It is REALLY close as to how much of a difference you get from the strawberries vs. the carrots....since the strawberries yield 1-4 plants each, and at the value of $6 kinzcash each....they have a larger variant...you may yield MORE one time, and LESS the next....BUT, the average, is very close....if you figure out how much they yield each day---that formula is:
Strawberries:
Yield x Value / time
Yield (1-4 strawberries)
1+2+3+4= 10/4=2.5 total as the average
Value--worth $6 kinzcash if you sell them
TIME--takes 10 days (technically 9 days--this would be 1 full week plus 2 days--So, if you plant on a SUNDAY, it would be HARVEST on TUESDAY--this is 10 days for them, or 9 days if you keep the garden going....as the HARVEST day is day 10/day 1.)
2.5 X $6 / 9 = 1.666 per plant PER DAY *so, if you have 100 plants in a room, you will make on AVERAGE for 9 days.....$1500 now over 9 days!!
for CARROTS:
(yield is 1-3) value is $7, time is 1 week (8 days in kinzville)
2 X $7/ 7= 2.0 per plant PER DAY * so, if you have 100 plants in a room, you will make on average for 7 days.....$1400 now...over 7 days...
This is only a difference of 100 kinz cash for 2 days...so, 50 a day....and, yeah, it is way harder to tell when strawberries need to be raked....for many of us at least.
BUT, this is always a very personal decision. My sister grows and keeps strawberries...as she INSISTS her pets LOVE them...I tell her they keep her pet happy....I tell her it is a VERY expensive 1 point food item....but, her garden, her pets...her kinzcash.....I only pet sit.....
Hope this helped.....

Hi, I also have noticed mostly on my sister's site that she will get some plants that will have a mind of their own....I had 2 plants that did that at one time....actually 2 months ago, I had 1/2 of one field do it, and 1/3 of another field do it....my sister thought it was funny...as I have my fields NAMED by days of the week....no, I am not obsessive.....ok, just a LITTLE....
It is ANOTHER little GARDEN glitch....I had a LONG talk with a supervisor yesterday.....very nice....he and I talked about many of the problems on there....and he said they are actually working on them, and he was not just giving me a snowjob....this I am sure....and he was not rude like many of the other reps were, nor was he mis informed. He actually knew what he was talking about, and had hit the nail on the head before I even mentioned stuff.
This could be a new glitch that webkinz haven't been able to address yet, as many people may not have told them about? Not sure if you are an adult or not.....If you are, or if you have parents that will call Ganz, and be able to TALK with them during regular business hours (8/9 am EST - 5pm EST), I do have a phone number extension for a supervisor...as long as it does not get posted anywhere, I could give it to you....and you can have them or you (whomever is the adult over 1 explain it to them....so they are aware and can add it to the list of things they need to fix....as that would DEFINITELY annoy me...as I like my gardens/fields to be on the same day for every plant in THAT field....ok...so, yeah...I am VERY obsessive compulsive about some things.....just a few......LOL.....but, ummm, aren't we ALL????
LOL?
Well, hope this helped.....have a GREAT day!

I only have one garden of strawberries at present and their growing cycles were fine for a couple of harvests but are now all off kilter. So one row planted on one day will have 3 or 4 plants slow down and not grow as fast as teh others. It stared happening to me after Ganz fixed the major glitch a few days back.
I have no problems seeing the weeds in the strawberry garden. I left paths in my garden & the pet walks through. We zoom in on each section & weed or harvest as necessary. Very easy. I also put paths in because several folks had said some of their newly adopted pets were getting dumped into their gardens & stuck there with no way out. So the paths serve a two-fold purpose. No stuck pets & ez weeding. | | | 11-28-2008, 04:59 PM | #14 | Webkinz :) Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 1,095 | Re: Carrot's Cycle Shortened Originally Posted by GPX Navigators I've seen this discussion a couple of places and those who do the math say that strawberries & carrots average out to be the same KC earned over time. I totally agree with you on here....it is such a minimal difference, and I would recommend not changing from strawberries to carrots unless you REALLY want to change...since I had meant to add....and kept forgetting to....that if you DO go to change over from one crop to the next, you will suffer a loss initially of up to 2500 kc per field while you are selling those seeds from the initial field and switching over to the other crop (such as if you have 100 strawberry seed packets, and want to switch to 100 carrot packets...cost--50kc each...X 100-- 5000 for a field...less the sell back at the w-shop of 1/2 value---2500).
Again, not everyone seems to have the vision problems some of us have---either because of computer monitor size, our eyes, migraines, or other problems.....
I also totally agree with the 100 items in the field vs not having 100 items in the field....I only have it on the accounts with only a few pets, and where I am NOT going to be putting on a 10th/11th/ect pet...as I know they WOULD get stuck in the middle of the field...as I have had many pets put in my garden when I only had 81 plants in each.....I think like EVERY new pet seemed to wake up in the cabbage patch....
Oh, and what you mentioned with the strawberry plants and the rows with one always seeming to grow at a different rate---that is what my sister says she has now...she is so frustrated with it....(she keeps asking me if I did something to her plants....LOL).
I hope this helped....

my spreadsheet is VERY detailed. i'll upload the pertinent parts of it a little later. maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow. carrots, even wtih a 8-day harvest are the most profitable, though not by much. the least profitable is cabbages. it's really not an opinion, its mathematics. before i started, i needed to know. (i can be obsessively detailed oriented.) i've got it by both harvests and days. the best indicator is at 112-days bc they are all really close to harvest day. (not sure if that makes sense, though i'm good with details i'm not always that great at explaining those details bc they get a little complicated and i cannot explain it outside my head. i often get that glazed look from others when i'm explaining something with tons of details.)
interesting idea that the planting day does not count on reharvests. i've pulled up seeds and put them on my dock to get them back in line with others and i think that they always went back in line. (on occassion, i'll have a plant that wont harvest with the rest in the same garden and we cannot have that, no no no!)
thank you for the information on how many days before the plants rot. i knew it was safe for one day but did not know about two days.
once i'm done getting my daily schedule for the carrots, i plan on checking the other kinds that i have. i want them spread out! then i'll be able to tell if the other seeds are growing faster or not.
i'll let my son know what you said about gardening but i dont think he'll buy it. it's "BORING". LOL!
i prevented the "stuck pet in garden" dilemma by leaving doors accessible. the gardens are not filled with 100, obviously, but i'd rather that than a stuck pet and a crying little red .
and thank you, disneymum for the compliment!!!! Today I had a couple strange glitches (I tried to move something in the room while the pet was sleeping - which they aren't suppossed to be doing anyway - and the pet flipped around in the bed and kept sleeping. Weird!) But the other glitch that pertains here was the pet not being in the room when I went to My Room but all of a sudden showing up in the middle of the garden. I'm so glad I have paths so I could just walk the pet right out. Strange stuff. Probably goes with the weird growing cycles. I seem to have berries every day now which is not how the garden was initially set up, and they are being harvested from all different parts of the garden. Hey, at least they are still growing. | | | 11-30-2008, 02:41 AM | #18 | i'm extra specially Gifted Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 2,047 | Re: Carrot's Cycle Shortened WOW i appreciate all the attention to detail that goes into all of this so that i may benefit from your data collection and analysys.
next garden will be carrots if i plant another garden, however i get strawberry seeds for free sometimes from the new forest so free is the cheapest way to go. but if i buy more crops it will be carrots.
again thank you redbear adn fluffrnuttr, for your informed opinions on the matter, and your willingness to share all that work with those of us who would just slap plants into a room and be done with it. | | | 11-30-2008, 02:43 AM | #19 | --pls. ask-- Gift Guru Join Date: Aug 2007 Posts: 9,360 | Re: Carrot's Cycle Shortened thanks! and sorry that i didnt upload the spreadsheet. i was a little obsessed with build-a-bear today. i'll do it tmrw! off to bed now. | | | 11-30-2008, 08:21 AM | #20 | Swim for the Webkinz :) Join Date: Aug 2008 Posts: 578 | Re: Carrot's Cycle Shortened I haven't noticed it because I don't garden but I remember my mom saying that there was a glitch going on with the gardening on how long they took. Sorry I can't help more.
