2/1/2010 Hmm's Pirate Palace -- Gigantic Dogbeard's Bathtub Battles Room! Happy Winterfest! Snowflake Hunting Expedition -- And a Whole House in Pirate Theme
If you like my ship... Please post here and tell me so. Thank you!
And Now It's Time for the Pirate Tour!
Hello, welcome to Hmm's posh (and plant-filled) pirate palace. With the permission of both Legalcat and a very special pirate king, the Ship was christened: "King Philip's Pride." King Philip has now passed on, but his memory burns strongly for all of us who loved him. For more about Philip, please see: Philip, We Love You!
Let me give you a tour of the Pride, and introduce you to the pirates who live here. (And if
you want to see another decorating thread inspired by his Majesty King Philip, please visit King Philip's Castle, created by Jazicat.)
Our Cast
I'm in the process of reorganizing this thread, but I have posted the revised Captain's Quarters for Pirate Captain Johann as well as rooms for Shanti and Winston on post #2! There is also a revision of the Pirate Seance Room that might amuse those of you who have been following the story.

Happy Winterfest!
Snowflake Catching Expedition
After noticing how many snowflakes were piling up on their tropical island and near the pirate ship, the crew of the King Philip's Pride decided to take a break from pirating. The elephant family has been sent back to the Christmas Tree Forest for a snowflake hunting expedition. They have caught a lot of those strange blue icy flowers this year! However, it is getting late. It is time to call everyone back to the ship.
Hey, who is coming by? It looks like Santa and two elves, but all three look strangely familiar...
Dogbeard's Bathtub Battles!
Wow, look at what Santa and the elves brought the kids to play with after their snowflake catching expedition. It's a gigantic version of Dogbeard's Bathtub Battles that they can swim around in! I wonder if Shanti and Ganpati know about this. Maybe we had better not tell them.
BACK TO THE MAIN STORY
The Ultimate Pirate Tree House
When Hugh Manatee, Winston, Johann and Ganpati returned from their male bonding experience at the Ship's Wheel Pub, it became clear that maybe Hugh Manatee had had a bit to much of the Blue Brandy he loves so much. He started telling the kids stories about a massive tidal wave that had hit the island years ago and stranded pirate ships and treasure chests in the trees.
The kids were so excited that they immediately wanted to explore the island to see if they could find one of the sunken ships in the tree tops... No one was more surprised than Hugh when they did! They found a whole tree house with a treasure chest, and a ship, and lit tiki torches and a table set for a party!
Celeste is begging Shanti to allow the kids to keep this tree house as their own special clubhouse, but Shanti is worried. Someone set this all up, but who? Who else is on the island with them?
Ultimate Pirate Tree House, Part II
When the pirates returned to the tree house that night to investigate, they discovered that once again, the torches were lit, and the whole tree top was prepared for a party. There was one change though... Someone had added a strange and wonderful cannon to the tree top.
Winston just had to fire it! It was irresistible. But nothing happened until Hugh Manatee came by to inspect the cannon and fell in. (We suspect that he had too much of the Blue Brandy again.) It was quite amazing to watch Hugh fly out of the cannon, and shoot back down again, over and over again.
While everyone was busy watching the cannon, they did not see two visitors who flew in briefly to watch, and then quietly flew away again. Who are these strangers, and what are they doing on the island?
Leprechaun Garden Maze
When the kids peeked in the treasure chest in the Pirate Tree House, they found something interesting... A map to other houses in the trees!
One of these was marked, "Leprechaun Garden Maze -- Come Find the Pot of Gold!"
Being independent little pirates, they thought that this sounded like a great idea and set off immediately to do so. They have found the maze, and are on their way to finding the pot of gold.
And there in front of them were two Leprechauns, guarding it! At least, they were dressed like Leprechauns... And if they are not Leprechauns, who are they? The mystery deepens.
X Marks the Spot: Pirate Treasure Camp
Shanti is worried about the kids and their recent disappearances. When they went off by themselves to go hunt treasure with the Leprechauns, she was concerned. Especially after she heard how the Leprechauns flew away once the kids found the pot of gold... Who are these mysterious people who create party rooms in the trees? Fortunately, Hugh Manatee had a great suggestion. If the kids want to hunt treasure, let them! Just have them do it in a supervised manner that uses up their energy.
It is hard work, learning to dig (and bury) treasure. But finding treasure is part of what Pirates do best! How better to train the littlest pirates than to have them attend a fun Pirate Treasure Camp!
(As a bonus, they will dig the yard, so that the pirates can plant more fruits and vegetables... but don't tell them that!)
These kids have found all but one of today's boxes of treasure. What's inside the chests? Some toys, fun dress up clothing and, most importantly, chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows so that they can all have s'mores later! The grownups have the firepit ready already.
When they are all done digging, the grownups have promised to take them to a Pool Party to cool off, which should be a great end to the day!
Pirate Treehouse Waterpark
A special thanks to MissMonster for lending me her precious bamboo slide for the photoshoot. I love you sweetie!
Shanti is still concerned about the people who have been making playhouses in trees for her children, and has become determined to catch them in the act. She started flying around the island in her balloon when suddenly she saw them building a water park in the trees. What were they up to? Why were they doing this?
She confronts the culprits and discovers that they are named Trinidad and Tobago. They are a married couple who have been unable to have children of their own. "We just wanted to make the children happy," Tobago explains. "We didn't want to worry you."
Shanti feels better after talking to them, and then she impulsively asks them if they want to join the crew of the pirate ship. "We could use some more topsmen in the crow's nest," she says. Delighted, Trinidad and Tobago agree.
Leaving The Toucan Hideaway
It is a bittersweet moment for Trinidad and Tobago. While they are excited to be joining the crew of the King Philip's Pride, it is scary to suddenly be leaving their home and everything they knew. They borrowed Shanti's air balloon to help carry their luggage back to the ship, but now that they are packing, they realize how much they are going to miss their home. They loved their little huts, and the pool set up with a fan to cool them on hot days. Their tree had a wonderful view, and it was all theirs.
But every ending is a new beginning. Their home was full of toys for the little toucan child they never had. Now they realize that those toys can finally be used. The Pride is a ship full of children who will need doting uncles and aunts to spoil them! Tobago is packing the toys; Trinidad is packing a nice picnic dinner for them to eat on the way. They look around their home one last time, and then load up the balloon. It is time to do something new.
New On Deck Pirate Gym
The Pirate Ship King Philip's Pride has always wanted an on deck gym, and fortunately the two new crew members, Trinidad and Tobago Toucan are adept at building playgrounds! With Opal's help, they get one built in no time. Now it is time for all the pirates to keep their New Year's Resolution to get fit!
Here is the full gym:
It contains lots of climbing equipment, tunnels, treadmills, a skate board and of course a place to leap into the ocean for a cool swim on deck. You can see that Trinidad Toucan is about to leap off for a swim!
In addition to the exercise equipment, you can see that Opal Dragon is about to use the on deck water fountain. Drinking lots of water is important to everyone's health, especially if they have been exercising. (In practical terms, this "water fountain" is a sink and will increase your webbies health and happiness when they use it! Bonus!)
The kids love being in the Jungle Gym Chair, a piece of climbing equipment that can host four webkinz at once. Here they are, watching Hugh Manatee give a skateboarding demonstration!

More shots of each room found
in the attachments woven throughout this thread.
This park is the garden just off Shanti's retreat. I like the mix of decorative and functional in this garden, and it is a nice place for my Webkinz to relax.
I also have boring gardens whose chief purpose is to make me Kinzcash, but it still can be fun to liven them up with a quirky decoration or two. Sadly, I did not get to keep either the stoplight or the Ambulance. Both got claimed by my son for his rooms right after this picture was taken.
Other Comments
I started building these rooms on February 14th, 2008. Trades from Wheel of Yum items and Wacky Bats (plus strawberry revenue) got me the majority of the W Shop furnishings you see here. My future plans? I want to create more quirky corners for the ship.
I have posted some Before and After Pictures of some of my rooms on post three of this thread. I'm hoping that will help some people can see how it is possible to build up to the rooms that you want.
If you like it, please post and give me an approving ARRRR!!!!

I've Shown You Mine... Show Me Yours!
I had so much fun building my pirate ship that I'd love to see other people's pirate ships as well. If you have a cool Pirate Room or a suite of Pirate rooms, please post with a link at the end of this thread and I'll list it here.
I'm thinking that it could be fun to refer back to each other's Pirate Ships, and share design ideas!

Johann the Tiger is our pirate Captain. He loves his treasure and is rather cheap, so he rented out part of his room to his first mate, Shanti. Unfortunately, Shanti snored. On nice nights Johann sometimes had to sleep out on the deck.
Also Shanti's wizardly experiments opened up a rift which brought the haunted gate into Johann's room. At first, Johann was upset. However he mellowed out when he realized that the monster in the gate is a pretty good roommate. The Monster does not snore, and will happily play Johann's favorite game of Go Fish.
UPDATES:
Now that Johann's first mate Shanti has married, Johann (who has always been sociable and is still cheap) needed a new roommate. So he invited Mysterio -- who unlike Shanti, does not snore -- to come join him.
Mysterio agreed, on one condition: that he be allowed to makeover the room a bit. He finally found a solvent to unglue the cash cow trophy from the carpet and has made over this room with reds, golds and some wonderful new porthole windows.
He did leave the Monster in the Gate, though... Johann needs someone to play Go Fish with, and Mysterio is usually too busy to play. Besides it is nice having a third roommate to chat with at times.
Shanti's Library -- A Wizard's Retreat
Shanti the elephant is ship's wizard, so she has a magic portal that transports her to her own private library and napping place off the ship. We wonder if a side effect of creating the magic portal was what caused the haunted dungeon gate to arrive in Johann's room!
Her favorite thing in the room is the lava lamp, given to her by King Philip himself. Sometimes she stares at it so much that Johann has to tell her to get back to work. (However he likes sneaking in to stare at it too.)
This room is the most often revised in my house. It seems like Shanti is always remodeling and adding things. Most recently she added another sleeping couch so that her spouse, Ganpati can take naps with her, and a lovely soft rug to keep their feet from getting cold on that stone floor!
Winston, the Ship's Navigator
Our ship's navigator is Winston the Gorilla. His room contains maps, a compass, and a clock so that he can calculate trade routes accurately. He also has his prized Vespa Scooter, because all the Elephants and Tigers have such cool vehicles that he was starting to feel left out. Winston likes his privacy, which is why a cannon faces the only door.
Winston likes green growing things, and has recently adopted a pet Strike-a-Pose plant named Fred. He has trained Fred to fire the cannon at anyone who enters the room without Winston's permission.
Don't worry, though. If you surprise Fred, you'll only get hit with the lunch Winston stored in there.
Top Deck
No pirate ship is complete without its own pool. After a tough day of pirating, it's nice to relax there and take a nap under the beach umbrella.
Shanti is also the ship's aviator, and has no fear of heights. That's her propeller plane on the deck here. She frequently takes crows nest duty because Winston doesn't like it and Johann gets dizzy.
Formal Dining Room
With the pirates recent acquisition of their very own Haunted Organ (which they have wanted ever since seeing Davy Jones play one in the Pirates of the Carribbean movies), it was time to set up a formal dining room for entertainments and appreciation of the fine art that they have managed to steal acquire doing their pirating work.
Winston wants to play the Organ, but isn't very good at it yet. Fortunately, both Shanti and Johann are too kind to let him know this.
Pirate Florist and Gift Shop
Every pirate ship needs its own Green House and gift shop right? Where else are my pirates getting all those flowers?
Undersea Treasure Vault
This is Johann's special Treasure Vault, where he comes to admire treasure that he and other pirates unearthed on a small Island, not seen on most maps. He only lets special visitors (like you) to come see his most priecious items.
King Philip's Stateroom
Original text:
With a possibility of more Royal Visits from their sponsor, King Philip, the pirates decided to build their own Stateroom for honored guests and important staff meetings. They found the nicest cozy wood furniture that they could find, and hung up a Lion Tapestry and a bunch of Pirate Flags in King Philip's honor!
If you look closely, you can see a rare appearance of our newest crew member, Mysterio. Mysterio is a stowaway that floated in on a trading card. None of the crew is exactly sure how he got there, or what to do with him yet. He dresses all in black, and does not talk about himself much. They suspect he is hiding a very big secret. Still, they invited him to a friendly game of Backgammon in the Stateroom, to learn more about him and his talents. Expect to see more from Mysterio in the future!
Update:
This picture marked Mysterio's first appearance. Although this room was built for King Philip, our lil' Kinz lion who is Philip's namesake prefers to sleep with the other kids on the ship rather than stay in this fancy Stateroom. It is still a gorgeous guestroom, and the pirates look on it with great pride.
Ganpati's Galley
Original Text:
Ganpati the cook is the newest member of our pirate crew. Oddly enough, it was Mysterio who introduced Ganpati to the crew. Neither Mysterio nor Ganpati talk much about how they first met, but it is obvious they have a strong history together. Ganpati is very quick to defend Mysterio. The two have been seen having secret conversations that they stop the moment any of the other pirates come by.
Ganpati's favorite thing to do is make wacky and strange recipes. He stores all the recipes in his thoughtful think tank -- which may explain why the recipes have gotten weirder and weirder of late. Some of the recipes are too strange for Pirate Captain Johann, so Shanti has to help Ganpati ship the recipes over to his Majesty, King Philip. It is well known that King Philip loves exotic foods!
Updated Version:
As a gesture of goodwill to the newly married couple, Johann and Winston redecorated Ganpati's Galley while he was on honeymoon. They moved Ganpati's bed out of the Galley, figuring that he will want to share a room with Shanti now.
They have completely revamped the Galley with more seating, lighter colored woodwork, new windows and lights, and brand new counters. They even added a jukebox after reading about it in a fancy decorating magazine featuring that great designer, SaltyMac.
Pirate Captain Johann suggested that maybe they should move out the Thinking Tank where Ganpati stores all his weirdest recipes. (Seeing the brain just sloshing there makes Johann a little squeamish.) Winston asked if Pirate Captain Johann wanted to eat peanutbutter sandwiches for the rest of his life. Johann decided that maybe some of the recipes weren't that bad. Being exposed to Ganpati's cooking has made him a more adventurous eater!
Here you can see the Galley with all the crew members anticipating another wonderful -- if odd -- lunch.
Flight Deck
There has been so much travel lately between King Philip's Castle and King Philip's Pirate Ship that the pirates had to install a new flight deck to make it easier for all the flying vehicles to take off and land. However, all those little vehicles taking off and landing all at once was both chaotic and dangerous.
In response to this problem, Ship Wizard Shanti has created a new method of mass transit for Webkinz world -- the flying carpet bus. Here her friend Earnest Monk helps direct traffic as a bus full of travelers arrives from King Philip's Castle.
Mysterio's Purser Office
Mysterio the dalmation was a stowaway who sailed into my pirate ship on a trading card. Although he was an unplanned crew member, he has since proven to be very indispensible to all aspects of the ship. As Ship's Purser, he must keep track of the shipping records, balance the accounts, delivers the ship's mail and re-stock the goods in the ship's hold. He also takes care of the ship's fire safety equipment.
In addition to his practical interests, Mysterio has a lovely art and book collection of which he is rightfully proud. He loves showing it off to visitors.
(For more about Mysterio, and his secret career as an elephant smuggler, scroll down to the section about the Elephant Garden.)
Pink Pirate Dragon Room
Introducing Opal, the gardener of our little pirate ship. She loves her trampoline, which makes her a bit hard on the floors of her room. Pirate Captain Johann will likely be wondering who will pay for fixing the broken deck!
Opal's Workshop
As has been noted before, Opal the Dragon is a bit hard on floors. She keeps breaking them when she bounces on her trampoline. The upside of this is that she has gotten so good at repairing them that she has become the new Ship's Carpenter. (She also serves as ship gardener, but she's gotten some of the other pirates to take up shifts of gardening duty so she can spend more time building stuff.)
Pirate Seance Room
Pirates are a superstitious lot, which is why my pirates had to have a new seance room in order to consult with the spirit world about the best trading destinations. Unfortunately, the fortune telling pig -- like all oracles -- can be hard to understand.
Updated 2/20/2009:
Although the youngest pirates on the ship are not allowed in the Seance Room, Celeste decides that it is time to teach Hugh Manatee a lesson about his practical jokes. She has gotten on a scary mask and is entering the room at an especially spooky moment when lightning is flashing through the windows. Babar and Philip can't resist watching!
On Monday May 12th, 2008 I had Pirate Pool Party at my house and invited over a number of my friends from Webkinz Insider. A couple of these pictures are going on my Pirate Ship house thread, but I wanted to post more pictures from the party so that all my friends can see them -- especially Philip! It was his gift of three pools that started me on the path of creating this fun hangout for my pirate crew.

The Pirate Pool Party!
Added 5/13/08!
Big Picture View:
Like most parties, people came and went as they pleased. Once some of the guests arrived, they immediately started exploring the whole pool area.
CLOSEUPS
The best view was from the Crows Nests and the trampoline.
Down lower, Earnest Monk showed off his new backflip for all of us.
Jazicat's King Philip tripped in a card game with Winston. Whoops!
Here four friends gather to chat.
And then Shanti came out of the pool to hang out with her best friend, Earnest!
One very special visitor was Bloomer, the mohawk mouse. He belongs to 4philip4, and was escorted to the party by Legalcat. He could only stay a few minutes, but we were delighted to have him come!

The Elephant Rescue Society
Added -- 6/23/08!
Shanti overheard part of a conversation between Ganpati and Mysterio, and overheard the phrase, "Elephant Smuggling." She was shocked. Suspicious of both Ganpati and Mysterio, Shanti decided to follow them to shore one day.
Shortly upon arriving on the shore, Mysterio donned an elephant costume. Shanti continued to follow until they reached a beautiful Elephant Garden unlike any that Shanti had seen before. She came into it to confront Ganpati and demanded to know what was going on when a strange Circus Elephant named Ganesha rode into the clearing on his Unicycle.
It turns out that Mysterio was indeed an elephant smuggler -- one who finds mistreated cicus elephants and rescues them from their circuses and finds them new lives. Ganpati came from just such a circus, and Ganesha was fleeing one too. Ashamed, Shanti offered Ganesha a place on the Pride, but Ganesha had already found a job polishing lava lamps for a nice lady named Elizabeth. Ganpati and Shanti made plans to help Mysterio with more elephant rescues while Ganesha took his leave of them.
The three friends pledged themselves to form an Elephant Rescue Society. Mysterio then disappeared in his clever elephant disguise to investigate other circuses in the area while Shanti and Ganpati admired the garden once again (this time in closeup mode!)
I do not own an elephant statue. Ganesha07 very generously loaned both the statue and her own beloved circus elephant, Ganesha, for the purposes of the shoot. Thank you so much, Ganesha07! Having your statue in my garden for even an hour was a dream come true.

Before and After Photos -- added April 28th, 2008
Hey Gang --
I am updating the Pirate Palace with all the changes that I've made to my rooms of late. But I wanted people to still be able to see before and after shots of my some of my rooms. Each shot will show the original rooms that I posted, followed by how it changed after getting a chance to trade in the Gift Exchange for a few months.
And if you don't think you have enough to trade, please see my other thread Small is Beautiful: Memoirs of a Tiny Trader on the WI Gift Exchange. I only started out my GE with Wheel of Yum, Trophies and a few Winterfest items and managed to trade up to things I really wanted and could use!
Included are before and after photos of Johann's Room, Shanti's Wizard Retreat, and the Flowery Top Deck.
When Shanti first proposed her undying love to Ganpati when they were on shore in the Strawberry Patch, she discovered that Ganpati was not really paying attention.
Undaunted, Shanti finally convinced Ganpati to marry her in ship's wedding chapel. (It might help that Winston the Gorilla brought along his cannon to keep the groom properly focused on the ceremony.) Please join all the crew of the King Philip's Pride in sending felicitations to the new couple!
While the couple honeymoons, Winston will be taking over Ganpati's duties as Ship's Cook. Pirate Captain Johann is relieved. All that Winston knows how to make is peanut sandwiches, but this is a nice change from some of the weird recipes that Ganpati liked to cook.
Winston's Christmas Courtship Rooml
With the recent wedding, Winston started realizing how lonely he was. He finally decided to tell his penfriend Koko (from Jazicat's King Philip's Castle) that he loved her. To show how much he appreciated her, he showed Koko his favorite cannon.
Here is a special surprise that Winston left for Koko in the Cannon:
He thought that she would like it.
Pirate Honeymoon: Touring the Sunken Ship
Shanti and Ganpati have begun their tour of exotic places for their honeymoon. Hugh Manatee, retired pirate and local guide, took a liking to them and showed them one of his favorite places -- a sunken treasure ship. Shanti and Ganpati have taken a liking to Hugh as well. Do you think they will be able to convince him to join the crew of the Pride?
Shanti wonders if Hugh might not be a bit of a wizard himself... How else is he lighting those torches underwater?
Pirate Honeymoon Continued:
Hunting for Treasure in the Xmas Tree Forest
Shanti and Ganpati are on the second stop of their honeymoon. They flew their planes to the far north, where it is rumored that Santa's little elves have hidden treasure for them to find!
I think that they have found the best treasure in the whole forest... A luxurious soak in a hot tub!
Pirate Honeymoon Concluded:
Elephant Smuggling by the White Trading Fort
Shanti and Ganpati decided to pay a courtesy call to the famous White Trading Fort, located deep in the jungle. But when they flew their airplanes there, they received terrible news. The White Fort had been attacked by evil circus raiders who had taken everyone captive who had once lived there. Everyone that is, except one small and very brave little lion.
(Interestingly, the lion's name is Philip... Just like Shanti and Ganpati's beloved and deeply mourned liege, King Philip Wilson.)
While Shanti and Ganpati are digesting the news, a caravan of circus cars comes through the jungle. Is it raiders, come to attack again?
No, it's Mysterio and two little elephants. He has completed another daring rescue, smuggling captive elephants out of the circus!
The two little elephants, Celeste and Babar, are delighted to meet Philip. The three kids hit it off immediately.
Meanwhile, Mysterio has a heart to heart with Shanti and Ganpati, pointing out that here are three orphan children badly in need of parents. Could Shanti and Ganpati rise to this occasion and stand in as parents? Shanti and Ganpati think about it. Parenting is an awesome responsibility. But they've been pirates. How can parenting be any harder than that?
(Mysterio wisely refrains from commenting on this one.)
Shanti and Ganpati agree that the honeymoon is over. It's time to take the children home to the pirate ship. If they hurry, they might all be able to celebrate Christmas together.
But how to get them there? Stay tuned for the journey home!

The Journey Home
The Journey Home: The Polar Express
Special thanks to Gram2Four for loan of several cars
Poor Shanti and Ganpati. They had to cut their honeymoon short, and now are traveling home with three very tired children.
(For more about where they got the children, scroll down to the last part of post 6 -- Pirate Honeymoon, Elephant Smuggling at the White Jungle Fort.)
They only had two airplanes... How would they get their new family home? Mysterio suggested a nearby mountain range that was rumored to be a secret outpost of Santakinz's workshop. Surely Santa could help them get home?
Santa and his little elf Bubbles were overjoyed to help! The family will ride the Polar Express tonight. By morning, they should arrive at transport that can take them back to their ship.
Mysterio is staying behind with Santa. It appears that they have business to discuss concerning the elephant rescue society.
The Journey Home: The Yellow Submarine
Control Room!
The Polar Express let them off at King Philip's fabulous yellow submarine, where retired pirate Hugh Manatee was waiting for them! Here he is, showing them how to plot a course for home! The children are so excited. What do all those switches and controls do? And what sorts of other rooms are in the Yellow Submarine? They want to explore the whole thing.
Philip the little lion is especially enamored with the Royal Throne. He has given several proclamations from it, including one that states he always gets seconds of pancakes. Shanti and Ganpati are beginning to realize that this parenting thing may be a little harder than they previously thought.
Bon Voyage!
Journey Home Continued:
The Yellow Submarine -- Bee-tles Bedroom!
The kids are exploring the Submarine, and find a bedroom that still has cool stuff left over from the previous owners... Musical instruments, and some really odd bee costumes! Hugh explains that a British Rock Band called the Bee-tles once lived here.
Hugh shows them the insturments and even teaches them a song that has the chorus, "There will Bee an answer, let it Bee..." At least, they think that is how the song goes.
Shanti and Ganpati have realized that if the kids stay in this bedroom, they are not going to get much sleep tonight.
Yes, the pun is awful. But hey... blame Miss Spots and A2A for inspiring this silly room. Guys, it is all your fault.
The Journey Home:
Yellow Submarine -- The Mariner's Spa
Our explorers have discovered yet another room on the Yellow Submarine -- The Mariner's Spa. What a wonderful room! It has everything one would want to refresh oneself: a hot tub, a pool, and exercise equipment. Retired Pirate Hugh Manatee has told the kids that they can only swim if they pass an endurance test. He has encouraged them to run at a very fast pace on the Spa's treadmills.
What Hugh has NOT told them is that the treadmills help power the backup generator for the sub. The kids have saved the Yellow Submarine quite a bit in fuel costs already. Maybe by the time they are done running and swimming they will be so tired they will actually sleep tonight, despite the temptation of all those musical instruments in the Bee-tles Bedroom.
The Journey Home:
(Yellow?) Submarine -- Undersea Observatory
Many thanks to Igme916 and Ganesha07 for making this room possible.
Our bold explorers have found their favorite room on the entire submarine, the Undersea Observatory. There is so much to look at, from the fish floating by the portholes to those they can see through the Crystal Glass Flooring. Hugh tells them that this room used to be yellow like the rest of the Submarine, but he decided that he was getting a little tired of yellow, and so he gave the room a new paint job.
It turned out nice, don't you think?
The Journey Home:
LAST ROOM OF THE SUBMARINE -- Deep Sea Diving Training!
A very warm thanks to Gram2Four, who made this room possible!
Diane, you are the best. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Our intrepid explorers have discovered a downside to the Yellow Submarine -- no Galley or other eating area. Apparently, the Bee-tles just stopped for lunch at any port they fancied.
Hugh has told them though that he knows of a good place to eat. But getting there will be tricky. He's making everyone take a class in Deep Sea Diving. They've all donned their wetsuits, and now are trying to learn how to use Oxygen Tanks. It's pretty complicated, but if they learn well, Hugh might let them take the mini submersible for a drive.
This room is equipped with safes to store any treasure they might find during their deep sea dive. But the main treasure the hungry little pirates are hoping to find is lunch!
Hugh Manatee's Underwater Holiday Brunch
Hugh did find them a good place to eat, but they had to check their scuba gear in at the door. Fortunately, the restaurant has a large supply of warm comfy bathrobes to lend to customers!
(Yes, this was my entry in the Kinzville News Floral Design Contest. I have finally gotten the opportunity to use it in my storyline.)
One Last Entry in the Journey Home:
The Underwater Garden and the Miniature Pirate
The Yellow Submarine has landed, and our little adventuring pirates are only a few feet from the shoreline when they make a fascinating discovery. They find a tiny underwater garden with a treasure chest that opens and closes, guarded by a miniature pirate.
The miniature pirate addresses them saying: "Arr!! Who be ye? I be the fierce and cursed pirate Little Dogbeard, cursed forever to stay beneath the waves and guard this treasure with my fleet o' ships!"
Babar, Celeste and Philip are excited by this, but Shanti is suspicious. Why does Little Dogbeard sound so much like Hugh Manatee? And what is Hugh Manatee doing with those speakers?
Meanwhile, Back at the Ship:
Searching the Docks by Lighthouse Bay
A special thanks to Tinker24BELL!
Pirate Captain Johann is very worried. Shanti and Ganpati are late, meeting the ship at the rendezvous. Where can they be? He and Winston the Gorilla left Opal in charge on the Pirate Ship, and have rowed a lifeboat out to the harbor by Lighthouse Bay. Not trusting Winston around the cannons (the gorilla has a tendency to stuff ice cream and treats in them, and then forget about them) Johann has ordered Winston to keep watch at the lifeboat.
Winston must have been really tired from rowing that boat, because he is not doing a very good job.
Hey, wait... Who's coming? Could it be... Mysterio?
Meanwhile, Back at the Ship:
Opal's Workshop
As some of you might remember, Opal the Dragon is a bit hard on floors.
Johann and Mysterio return from the Island with exciting news. Shanti and Ganpati are coming back... and they have three children with them! The Hold will need a complete overhaul if it is going to accommodate all these new crew members.
Also, Mysterio has another project requiring Opal's special talents. What could it be?
Meanwhile, Back at the Ship:
Pirate Train Station
A special thanks to Dixiecup and Flameboy!
Opal, Mysterio, Winston and Johann have been so busy. They put the finishing touches on the Hold and then Opal worked on Mysterio's special project -- a Pirate Train Station, complete with Train! (The engine came as a gift from Santa, but Opal built the rest. It was fun!)
The Buccaneer Line goes from one end of the Island to the other. They're off to ride it to the other side of the Island, where Shanti and Ganpati are due to arrive with the Yellow Submarine!

The Grand Reunion
Pirate Beach Party: The Grand Reunion
The pirate train let off at the beach where our submariners have landed. Huzzah! The crew of the King Philip's Pride is reunited again, and everyone is enjoying the party. Opal and Shanti are catching up on the latest gossip, while Mysterio has found an opportunity for business by running the concession stand. Winston is running the party machine, and Ganpati, Hugh, Philip and Johann are enjoying some male bonding in the volleyball game while the elephant twins referee from the crow's nests.
Note: The idea for stringing up the volleyball net between two crow's nests belongs entirely to BjornTorunn. I could not resist borrowing the idea for this beach scene, but would like to give credit where credit is due.
The Ship's Wheel Pub: The Grand Reunion
To continue the male bonding, Hugh offers to take Ganpati, Johann and Winston down the beach to the officer's quarters of a fine little pub that he knows. He's in an expansive mood because his team won and wants them all to enjoy some of his favorite blue brandy. I hope they don't have hangover headaches in the morning!
All pirates love flowers... At least all of my pirates love flowers. And since gardening is an excellent way to relieve stress from the hard work of pirating (as well as being a good way to raise funds for ship repair and maintenance) my pirates work pretty hard on all their gardens, which they try to make functional as well as pretty.
The Park
The park is the garden right off of Shanti's Wizard Retreat. It is a nice place for the Webkinz to relax as well as garden.
The Ladies Garden Society
The ladies love to have gardening society meetings out here. They love how this one looks pretty no matter what growing stage the plants have reached!
Shanti's Birthday Garden
It was Shanti's Birthday yesterday, and Ganpati wanted to do something special for her. You might remember that in post 3 of this thread, when Shanti first proposed her love to Ganpati, he was asleep...
Ganpati decided that it was time to make up for this, and redecorated the strawberry garden in which Shanti first expressed her love as a special surprise for her. Then he invited her to come flying with him for a special outing -- their first date since the adoption of the kids!
Ganpati reveals his surprise...
A special thanks is owed to Nana and Gram2Four
for their help in acquiring items for this picture.
I think Shanti will like it, don't you?
Memorial Lighthouse Garden
I built this Lighthouse Garden in Philip's memory.
Dedicated to the loving memory of Philip Wilson:
May your light continue to guide all pirate ships home.
In response to the many injustices in Webkinz World against Elephants, such as lack of hats in the Wishing Well Game, the Elephant Justice League decides to take direct action with a packing peanut fight.
As you can see this is Ganz Headquarters... after the grounds have been completely saturated with white packing peanuts that have been dropped from the aerial assault vehicles and shot from the cannons. You can see various divisions of Ganz Headquarters here: Ganz Plush Division, Ganz Customer Service, and the high tower in the center which is the Office of the Creative Director. It is surrounded by a moat and guarded by mean looking Zangoz with clubs.
We have the Elephant Justice League (an offshoot of the Elephant Rescue Society) preparing to close in. As an important logistical detail, there is a concession stand available to keep the troops well supplied with peanuts. It is also a data collection point, as we have staff with telescopes reporting on the action.
How the Grinch Stole Xmas!
The Grinch has stripped the house of everything but the last Xmas Tree when little Ciny-Lou Who wakes up and asks him her question. Poor Max is outside in the cold, waiting to pull the huge amount of stolen Xmas decorations on his sleigh.

The Many Dilemmas of Horton the Elephant
Poor Horton! He promised to sit on that egg until the lazy Mayzie Bird came back, but now he has been trapped in the circus where audiences come to laugh at him sitting in his tree.
Wait a minute... that bird... is that Mayzie, come back to watch the show?
Then they hear a cracking sound! Can it be the egg, hatching finally at last?
"But it's mine!" screamed the bird, when she heard the egg crack.
(The work was all done. Now she wanted it back.)
Poor Horton backed down
With a sad, heavy heart...
But at that very instant, the egg burst apart!
And out of the pieces of red and white shell
From the egg he'd sat on so long and so well,
Horton the Elephant saw something whizz!
IT HAD EARS
AND A TAIL
AND A TRUNK JUST LIKE HIS!
My word!
It's something brand new!
It's an ELEPHANT BIRD!
And it should be, it should be, it SHOULD be like that!
Because Horton was fairthful! He sat and he sat!
He meant what he said and he said what he meant..."
... And they sent him home happy, one hundred percent!
A good thing too...
Because back in the jungle...
Those poor Whos on the Dust Speck are going to need all the help they can get. Horton, hurry back there and help them make noise!
Another devoted pirate fan, you should see Bjorn's island and his suite of pirate rooms. They are lovely. Don't miss where he strung the volleyball net!
Please join me in welcoming a new pirate ship to the index. This lad is just starting out, but I cannot wait to see what he does next!
OTHER PEOPLE'S Cool Pirate Rooms
Okay, so not everyone is insane enough to devote an entire house to the pirate theme. But some folks out there have pirate rooms that are absolutely standout.
Be sure to look at her Below Decks Hideout and her Deck-a-Dent Desserts Cafe. They are outstanding! Her other rooms that are not (gasp!) pirate-themed are fabulous as well.
There is one below decks room that is an intriguing mix of pirate with other things. I don't know if it is really piratical or not, but both Meadowlark and I like it so I'm including it here. Nice use of totem poles!
You *must* see the Fallfest Below Decks room. It's required!
Hmm
Many thanks to Meadowlark for all her assistance in helping me find these pirate rooms! She rocks!

MY SON'S PIRATE KITTIES
My little son, Duncan, was disappointed that he could not enter the pirate contest that I ran a while back. So I told him that I would show off his pirate kitties photos right here on my house thread. Please, take a moment to admire them, and tell Duncan that you like what he came up with!
This is Taylor the alley cat and Grace O'Malley the black and white cat in their below decks pirate bedroom. They love hanging out and looking at their pirate trophy.
And here they are in their above decks living room. They're watching their favorite television show, but have Soundmaker the snake poised to fire at the TV if it is a rerun. (This is a tough TV. It gets fired at a lot!)
