[AMMENDED]9/11/09 I would really appreciate ALL your input!!!! Hi fellow recipe solvers., I have not been at this as long as some have, but I have been here long enough to see that a lot of precious time and KC is getting wasted by people doing overlapping combos. Also, there are a lot of newcomers all the time to the recipe section. I remember when I first started, I was so lost!!! I suggest that someone makes a post, hopefully a sticky, that explains for new people EXACTLY how to do a correct elimination. The other thing I think it should include is a place to post what recipe combo you are working on BEFORE you do it. This way people aren't doing the same thing at the same time. It could be titled something like "For all those doing recipes, please sign up here so everyone else knows what you are working on" or something along that line! Just very recently I was completely eliminating Candy Apple in the blender. I had about ten ingredients left to go before I would have done a COMPLETE 95 ingredient elimination current to Sept. of this year. Well, some newcomer (and bless their heart for doing it) wrote Amneris and said she had done ALL the Candy Apple combos in the blender. So, she and I were doing the same thing at the same time and it could have been avoided if we were to post ALL IN ONE PLACE what combo we intend to do BEFORE we start it. I had posted on Monkeecj's thread and so anyone who was gong by that list knew, but anyone going by any of the other numerous threads, including Amneris' would not have known and a newcomer would not even know to look there to see what people are currently working at. I really want to get YTT solved, and I think if we can avoid mistakes, it would be great. If this were right in the recipe section, newcomers would see it, and all of us who have been at this for a while would know about it also. What do you think? I know I hated having basically wasting 1,000's of KC doing a full elimination for NOTHING! I would really appreciate your input. Thanks./ | | | 09-11-2009, 02:07 AM | #2 | kandabar Webkinz :) Join Date: Aug 2009 Posts: 347 | Re: I have a suggestion for making recipe solving more organized. I would really appreciate ALL your input!!!! I agree that we have been wasting kc and time when we could be more productive. If this recipe solving "club" would be more organized or structured in a way that everyone knew what has been done already (and when). We also need to know who has started doing the 95 eliminations on one certain food, so that it isn't being duplicated by someone else. This YTT food trials have been done over and over again, but something has got to be missing. One thing I have noticed, if my dock contains any of the items that I am buying to be included in my trial, that certain item is "put with the original item in the dock" and it doesn't fall in line with the rest of the food items that are part of the trail that I'm going to do. Hence, those items that don't show up "in line" with the other items that I'm experimenting with could be left out of the eliminations without anyone knowing it. I've got to be careful to clear all food items out of my dock BEFORE I start buying the food to complete all 95 eliminations. Has anyone else noticed this? Perhaps this is where the fault lies? Are there any suggestions as to how to organize this so that the rest of us that want to be involved in trying to solve this recipe can feel that we are working in tandem? | | | 09-11-2009, 03:24 AM | #4 | kandabar Webkinz :) Join Date: Aug 2009 Posts: 347 | Re: I have a suggestion for making recipe solving more organized. I would really appreciate ALL your input!!!! mabey make a list on the first posts of all ingredients and place a name by them (or nothing if no one is doing it)
almonds + cake + ee ---- being done by _____
almonds + carrot cake + ee --- being done by _____
Almonds + pepermints + ee ----
or
almonds + ee --- being done by _____
and then have another post (in the same thread) with the list of what is done
Again this is just brainstorming up untill a while ago i was doing them all myself (before i joined webkinz insider) so i just kept a spreadsheet. | | | 09-11-2009, 05:11 AM | #5 | I'm a Shabby Chic Webkinz :) Join Date: Mar 2009 Posts: 1,799 | Re: I have a suggestion for making recipe solving more organized. That is why I said bless your heart for helping!!! I just don't want people to double spend on eliminations and am trying to figure out a solution that works for everyone and that everyone has input into. That is why I started this thread, although not many have replied yet. Hopefully, tomorrow they will see this and give their suggestions on it!!!! | | | 09-11-2009, 06:08 AM | #6 | I'm a Lazy Zum Gift Guru Join Date: Sep 2007 Posts: 5,406 | Re: I have a suggestion for making recipe solving more organized. I am halfway out the door right now, but just thought I would quickly put up the idea that I might be able to change the title of my "For Recipe Solvers..." thread and use it for the purpose you described above. After all, it is going to be closed now anyway! __________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | | 09-11-2009, 07:46 AM | #8 | Gift Guru Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 4,063 | Re: I have a suggestion for making recipe solving more organized. I would really appreciate ALL your input!!!! While there will always be duplication as there will always be people coming and going and a bit of duplication never hurts as a double check, I think there are things that we can do to avoid major duplication. I love the idea of posting people's intentions. I try to do that myself so everyone knows what I am working on, especiall for big cooking combos.
It would be neat if monkee's thread can be used for that as it is a jumping off place that exists already. | | | 09-11-2009, 07:47 AM | #9 | uvs da troops Gift Guru Join Date: Sep 2008 Posts: 3,028 | Re: I have a suggestion for making recipe solving more organized. It would be neat if monkee's thread can be used for that as it is a jumping off place that exists already. I think the main thing I want accomplished by this endeavor is to have one "VERY OBVIOUS and CENTRAL place for newcomers to see so that they will know that have to post their combos BEFORE trying them. All of us who have been at it, can certainly get the word spread "amongst owselves" It just needs to be a sticky in my opinion because the threads down below don't get noticed. It could even be at the top of Amneris thread if there were a way to keep it the first thing people see. The problem with the way it was, was that many people didn't know to post what they were working on on your thread MCJ, they just found Amneris thread and there was no place to post what you were working on there. Also, the suggestion could be made to "team up" so the KC burden on each person is lessened. I, myself, will go broke trying, but I know not everyone feels as strongly as I do. I imagine someone would have to run this by Justin or whoever to get it accomplished. We could use your thread MCJ, if it could get stickied or even put up in the place where the special Mega Stove is listed. That is so obvious I don't think anyone could miss it.
