Sigh. I would love the Schnauzer PSI. Not enough to actually want to adopt a Schnauzer, though...
Still, I have had no trouble just trading the small stuff. It's great to be able to trade stuff that I do not want (my excess trophies, and Wheel of Yum souvenirs) for stuff that I do!

I only have one pet and not lots of time to spend on WW, so things like FallFest/WinterFest items are "rare" to me, and I'm sure I'd have things to offer for these "smaller" items! Now, I just have to become gifted. | | | 03-27-2008, 03:24 PM | #13 | lainafofaina Webkinz :) Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 61 | Re: Small is Beautiful: Memoirs of Tiny Trader on the WI Gift Exchange Do any of you trade anywhere else? I'm not asking to go trade there, I'm just wondering if you trade on another site? I do and really enjoy it. I applied to be "gifted" here but the process seems really convoluted. | | | 03-27-2008, 03:30 PM | #14 | Eliphalet Gift Guru Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 6,403 | Re: Small is Beautiful: Memoirs of Tiny Trader on the WI Gift Exchange Originally Posted by jdb10887 Thanks for this post! I'm so glad that you posted. I have three pets, and I have children who also have three pets a piece. We are small time all the way. However, the gift exchange has been a fabulous boon to our family and our friends.
You would not believe how many Wheel of Yum dummies and t-shirts my children accumulated before I opened Hmm's modest trading trunk. How wonderful it was to turn those dummies and t-shirts into stuff that we could actually use. And the best part? We were making people who wanted those items for their collections happy.
In a good trade (no matter how small) everyone wins!

The convoluted process and the trading etiquette on WI was something that I found very reassuring. It makes certain that people want to maintain a good trading reputation, which means that I have faith that those I trade with will send me the items I want in return.
It's a huge safety net for those who trade.

Hmm I agree. I've heard so many stories about people getting ripped off on other sites, I'm glad WI has the steps in place that it has... it makes it worth it... | | | | 03-27-2008, 04:19 PM | #16 | Beariffic! This was a very encouraging post to me. I'd almost decided not to be bother even trying to get gifted for many of the same reasons people mentioned here, but now I think I may go ahead and apply eventually! Thanks again for being so open and friendly! | | | 03-27-2008, 04:26 PM | #17 | Gift Guru Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 2,230 | Re: Small is Beautiful: Memoirs of Tiny Trader on the WI Gift Exchange Just wanted to say I LOVED the process to become gifted. I know it makes me a better trader. I have the confidence of knowing that I am participating in a trade that is fair to me and the other trader. I really appreciate this.
I am also a small time trader and actually met Hmm on another post similar to this. I keep my GE simple and only post what I really want to trade. This Christmas was my first holiday so all of my items to trade are not that rare and I don't trade what I like in my house so there's not a lot. However I have made some really great trades myself and I love when I find someone like myself who is just trying to get the things they love. I also always look at small traders just because I hope people will do the same with me. Thank you Hmm for encouraging people who may not have become gifted otherwise to give it a try. It really is worth going through the process even if you don't have a lot to trade. | | | 03-27-2008, 04:29 PM | #18 | Eliphalet Gift Guru Join Date: Jan 2008 Posts: 6,403 | Re: Small is Beautiful: Memoirs of Tiny Trader on the WI Gift Exchange Originally Posted by bearcentral Thanks, Hmm, Legalcat and everyone else for all the comments! Go ahead and apply now if you have the non-fluff posts to qualify!
And I'm so happy to have encouraged you to go for it!
True confession time... After I became gifted, I looked at what I had in stock, and said, "Now what? No one is going to want this stuff..."
But then I stepped my toe in the water, set up my GE and started trading. I've decided that I am the costco discount dealer of the GE. Hey... Someone has to sell the cashcow trophies and Wheel of Yum stuff, right?
