to the recipe solving that isn't necessary. We all solved recipes just because, now the trophy is a prize that most of us won't ever receive even if we are the "first" person to report the ingredients just simply because someone else solved it earlier. As I said to monkeecj early ignorance is truly bliss. It is better not knowing or not admitting that a recipe has been solved than to know it has been solved but not be any closer to knowing the ingredients. | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | | | Thread Tools | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off
