Is there any advantage to them, other than the fun of cooking? Most of the foods cost $20-25 in ingredients. For that price, I could buy a few snacks to feed my kinz that will fill them up just as much. Maybe it's just that I never let them get hungry, so I wouldn't see the difference?
I like making recipes - especially the fun looking ones (just did blueberry bounty). In the meantime, my crazy kids cheer when they get gunk on the wheel of wow. Too bad the kinz don't feel the same. | | | 07-04-2009, 12:25 PM | #2 | YAY Chopin!!! Webkinz :) Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 3,743 | Re: Advantages of recipes? In fact, recipe foods do have some large advantages over regular food as far as practicality: we have very detailed accounts of the boosts of recipe foods (and see this thread for more information: Verified Point (HHH) Boosts of W Shop Foods, Recipes, and Unsolved Recipes) and it is true that many recipes have ingredients whose boosts add up to less than the boosts of the recipe itself, so the recipe is giving the pet an advantage by having it fed to them instead of the three foods separately. Some of these can be quite substantial, such as Springerle Drizz gives 6 more points in boosts across the board compared to the ingredients.
Another advantage is the fact that they are so much easier to store. If one felt like giving their pet a large boost of all three categories when it got extremely low, that person might make a Cogitaticake and then put it in their refrigerator or keep it in their dock until the time was right to feed it. However, if that person wanted to use the ingredients separately, they might end up storing a carrot cake, spaghetti, and french fries in their refrigerator which would just take up space and wouldn't yield as many points as benefit anyway. Also, if you wanted to send a friend some food, you can keep more boost points locked up in one item than you can in three W Shop food items in Kinzpost.
Also, I personally feel that the looks of a recipe are more than enough reason to use it instead of the three ingredients by themselves. There are some gorgeous concoctions out there: Floridisa, Epochiquox Glimmer, Turretango Twist, etc., and all of them look so much more interesting and exciting than their ingredients alone. Recipe foods are one of the most pulchritudinous and intriguing features in all of WW. __________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | | 07-04-2009, 12:56 PM | #3 | ♥Yay Pat!!! The people in the recipe section here are AWESOME. We have SO much fun together! I think that without this part of the forum, recipe solving may be a lost cause for many of us. It wouldn't be much fun unless you solved an unknown recipe, that's for sure! | | | 07-05-2009, 10:49 AM | #6 | Gifted Join Date: Jun 2009 Posts: 627 | Re: Advantages of recipes? Thanks for the answers. I just went to the verified point thread. I can't believe how much info you can find on WI. I tried the Floridisa - very cool looking, and I can't wait to try a few more. I might've mentioned above, my pets never get below upper 90's in HHH, and my kids feed them so much they're constantly saying they can't eat another bite. Good thing they don't try to feed my cats that way... | | | 07-06-2009, 03:45 PM | #7 | Call me kitten! : Webkinz :) Join Date: Feb 2008 Posts: 1,893 | Re: Advantages of recipes? My nieces love to pick out recipes to make by the picture. I also love that they have recipes for "real" foods, things that I would eat in real life (nachos, burrito, pierogies, etc.).
Also, I garden for profit, and harvest a lot of produce. So I sometimes use a few fruits or veggies for cooking, instead of selling them. Also, as in real life, I stock up on staples (bread, rice, eggs, etc., that are used in a lot of different recipes) when they are on sale at the WShop.
