SEE NOTE 08/08/09 UPDATE: Sat, 06.22.09 I harvested strawberries this morning and got 294 from 80 plants (usually get 250 - 260). A few days ago I harvested cabbage and only got 114 from 90 plants. I had never seen it that low before. | | | 09-03-2009, 02:57 AM | #402 | Gifted Join Date: Aug 2009 Posts: 673 | Re: Gardening for Profit Guide & 2009 Profit Stats. SEE NOTE 08/08/09 UPDATE: Sat, 06.22.09 I have seven gardens, one for each plant, with 80 plants in each (the maximum you can have and still walk through the garden in both directions). The carrots and strawberries are clearly the best moneymakers, but if I were starting all over again, I think I'd go with all watermelons and pumpkins just because they're the easiest to maintain and it doesn't take as much time in the wshop to sell them. One thing's for sure, I'd definitely stay away from tomatoes and corn...they're both a real pain in the you know what. | | | 09-08-2009, 02:21 PM | #403 | not my division Gifted Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 53,240 | Re: Gardening for Profit Guide & 2009 Profit Stats. Sorry you lost your files to a crashed computer. Thank you so much for all of the information you have shared. It must have been a lot of work to track all those details.
I harvested some of my garden today and got 163 carrots from 56 harvest-ready plants. Not sure if it's random or if it's because I took the time to water my plants this time. Last time most of the plants gave only one carrot.
When i harvested my eight strawberry plants the other day, most of those gave four or five berries. Those I had watered, as well. SEE NOTE 08/08/09 UPDATE: Sat, 06.22.09 I found this guide very helpful when trying to understand the atypical plants. Is there anything else a webbie can do with the magic bean plant other than eat or sell it? I have looked a good bit through the threads for this and have not found anything of value.
Also, to increase the usefulness of the guide, it might be helpful to add special knowledge about each plant (such as if a magic bean does anything other than be big and get eaten).
The first thing I can think of is the addition to the cabbage plant that it can be used to make YTT! This might be very important for someone trying to garden for profit and food...
All and all this guide is just wonderful--thanks for all of your hard work! | | | 10-03-2009, 10:39 AM | #409 | Gifted Join Date: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,277 | Re: Gardening for Profit Guide & 2009 Profit Stats. SEE NOTE 08/08/09 UPDATE: Sat, 06.22.09 Has anyone noticed more food growing lately? I was annoyed that harvesting hasn't been worth it for weeks, but since 9/22 they've been giving a lot more. I've finally been averaging over 2 on carrots, and almost 3 on berries.
The downside is, gardening today with moving clouds is worse than in rain. Every time I rake, it takes 2-3 seconds to happen.
Anyway, does anyone know when the Kinzstyle outlet opened? I'm wondering if Ganz is giving us more fruit in appreciation of our hard work with gardening instead of the quick profit you can make in clothing. Whatever it is, it makes harvesting worthwhile. | | | 10-07-2009, 10:05 PM | #410 | Nomadrecneps Lil Kinz Join Date: Oct 2009 Posts: 5 | Re: Gardening for Profit Guide & 2009 Profit Stats.
