Salty's Seaside Escape 03/14/10: International visitors land at Oxford's treetop Airstrip. Spangle's Inter-Galactic Summit
Sunday 14 March 2010
Salty, Oxford, and the crew are expecting visitors from over seas! International VIPs will be landing at Oxford's airstrip today. Hobbes, Shadow, Splash, and Salty are acting as the welcoming committee, while Sir Henry Morgan directs the aircraft safely to a halt on the golden runway.
Saturday 27 February 2010
Spangle, our American Golden, is boldly venturing into new frontiers: she is using her considerable diplomatic skills to host the first ever inter-galactic summit on planetary ecosystem sustainability. She has invited representatives from every known galaxy in the universe to brainstorm solutions for this highly relevant problem. Her rainbow babelfish headphones are translating the many languages spoken by her guests. Gobi is manning the space station controls and making sure the internal atmosphere is compatible with the needs of each guest. One of the first follow-ups after the summit will be a full diagnostic on the Robots’ programming. For some unknown reason, at seemingly random times, they all shout in unison, “Danger, Will Robinson!”
Salty's note: There appear to be several items from this new Dex Dangerous theme that are not available at the W-shop. I'm guessing these come from one of the trading card series?

Welcome Nutmeg, Ginger Cat!
Thanks to Kittykat913 for pointing out this cute and cuddly kitty. She is indeed the purrfect addition to our Webkinz family! Her psi is the baker's oven, where she likes to whip up sweet desserts in her gingerbread kitchen.
Nutmeg love sharing recipes with friends, and is dreaming of opening her own bake shop. Last night, Nutmeg invited Starbrite the Yorkie over for a little sleepover. Starbright is still in dreamland this morning. She really likes to sleep late on Saturdays!

Oh my! Looks like an early Spring in WW this year! The snow has melted, and there are blossoms on the trees! Seems unreal compared to the 48" of accumulated snow here in our real world! Our outdoor garden celebration of the seasons is on post 5 at bottom of page 1.
Saturday, 13 February 2010
Happy Saturday, WI friends! Well, after a week of record snowfall, our little crew finally shoveled themselves out, just in time for the Valentine's rush. Severus splurged on the e-store package for Shadow, who was just delighted with a new fountain. Shadow invited Salty, Splash, Hobbes, and Tetley over to listen to the sweetheart symphony.
In honor of Valentine's Day, why not check out the collection of pretty pink rooms on post 21/page 3 (after you've sent all your BFFs a Kinzpost, of course!)

Another snowy weekend here at the “Seaside” . . . The great Mid-Atlantic Blizzard of 2010!
Last weekend we saw a rare nine inches of snow. This weekend, we’re off the main path, but it looks like we’ll get another 6 to 12 before it’s over. Our snowy travels this weekend find us at the home of eagle, Buzz Aldren, and Cardinal Orville Wright. Return visitors may recall Orville’s letter to Santakinz, wishing for a little sister. Well, it looks like Santakinz has a sense of humor: his new younger sister is about 50 times bigger than he is!
Welcome Parkwood, Signature Timberwolf!
Parkwood has a luxurious fur coat, and is quite at home in the snowy weather. Here she is with her PSI, the howling perch. Whenever she sits on it, she howls. It makes my Dad’s German Shepherd’s ears perk up!
Parkwood's debut moved to post #8, bottom of page 1.
Saturday, 30 January 2010
Oh, joy! A snow day! Blizzard, our favorite samoyed, and little sister to Valentine the polar bear, is celebrating the inclement weather with a little decorating project.
Blizzard has also reminded me, she doesn't think we ever showed you her blue condo from last year: More of Blizzard's rooms on post 21, page 3.

Happy Winterfest, everyone!
Salty and crew have donned their Winterfest apparel and returned to their indoor ice rink to celebrate the snowflakes.

Happy New Year WI friends!
After a New Year's dinner of pork, saurkraut, and black-eyed peas, Shadow has invited the group over to her newly redecorated retreat for tea and scones.
31 December 2009
Hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season with friends and loved ones! Salty's crew is celebrating 2009, and ringing in 2010 in the crystal room, while the blue moon shines outside.
Salty stopped over to Oxford's treetop to check out the blue moon:

Dasher's Send-Off Dinner
Sugarplum has prepared a feast in honor of Dasher, who once again has made Santakinz' A-team! She wanted to make sure he has plenty of energy for the big ride on Thursday!
20 December 2009
In the midst of this very busy season, Orville Wright takes time out from the Holiday bustle to write a letter to Santakinz. Orville is wishing for a little sister this year, and for happiness and joy all throughout Webkinz World.
11 December 2009
Welcome Merrybrite, Peppermint Puppy!
Not sure if she is new this season, or if the gift shop at my little weekend home has carry-overs from previous years, but this little puppy is SO SWEET! She's the perfect addition to our celebratory crew. She aspires to be Santa's most dependable elf. Here she's working with Blizzard the Samoyed on checking the naughty/nice list, while Dasher warms his feet by the fire, Jingle, Tuxington, and Parson Brown work on toy orders, and SugarPlum supervises from the Santakinz chair.
And here's Merrybrite enjoying the fireplace in Sugarplum's family dining room, with just a couple of updates frm last year:
Merrybrite's PSI is the Candy Cane Plant. We planted it in Severus's pumpkin patch so Salty and Shadow can look after it. Next to Buzz Aldren, they are our most diligent gardeners.
Speaking of workshops, Jingle and the crew (including Starbrite, our March Yorkie) are very busy filling orders for Santakinz. Higgins, the St. Bernard is watching from the seat of honor:
Saturday 05 December 2009
Snow is here, and the crew is feeling festive! Scroll down to post #8 at the bottom of this first page for some outdoor snow scenes.
A few additional updates of existing rooms are scattered throughout the thread.
Let the Seasonal Celebration begin!
After a late night skating party, Salty and crew meet for an early morning chat in the brisk winter air. (Scroll down to post #8 to see) The background and sky effects are interesting compared to last winter.
Also see post #17 (page 2) for 2008 Holiday rooms!!
Saturday 14 November 2009 Tetley has been preparing his new dining room for the big feast. Note that you can't put things on the Mideival tables.
Sunday 08 November 2009
Those of you who've been following our story since last year (Sugarplum's Seasonal Celebration), will remember our favorite Holiday Baker, Jingle. Jingle is so excited about the upcoming winter holidays that she has expanded from her Jolly Jellybean Kitchen (posts 15 and 17) into a full service Sweet Shoppe:
Enjoying Jingle's delicious creations are Dasher the reindeer, Stella the clydesdale, Sugarplum the polar bear, Parson Brown the snowman, Captain Largo the manatee, Blizzard the samoyed, Tuxington the penguin, and Twining the elephant.
Here's Jingles Jolly Jellybean Kitchen from December 2008:
Jingle hopes you will read her Holiday story on post #15!
Follow all the winter festivities on post #17!

Finally added a thread directory at end of posts 1, 3, and 8. Next project is links for quick jumping... a big thanks to Miss Spots for the great advice!
27 September 2009
What a difference a year makes! Last year we were new to WW, and Shadow and Severus were beside themselves with anticipation of some Halloween furniture. They hosted a Spooktacular contest to see all the awesome Halloween decorating possibilities from their friends here at WI. This year, they're starting the harvest season with a lively get-together at Shadow's Leaky Cauldron Grille (moved to post 26).
20 September 2009
Happy FallFest !!
Higgins, the St. Bernard, really enjoys catching those falling leaves. He loved the country grocery store theme for this year's fallfest room. He's ready to serve up a harvest feast to his friends:
2008's Fallfest room got adopted (and transformed a little) by Peter Parker, the Gekko:
Thanks for visiting! We're SO glad you stopped in! Would appreciate any advice or comments you have. Also, any links to great rooms we'd love to see...
November 2009
You may recall that Franklin, our MerrytimeTrader, has been sailing solo for nearly a year now. A number of readers have remarked on his very crowded ship’s deck with no doors. Franklin’s travels have mostly taken him to destinations in the South Pacific, as his Kinz Clock is set to the Asian time zone. As you can imagine, Franklin has been a little lonely in recent months, during long stretches at sea with no one to talk with (in fact, some might even say it drove him a little batty!). When he does make port, he strikes up conversations with other Webkinz he meets.
One of Franklin’s favorite dining partners has been Watson, a British detective who specializes in matters of international intrigue. Franklin was pleased to once again see Watson on his most recent stay in Singapore, and offered him passage back to the U.K.
Watson is working in a very big case, and has set up the chalkboard and corkboard in his quarters to continue to study the evidence. He often invites Franklin to act as a sounding board to test his theories. 12/05: After several weeks of study, Watson and Franklin have some strong theories about the case, and are eager to make port to check them out.

Tetley, our resident wizard, likes to begin his Saturdays by checking his crystal ball for happenings in WW.
Imagine his delight to find a packing peanut assault has been launched against Ganz HQ in Toronto, by none other than the Elephant Justice League, sponsored by our favorite creative genius, Hmm!
Check out Hmm’s threads for this glorius list of great grey grievances, as well as her brilliant pirate ship house thread:
After reading the grievances of his friends and colleagues, Tetley thought about what he might do to help the cause… As noted by Hmm and BjornTorunn, packing peanuts are difficult to transport in large quantities, since, due to their very low bulk density, they take up a large volume.
Tetley thought he might be able to supply the assault brigade with their artificial legumes in a higher density, but expandable form: packing peanut pellets. These enable the transporation of 100 times more peanuts in the same volume container. Tetey is providing vacuum-packed canisters to the Elephant justice league. When the troops open the pull-tab top, exposing the pellets to air, they inflate to 100X their size, and form their familiar peanut shape. One note of caution: it is critical to pour the pellets out of the container quickly, before the ones on the surface expand so much they get stuck in the can!
As Tetley tinkered in his lab, filling and vacuum paking canisters of peanut pellets, he thought of an improvement on his invention: delayed release packing peanut pellets. As Tetley imgined them, packing peanuts, very appropriately designed for their day-job, with their fluffy and bulky form, are not very aerodynamic. So they may be distance challenged when launched from cannons, and other missile launchers. They would fly much straighter and further in their compressed form. But the beauty of the peanuts in their expanded form is that thtey induce uncontrollable laughter, so how to deliver the peanuts in their aerodynamic compressed form, but have them expand upon delivery? "Better living through chemistry" has always been Tetley's motto. A nice filmcoating of HPMC (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose) might do the trick. About 1% weight gain should be enough to keep the pellets intact as they fly through the air, but erode away on the journey, allowing the influx of air to expand the peanuts to their full glory upon delivery.
Thanks again to Hmm and the other members of the Elephant Justice League for giving us this fun tactical problem to think about!

An unexpected find at Arte's . . .
So there I was, doing my dailies late at night, after a long day, when Arte offered me 2 items I'd never seen before: theater seats, and a Dex Dangerous standee! I wondered if Arte had a new rare theme! Wow, I just had to snap these up! Well, I'm sure you know the rest of the story . . . most of you found these in the W-Shop, I'm guessing around Wednesday. It took me till Friday night, when my Asian account showed them on the front page of the newspaper to realize this is a new W-Shop theme... Moral of the story: Check in with WI more often!
Anyway, Salty's crew is enjoying a February Movie Night!
Jingle and Sugarplum were delighted to receive this hot air balloon via kinzpost from their friend, Buzz Aldren, who is off sailing the seven seas! (update 10/25/09: Twining and Jingle have invited Sugarplum over for afternoon tea.
Sunday 11 Jan 2009:

Re: Salty’s SeaSide Shack ~ 15 Rooms to Start: Please wander through ~ Would appreciate your comments and suggestions!
Great Shack Salty! I loved the little story you told for each room. Awesome job with the decor and thanks for sharing your Wonderful Webkinz Home with us.

Okay, now lets take it from the top . . .

Salty and I have been in Webkinz World since 26 January 2008. Salty was a Christmas present from my niece. Salty is a yellow lab who loves sailing, swimming, playing at the beach, and pretending she’s a pirate. When Salty and I first joined Webkinz World, in January 2008, it was during the last few days of Winterfest. The beautiful blue artwork falling from the sky on floating snowflakes inspired Salty to decorate her first room in winter blues. As I recall, the value-pricing ofthe cool blue and white striped furniture also influenced the early decorating decision!
Here’s the beach, where the crew likes to get together for some fun in the sun.
Salty’s first BFF was a chocolate lab named Splash. After swimming, Splash’s favorite pastime is cooking. She especially enjoys attempting to solve Chef Gazpacho’s Secret Recipez. Here’s Splash, serving lunch in her Diner / Sandwich Shop. “mmmm… Good Eats!”
01 March 2009: Splash's specials this month are:
Ainbowray Canape
Poppaballoo
Chortletorte
The next additions to our Webkinz family were Hobbes the Tiger, and Tetley the Elephant. The crew of four became fond of games, like Billiards, Go Fish, Link’d, Checkers, and of course, Dogbeard’s Bathtub Battles! Here they are enjoying a relaxing evening in their game room:
One of Splash's favorite rooms for entertaining is the Sunny Breakfast and Birthday Party Room. With seating for nearly 20, plus the handy kitchenette, it's perfect for hosting a crowd!
31 January 2009: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, SALTY!!
This week marked Salty's (and Spike's) first anniversary in WW! They were delighted to put their wish tokens into Amanda Panda's machine! Salty's 9 housmates helped her celebrate in their sunny birthday party room:
After Salty and I joined WebkinzInsider, we started entering Salty in some of the Fabulous Fashion Contests we found on this forum. Salty really enjoyed playing dress-up, and in the process, accumulated quite an extensive wardrobe! She quickly outgrew the small storage space in her sleeping rooms, and eventually started dedicating medium sized rooms to clothing storage...
Here's Salty's closet (1 of 2!):
Tetley, the pet of the Month for June, turned out to be a bit of a collector. He quickly made friends with Arte Fact, but had a modest allowance with which to collect. Last Saturday, he picked up the Alchemists stove in the e-store…

Tetley and Hobbes submitted their Floral Jungle

You may recall Shadow, our favorite Showcase hostess, and proprietor of Shadow's Leaky Cauldron Grille. . .
Shadow, like most of our feline friends, loves to find a comfortable place to curl up with a good book. Her favorite book this winter is J.K. Rowling's "Tales of Beedle the Bard". In the aftermath of her famous Spooktacular Halloween Showcase, she began retiring to Tetley's Fountain Gallery for tea and some light reading. Astute readers may recall she brought Tetley the Haunted painting on 11 November, to add to his gallery. With shadow becoming a regular visitor, Tetley thought it would be hospitable to invite her to move in for the season.
Over the holidays, and following year, Shadow received several gifts from Arte's Curio Shop. After the 2009 Halloween season, Shadow decided to split her treasures into two rooms. Here's the fountain gallery before the split:
Here's Shadow's 2009 retreat. She has been soaking in the hot tub and pretending she is Cleocatra. Salty came over for a dip in the hot tub:

After weeks of dressing like a dwarf and sleeping on the floor with a dragon, Professor Higgins has returned to his lab to investigate the effects of time travel on brain chemistry:
The next character in our story is a Golden Retriever named Spike. My DH named him that because the plushie had funny hair that looked somewhat spikey... Spike is a Sailor and Fetcher extrordinaire. A wanna-be pirate like Salty and Sir Henry Morgan, Spike is also very good at ball games, like soccer, volleyball, basketball, and especially FRISBEE! All those high energy activities are balanced by Spike's love of cooking and relaxing at the beach. Here's cousin Spike, serving burgers and Wild Kiwi Sunsets at his Tiki Bar...
Spike was soon joined by Darwin, the Dolphin (more on post eighteen), George, the cheeky monkey, and Spangle, American Golden (first girl in this account). Spangle dreams of being an astronaut when she grows up:
Who among us hasn't dreamed of being an Astronaut? Here's our room for dreaming of being up in the stars... Also, check out post #42, for our newest friend, Buzz Aldren!
__________
As our story continues to unfold, it will be useful to introduce a real world event, in order to better understand the characters. Did you ever give a grownup a Webkinz, because you wanted to share the joy, but it didn’t really take? Well, that’s exactly what happened with my Mom, and that’s how I ended up with a second Webkinz account, with some rather girly characters: a White Polar Bear named Valentine, an Elephant named Twining, and the latest, August POTM, Stella the Clydesdale. I must admit, I’ve enjoyed decorating the girly rooms more than I expected.

Twining gave Valentine (her original name, before she changed it to Sugarplum for the winter holidays) this Sweetheart Symphony Piano from the eStore to celebrate her 1-year anniversary in WW. Valentine just loves the tune: sounds a lot like Pachelbel's Canon.
Valentine changed her name to Sugarplum, and hosted a seasonal celebration for the 2008 winter holidays. Her co-hosts were Jingle the black & white cheeky dog, and Tuxington, the penguin. Winter pets are very social animals, and the crew soon added Dasher the reindeer, and Parson Brown the Snowman. Janury 2009 brought Blizzard the Samoyed, and now Merrybrite the Peppermint Puppy has joined the group in December 2009.
We like to call this next one our “Head in the Clouds” Room:
17 January 2009: Update fromTwining's Diner
"Hi Twining!" What are you making today?", Sugarplum wanted to know.
"Happy Saturday, SugarPlum!" Try some of this yummy peppermint hot chocolate!"
"Mmm! Tasty!" proclaimed an appreciative Sugarplum. "This is just the thing to warm up after a morning of catching snowflakes!"
WOW, Thanks for the quick encouragement, AmandaPanda, Wolf814, Mamaof4, and DiamondsRock! You guys are the BEST for posting so quickly! I really feel like someone came in and had a visit!

Wow, it's been 5 whole months since I've been on WI, and my house thread is still alive!! You guys are the BEST of the BEST!! Thanks for visiting!!! Sorry I've been away for so long, and with no notice! Probably not back yet on a regular basis till Sept., but wanted to share the now e-Store Sailboat pond:
Oxford, my new Pelican, loves the pond in his treetop room. It covers a 4x4 area.
12/05/09: By the way, don't you just LOVE how it's always summer in the treetops?
Eagle, Buzz Aldren celebrated the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 gardening by starlight . . .
And back again by daylight on the first day of Autumn Leaves. Here's an October update. Buzz and Orville are enjoying the new Scarecrow costumes.
Check out Buzz's Blog on post 42 (page 5) for tips on gardening for Kinzcash.
18 Oct 2008: Valentine has planted a strawberry garden, after reading Buzz Aldren's Blog about gardening for kinzcash...

11 January 2009: Surprise Saturday Shipwreck! Had to keep up with Hmm and Miss Spots, I guess! (though I'm not suggesting this is as creative as both of their exquisite underwater entries.... and then there's Lollies - too awesome for words!!! Check them all out!) Have been admiring this e-store shipwreck on both of their house threads: This one washed up on the beach about a hundred years ago... Spike and Darwin just love the beach in winter!
